This home was very clean, and the oceanfront setting speaks for itself. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to what I would expect from a luxury property.Check-in was more complicated than necessary for a family traveling from across the country, as an in-person check-in is required. More frustratingly, we were only told at check-in that the living room A/C was broken. Had we known beforehand, we could have made other plans. The lack of A/C had a meaningful impact on our stay. Our older family members found the main living space too hot to spend time in, which meant we couldn't fully enjoy the primary gathering space together as a family. This wasn't a minor inconvenience in a bedroom, it affected the central communal area of the home.Communication was also disappointing. We had to proactively ask management for updates on whether the A/C would be fixed. For a luxury rental, I would expect management to communicate proactively when a significant amenity is unavailable. We asked for a rate adjustment, and the owners offered just 75 per night. While we paid less than the current rate, it is now listed at 1,500/night, making that response striking. A property commanding luxury rates should provide luxury communication and service when something goes wrong. The house and location are beautiful, but the failure to disclose the broken A/C beforehand, poor communication afterward, and inadequate effort to make things right significantly diminished our experience.
