It is an older property, needs some maintenance. AC on the tennis ranch is not working properly and too much flies inside the house, screen doors with holes is causing this.

Overall it was a great stay and a very nice property. The rooms are big, the views spectacular, the kitchen(s) fully stocked with dishes, flatware and cookware for 40. Lots of spaces for people to hang out and easy walk from one property to the other (we rented both). The feeling is grand but a little worn, making it elegant but very comfortable. The one hiccup was with pool heating - be sure you know what the ambient temperature of the pool is before requesting (and paying for ) heating. Communication is also a bit of an issue - there's Bob, the owner (very responsive and helpful, but not really "on call"), the AvantStay representative (very responsive but limited in what she can do decision wise), the AvantStay 800 number (also easy to access, polite and courteous and eager to help, but don't make decisions - they pass it up "the chain" and get back to you) and the final level behind the curtain where the decisions are made and passed down but with whom the renter cannot communicate directly. We had several situations where this was not a problem - for example, the AC didn't work upstairs in one of the houses when we arrived and it was replaced the next morning. But when it came to heating the pool it led to miscommunication and a lot of frustration. Fortunately, they eventually understood and resolved the issue fully. with that one caveat, I would recommend the place totally.

Beautiful area and house. The house was a little older than I thought but still great to stay in. Plenty of rooms and space. Did not get to try the pool but the basketball/tennis court was great to have. The small towns nearby were great and had everything we needed in terms of eating and supplies. Best part was communication with staff. Leading up to stay there was plentiful communication and the concierge service was a great tool to have with set up and getting extra air mattresses for our stay.Check in was great as well; Kim was there and walked us through everything. Response time was excellent. There was an issue with water pressure that happened late in the evening but her response was quick and someone was there to check it out early in the morning which we appreciated.Was one of the better trip experiences because of the staff and quick communication between all involved. Lessened the stress of preparation and allowed me to focus on planning the trip without worrying about last minute surprises at the property.

Enjoyable Family Holiday

The property was excellent for a family holiday getaway. Plenty of space and thing to do on the property and nearby. The kitchen and living room area made a great gathering place. If your looking for a nearby trip try the private safari tour!

This house has it all— space galore, a pool, tennis court, trampoline and kids play structure.

We highly recommend this home for large groups. The views were amazing! The kitchen was well-appointed and the beds comfy.

Amazing place with so many amenities. It housed our yearly boys trip and it was perfect. The owner is great and the communication from start to finish was top notch.

Perfect for Families

This place was awesome! The kids had a great time in the pool, riding bikes, playing outside in the yard, and even inside with the provided toys. We had a lot of fun. Thanks Bob!

Amazing Property

We travelled with 2 families to the house for a vacation where we based for trips to LEGOLAND, SD Zoo, SD Safari park, and beach. The house is great and has great amenities for the kids. This mixed with the animals on property and great hiking trails nearby made this an amazing vacation and I would recommend the property for families.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway

This is a wonderful property. The owner/manager was very responsive and available. The kids loved the pool and basketball court. The adults loved the beautiful terrace and hillside views. Make sure to book the private chef service for an added touch of the extraordinary!

What a great place!

Wonderful vacation rental for a family or group. This place is beautiful and spotless. It has foosball, pool table, tennis court, swimming pool, kids playground, a hiking path, and beautiful views. Bob is nearby if you need him (we didn’t need him). We hope to be back soon!

Amazing

I highly recommend this house to anyone. Bob was a great host, who regularly communicates with you and makes you feel at home. The property is vast and there is so much to do without even leaving! I can’t recommend this place enough.

Bob was a great host and our families had a wonderful time. Lots of actitivies to be entertained with like swimming, tennis, basketball and plenty of bikes. Definitely would return in the future.

Perfect multigenerational destination

There was always something to do. From the pool to the playground to the tennis court, arcade game and foosball the options were endless. Also wonderful places just to relax. The location is close enough to stores and restaurants for anything you may need. Waking up to the chickens and the horses was a treat for us city dwellers. We would highly recommend Bob and his property.

Fantastic time at the Tennis Ranch

We had a couple of families share this property and it was exactly what we needed. Nestled in the hills with great views and quiet surroundings. Great pool, tennis/pickleball court and overall house with a great family room and kitchen. Close to San Elijo Hills which is a great small town with shopping and restaurants. Less than 5 minute drive. The owner Bob and his son Dylan were fantastic and great hosts. Communication with them was very easy. Highly recommend this as a getaway if you are not looking to stay at the beach.

Great Customer Service!

This property was perfect for our yearly family get together. Something for everyone. From well maintained pool toys, to playground to the gardens we were impressed with the hand tailored linens and how well the kitchen was stocked. Plenty of gathering room indoors or out so everyone always had enough room. This home was all that was promised and more! We will definitely be back!

We had a great time

We had a great time. Bob was a great host. He was there to greet us and go over everything with us. Chef Alfonso made us a great breakfast. We had a college reunion with 15 friends of ours. Bob was able to communicate very quickly with us thru text messages. Definitely worth the stay, and great location which was close to everything. Beautiful home and location.

The PERFECT getaway!!

My girlfriend and I had the chance to stay at Bob's Tennis Estate last week while waiting for our new home to have the construction completed--and WOW. Beautiful grounds, awesome pool, huge spacious home with everything we could have thought of or needed. Bob gave us an informational walk-through when we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed and was available by phone the one time we couldn't find a lighter for the grill. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic country-style retreat.
