The overall setting in the marsh and the home esthetic were beautiful and so peaceful. There was ample room for family to gather. The beds were comfortable and the the cabinets filled with all the necessities for cooking. We had to contact the host and she was quick to reply and address our need without hesitation.

This house was great for the price! We enjoyed our stay and everything was as listed. The only issues we had with the house was that the refrigerator got up to 60 and took almost 24 hours to get down around 35, and it kept going up and down in temp throughout the day, and my food would’ve spoiled if I hadn’t put it in the freezer overnight. Aside from that, we had a great time!

I loved this place… it was my husband, daughter and her friend. The arrangement of the house gave adequate privacy and Provided a more personal experience for all of us. The home’s decor was conducive to capturing a comfortable, relaxing seaside home that offered expansive scenic views of marsh while providing the privacy and quiet we were searching for.My communication with our host Valerie was excellent and her generosity in offering this piece of paradise to her renters was very generous indeed. Above all it was so reasonably priced! We could not have asked for more … a great time - a great place- a great host!Thanks Valerie!!

We loved the house and location. The view of the marsh was gorgeous, and the home was decorated in such a cozy fashion. Everything was as listed. Someone had commented that there were no tvs, but there were actually multiple throughout the home. We had a minor issue (did not disrupt our stay at all), but the host was very available for communication and receptive to our needs. We cooked in both nights and found everything we needed for prepping and cooking food. We plan to visit again. I would recommend to anyone who wanted to stay in a place that felt like a home.

Our family loved staying here. Wonderful location and plenty of activities for the whole family. It was our first time on Fripp and we cant wait to come back.

Our stay was extremely enjoyable. Fripp island is a gorgeous place, and this home was a treat to stay in. The house is a bit older, but it adds to the charm of the island. Our family had a wonderful time. Would definitely vacation here again.

Fripp trip

We booked this property expecting a comfortable stay based on its advertised amenities. Unfortunately, we faced several significant issues. The inadequate HVAC system was unable to dehumidify below 60%, which contributed to visible mold growth at all supply registers and behind peeling wallpaper. One shower wouldn’t drain, the downstairs toilet leaked, and the refrigerator maintained an internal temp of 65F. Though we reported our immediate issues on our first morning, no assistance was provided until the fifth day. Raccoons damaged our vehicles each night, and we discovered a patio chair with exposed screws, posing a close-call safety issue with one of our small children. Despite these conditions, the host refused our request for a refund. We cannot recommend the property in its current state and hope improvements are made for future guests.

Awesome Tree House!

We loved this place! Maybe our favorite place that we have stayed at Fripp! It is a very spacious treehouse...very comfortable and beautiful. It is very well equipped. Loved the marsh views and the sunsets. Will definitely stay here again if possible!

Simply Beautiful

Our stay was wonderful. We spent the majority of the time relaxing on the large porch that overlooks the tidal marsh. The wildlife is up close and personal here. For the adventurous, high tide provides the best opportunity for kayaking. The house was clean and very comfortable. It was stocked with everything we needed. The owner was very quick to respond to any questions we had. We will love to visit again!

Marsh stay on Fripp Island

Wonderful view of marsh! Quite area on the island. Plenty of room! Would recommend blinds or shades in upstairs bedroom on the right. Some would like a TV in sitting room upstairs other guest like not having a TV.

Fantastic island treehouse!

This was a fantastic house during the 4th of July! You could see the fireworks right from the back porch perfectly. The house was well-appointed and fit our family perfectly - with the extra kitchen and living space downstairs on the first level. Watch out for the raccoons living in the tree holes…they were feisty and come up to visit us on the patio frequently during the morning and while we were packing up to leave!

Even the teenagers Loved it.

Fripp island is beautiful. An abundance of wild life including cute little deer roaming the island. We rented a golf cart and the teen girls enjoyed driving us to and from the beach. The sounds of the marsh were right out of a movie. We enjoyed reading books on the deck and listening in the mornings and evenings. The house was well equipped with everything you need to cook or make coffee with. If a teenager tells you it’s one of their favorite vacations they’ve been on thats saying something!

We had the best time, the house was very nice and worked well for our family! We checked in very easily, and found the house quickly. We enjoyed the upstairs deck the most! We sat out there most of the stay! we even have a few raccoon friends come up the deck with us. We had minor issues, but communication with the host was excellent on getting issues correct. The only cons I have is it took a while for the top story to cool down, and would heat back up very quickly but with how hot it was outside we figured that would happen. Also, not having on island trash, it took away from the trip having to drive to the waste center, but that wouldn’t stop me from booking again! We can’t wait to hopefully book this location again next summer. The house is simply beautiful and the views outside are stunning, and I don’t believe we saw one bug outside the entire stay.

Nice house with no TV

The house was nice but NO TV which really disappointed some of the guests. It was not stated in the listing. A lot was required upon arrival and departure-Turning on/off water on the outside of the house, heat/cool regulations, all dishes cleaned and put away, and a few others.

Great location! You can tell this is a well-loved property, and the views can’t be beat. The host provided clear, detailed instructions and was very accommodating — even letting us check out later than planned. There are plenty of board games, which was a nice bonus since it rained a lot during our stay. Crabbing dock is near and great for crabbing or maybe some lightweight fishing. A few things to note: I’d recommend bringing your own pillow for comfort. When we arrived, the refrigerator breaker had tripped long before our stay, so it took about 48 hours to get back to temperature. Luckily, there are two mini fridges downstairs, and the host was responsive and refunded us for the inconvenience. The linens and sheets were clean, but since the house hadn’t been occupied in a while, there were some small dead bugs on the windowsills, showers, and counters. Also, be sure to leave extra time before checkout to clean up as instructed — there’s no trash pickup, so guests are responsible for hauling it out.

Looks can be deceiving

We had reservations for 6 nights but only stayed 1. The air conditioner/electricity was not working on the first floor so we could not use any of this space . There were no exterior lights working which was a huge safety issue for us to deal with. We also could not charge our electric golf cart due to the electrical problems. The air conditioner vents were leaking so bad in the kitchen and master bedroom (there was a huge piece of plywood covering a hole adjacent to the ac vent and water stains all over the ceiling) that I had to put bowls under them to keep from walking in water. When I took a shower there was 6 inches of water in the tub due to a clogged drain. The dryer was not operating properly and the towels were damp and soured. The deck outside the master bedroom was covered with an inch of pine straw. The furniture upholstery was stained and had holes worn in places. The refrigerator was very dirty. I contacted the property owner and she had a housekeeper come and clean the refrigerator and had an electrician there within 90 minutes, he made several attempts to reset the breakers, he left and said he would return later to install new breakers. I talked to the property owner and told her we just could not deal with the other issues and she said she completely understood and would refund my money. However she did not refund all my money as promised. I am very disappointed, these issues ruined our family vacation.

Hurley Haven is a well-loved older home. We enjoyed all the personal touches from the modest furnishing, personal photos and beach equipment at our disposal. Minor issues reported directly to the homeowner were addressed immediately. We enjoyed the nightly visits from the raccoon family and deer (do not leave trash or anything outside or on your golf cart, they will help themselves and make a mess). The marsh views were beautiful. FYI: Excessive humidity is common in a home near the ocean in SC, this should not surprise anyone.
