We had an OK stay here a few weeks back. The place is very rustic, as noted in the description and other reviews. There is no AC, which is OK and again, this is noted but I bring it up because Block Island can get quite warm. Just make sure you're aware of this. There were plenty of fans, so we made due. The house is best thought of as a summer cottage, so if you view it in that sense, the accommodations begin to make more sense. I'm writing this review primarily to note the issue with bugs. Others have also mentioned this, but we weren't prepared for the sheer volume. Spiders, flies, creepy crawlies...you name it. We live in an old house ourselves and sometimes get unwanted bug visitors so we thought we would be OK with a few bugs. Except it wasn't a few bugs. Please make sure you are OK with bugs if you book here...and I mean REALLY ok! We did not reach out to the host about this because truthfully, I don't think there was anything that could've been done to mitigate the issue during our weeklong stay. I'm sure he would've tried his best and he was very communicative and easy to work with, so absolutely give him 5 stars for that.Overall, our stay was a little disappointing due to the bug issue. Do not expect a house with frills, the host does a good job of noting this in his listing. I would recommend he seal up the house better though because for the price we paid, we were disappointed at having to deal with number and variety of bugs we did.
