Family Vacation

We loved this house! It was perfect for our 14 guests. The close access to the beach made it so convenient. We really enjoyed the open floor plan with all of the seating to all hang out together. The pool and hot tub were great to hang out by/in after the beach.

This was our second time staying here, the first was 10 Years ago. House is big enough to make everyone comfortable, easy walk to the beach. Beds were pretty uncomfortable and that was the general consensus from all 7 adults, kids were good. A few issues during our stay but the rental company was amazing and came out immediately to handle what they could or reported the issues to the owners.

My Starbucks

We love staying at My Starbucks and have stayed many times. The only down side we continue to have is with room set ups. The bunk bed room is only adequate for 2 people as the upper bunks are too low for anyone to sleep on the bottom bunks. It would also be nice to have another room or two with twin or bunk beds as it makes sleeping arrangements for multiple families awkward (3rd family doesn't have the right bed arrangements for children/ young adults.

Moist furniture, but great house

Overall the house was perfect for our group of 13 adults. The living area layout was really nice for games, cooking and eating together. The beach is about a 7-10 minute walk but right around the corner from the boardwalk to get there so that made it easy. The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of cups, plates and pots/pans. We loved the coffee nook and egg chairs! The cleanliness of the house was mostly okay, however it would go a long way to invest in new furniture in the living room. The couch and love seat are incredibly worn, with stains on most of the cushions. They also felt constantly moist during our stay. We had a great week!

My Starbucks at Whalehead

This property is handled by Shoreline OBX once you rent it through VRBO. In the past I have dealt with the owners. I paid my final payment 30 days prior to our arrival to Shoreline OBX. I received an email that there was an additional $112.00 that I owed. There was no description line saying what it was for on the receipt break down of the amount owed.When I called Shoreline OBX I was told it was because I wasn’t paying “cash” . The web site never said anything about additional fees for use of a charge card. I was told I had to pay the balance or I would jeopardize my contract. There is a gift of $250.00 for beach rental Vaytek and we used it to rent bikes with wagons. This was a great benefit to run cooler, chairs etc to the beach if you have a family group as it is far from the beach. I appreciated the voucher thank you. The house was clean but the outside there were cigars and cigarettes in sand buckets left on multiple decks. The grill area was left a mess, grill tools and dirty pans were left out there and the charcoal grills were not clean.

Beautiful seaside vacation

Overall a lovely experience. Bunk beds were not optimum for teenagers. The details from rental agency were not entirely accurate. It was actually to our advantage but I packed a Keurig coffee maker, iron, and quarters for coin laundry that were not necessary. The walk to the beach was easy. our microwave quit working but maintenance came promptly to assess and brought us a temporary countertop microwave for remainder of our stay. Overall we had a fantastic week.

Great family vacation

This house had a wonderful layout for our extended family. Grandparents on the top floor, parents and kids in the middle and bottom floors. The spacious living area and kitchen meant that we could all be together for meal prep, meals, and evening activities. The pool is spacious and allowed space for everyone to have a great time. Easy walking distance to the beach as well.

Great Week Away

The house has plenty of space for friends and family. Proximity to the beach is amazing. Their partnership with the rental company was well used to get 15 bikes for the whole week. Note, some of the linens/bed spreads were really dirty and stained upon arrival. I would suggest bringing your own if you can. Additionally, the bunk room beds are very rickety and shallow. I’m not sure a teen would fit comfortably, we ran into issues. All and all, would stay again!

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very unhappy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The headline of this rental is ridiculously deceiving. However, it appears to have been changed since my stay. There is no ocean view unless you are at the highest point of the house on your toes with your head cockeyed. Also, "puffering" at work, "800 feet to beach access" = a 10-15 minute walk. When you are carrying chairs, umbrellas, and coolers, this is not ideal, ESPECIALLY for the price. Next year, we are staying OCEANFRONT for less than a 10% increase in price. Needless to say we were disappointed in the view (lack there of) and distance to the beach. Furthermore, the interior of the home could use some serious updating and decorating consultation. There are a ton of knickknacks, cracks, and outdated decor/furniture. Not only could we not see the beach, the interior was not pleasant to look at either.

Really great house for family meet up!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family found the house to be nicer in person than the pictures represent. The location is very accessible to the beach and safe for kids to ride bikes. We used the rental credit that comes with the unit for a beach wagon to transport our belongings to the beach. The decks were nice and provided plenty of separation for everyone. Shopping and fresh fish market are both very close. Our only wish list for this property: The grill situation could be better (either gas or traditional charcoal drum would be a great upgrade), and an umbrella for the top deck or pool would be nice for some shade. Overall I would recommend this house!

Our House Away from Home

Reviewer Comments: Pre vacation: Dealing with Shoreline OBX was straightforward: contract signing went smoothly, Shoreline sent me reminders on what to bring, excellent directions, and weather conditions, which helped us a lot in our packing and preparations. During the week: When we arrived, we inspected the property. We thought that it could have been more thoroughly cleaned (there were bottles and socks under some beds, the sink in the Master Bedroom had black gooey stuff). Overall though, it was okay. We liked the location, its accessibility to the beach, the pool was regularly serviced, and we felt safe in the neighborhood. Shoreline provided excellent and prompt service to our requests leak in the toilet, etc. Departure: The instructions for departure were clear. We appreciated the professionalism and politeness of the Shoreline staff we talked with on the phone.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall a great vacation home. Very large and spacious. Just enough where 3 families don't have to feel cluttered in the home. The pool area was wonderful. Especially liked the locked gate to enter on to the patio. The perch walkway to the beach was right next door to the home, which made it convenient for access to the beach. Approximately 2 short blocks. Although if you are traveling with small children, it seems a bit difficult walking the distance. Few things need some updating: not all of the televisions work in the bedrooms, and the one's that do, there are problems with the cable/satellite. Very poor reception. Refrigerator/freezer door does not close completely because of the warped seal. The home is fully stocked with flatware and dinnerware, but could use a few more larger pots for cooking. The docking station for the ipod was no where to be found after searching the whole week for it. The 3 decks surrounding the home could use some sanding and restaining. 3 of the children got splinters which was not such a pleasant experience. I do suggest purchasing the early check in. The home was not not ready until almost 4pm, when check in is scheduled for 3pm. Trying to find something to occupy the children while waiting for the home to be cleaned was difficult. Overall, great customer service and would recommend this rental to family and friends.

Time for Management Company to assess the vendors they use...

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family has been renting homes in OBX for 30 years. Only one other time that I was dissappointed with the cleanliness of the home we rented. This was one of them. I did call the managment company regarding a couple of things and they responding very quickly to replace the toaster, fix a broken lock and emplty a trash can full of beer bottle that was in the yard. I felt that, clearly, no one inpects the property between renters. If it is left up to the cleaning company, well, they're not doing their job.On another note the towels that we paid extra for were horrible. One more thing I'll have to pack next year....if we go.
