A unique place indeed !!!

Wonderful place! The location and the view is absolutely unique - in the middle of nature! The house is well equipped for a comfortable stay. We hiked a lot, swam in the sea or just sat at the terasse with its breathtaking views of Cinque Terre. We visited La Spezia, Portovenere and Pisa. The owner was very helpful and stayed in contact with during our stay, aswered all our questions and provided all information. If you are interested in relaxation, hiking, scenery it is the the perfect choice for you! A little bit of paradise in Monesteroli!

Amazing location ...i

Luca could not be more helpful; house could not be more charming and the view is to die for ....if the steps don't get you first that is! A magical place with stunning views and an amazing sense of isolation. But access to beach and back towards shops and restaurants a definite challenge. In some places the steps have been eroded and its down to shale ... Having said that we absolutely loved it. Thank you so much Luca - the house is a credit to you, JW

Amazing location

While the stairs are not be underestimated, the surroundings and the view from the house are certainly worth it. The house has a very nice terrace, allowing you to finish your day with a barbecue and some wine during sunset. The house is well equipped and was clean when we arrived. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a beautiful and quiet environment and is not afraid of some physical exercise. As noted in the description, make sure you have some convenient way of carrying your luggage, as a normal traveling bag isn't going to work.

Amazing location well worth the walk!

A very special property situated on a steep hill close to a fantastic bay. You need to be in good shape to get to and from the sea since it is a steep stair with many, many steps to get down. But the bay is fantastic, and there aren´t many places in Liguria you can be almost alone at the seaside in August! We had charming (but warm) walks both to Campiglia and Porto Venere and from another neighbor-village to Monesteroli. We travelled with kids aged 7 and 9 and a teenager. They also liked it here. The house is charming, but it´s not a place of material luxury... The luxury comes in the form of fantastic sunsets, fabolous wiew of the bay and surroundings out of your dreams!

Perfect but too hot in summer

The house is set in a beautiful place, extremely peaceful, with a stunning view but the 1900 steps from the parking to the sea (1000 from the parking to the house and 900 from the house to the sea) are too difficult to climb in summer time because there is no shade at all! There is no shade on the steps, no shade on the terrace of the house (facing South) and no shade on the rocky beach. The cinque terre villages are also too crowded in summer. The house is probably wondeful in spring time and september when it is pleasant to hike around.

Nicht wie online dargestellt

Wir haben das Ferienhaus mit einer Gruppe von Freunden gebucht, da es auf den Bildern einen einladenden Eindruck machte. Leider entsprach der Aufenthalt nicht ganz unseren Erwartungen. Direkt neben dem Haus befand sich eine Baustelle, die weder in der Beschreibung noch in der Kommunikation vorab erwähnt wurde. Der Außenbereich war in einem unordentlichen Zustand. Auf dem Grundstück fanden wir Hausmüll, Verpackungsmaterial von der Baustelle, Toilettenpapier und ein großes, auffälliges orangenes Absperrband vor, was die Urlaubsstimmung vor Ort erheblich beeinträchtigte. Zusätzlich gab es Probleme mit der Dusche, da sich die Wassertemperatur nicht regulieren ließ und das Wasser stets viel zu heiß war. Das Haus selbst hat Potenzial, doch die genannten Punkte trübten unseren Aufenthalt leider erheblich. Wir würden uns wünschen, dass diese Aspekte in Zukunft verbessert und transparenter kommuniziert werden.

Einsamer Sehnsuchtsort für Naturliebhaber

Wir haben vor allem die Alleinlage und die Terrasse mit dem grandiosen Blick auf Meer und Steilküste sowie nachts auf einen prallen Sternenhimmel sehr genossen. Ein Ort, gerade richtig zum Entspannen nach einer 14-tägigen Alpenwanderung, ohne auf die tägliche Dosis Höhenmeter verzichten zu müssen. Das Natursteinhaus ist einfach und geschmackvoll eingerichtet und mit allem Wesentlichen zur Selbstversorgung ausgestattet. Drei kleine Wermutstropfen müssen dennoch genannt werden, und auch nur, weil sie uns überraschten: Auf dem Grundstück befand sich ein weiteres Haus im Bau, gesichert von einem grell-orangefarbenen Bauzaun, der leider den freien Blick zu einer Seite schmälerte, dann gab es offenbar aufgrund der heißen Temperaturen kein Kaltwasser (Duschen war nur morgens oder spät abends möglich) und entgegen der Beschreibung keine Waschmaschine, die wir nach der Wanderung gut hätten brauchen können. Aber der Vermieter war für unsere Fragen immer schnell und klärend erreichbar. Also gerne wieder, aber mit dem gut gemeinten Tipp, die Beschreibung jeweils aktuell zu halten.

Situation exceptionnelle dans une maison atypique

+ : cadre exceptionnel et situation géographique de la maison, l'équipement de la maison (hormis la machine à laver que l'on n'a pas réussi à faire fonctionner) Recommandations : aimer randonner, avoir plus de 10 ans car l'accès à la mer se fait par 800 marches pentues Moins : agence en charge de la location qui a peu d'ecoute active et de respect client, démarche commerciale trop poussée, maison à sécuriser davantage

Mitten in der Natur

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Woche im Haus von Luca genossen! Die Sicht auf das ligurische Meer und die Küste ist unvergleichlich! Das Haus ist gemütlich und einfach eingerichtet. Geschlafen haben wir sehr gut und die Sicht aufs Meer vom Schlafzimmer aus und von der Terrasse ist ein Traum. Luca hat alles sehr gut dokumentiert und ist immer schnell erreichbar. Das alles muss aber verdient sein. Man darf den leicht susgesetzten Fussweg, der gut aber steil ist, nicht scheuen und schwindelfrei sein. Alles Gepäck und das Essen muss 20 Minuten runter- und später raufgetragen werden. Man kann es aber auch mit einem E-Piano, Cello und Geige schaffen :-). Ende Ferien waren wir jedenfalls fitter als zuvor. Wir kommen wieder!

Monesteroli , le paradis...

It was wonderful , amazing, quiet , crazy and challenging all the days as we expected. It's the return to the true life and back to basics.( e.a. the shower outside , just infront of sea) We were very happy and we had successful holidays. if you like sport , challenges , nature and quiet and breathtaking views, Monesteroli is the best choice for your holidays in "Cinque Terre". The restaurant "colle di Telegrafo" was a also a ideal stop-off before getting back home at night. The Pasta were delicious...unavoidable after tour in Cinque Terre. Thanks a lot , Luca for this "petit coin de paradis" .

Unique, amazing views, peaceful base

We spent 4 weeks here and enjoyed every day: the scenery was amazing and there was always something new in the horizon, the kitchen had what we needed, the bed was comfortable and best of all the location is so peaceful with just the sound of birds and waves crashing. We also enjoyed several wonderful swims down in Monesteroli (sticks were good to use as the lower track to the beach was a bit unstable after a slip). After a month of living here and exploring from here the Cinque Terre tracks and walks to Portovenere we certainly felt healthier in mind and body.

Breathtaking view, away from it all, private

So close to the famous Cinque Terre and at the same time even in July totally 'away from it all'. We loved this house. Beautiful location, amazing vista's (it's even better than the pictures, every night we were treated to the most gorgeous sunsets) and ... a bit adventurous. Loved to hike the old stone roads to the house, even when it was hot. The place is very quiet (the house is set high above the sea and above the little village of Monesteroli) and totally private. So you get unbelievable vista's, wildlife (wild boar and martens!) and a free workout. We left our car at the designated parking spot for the whole week and did everything by foot. There is much to explore and hike. For groceries we went to Biassa or Campiglia (the little store in Campiglia is sometimes closed when you don't expect it, but there's great pasta at PiccoloBlu which we also recommend, lovely hike down to the sea from Campiglia, but the way back is pretty heavy when it's hot). We even hiked with our children to Rio Maggiore, took a swim there and had a nice lunch at 'Enoteca dau cila', great location for watching people. Closer by, the food at 'Colle di Telegrafo' was really, really wonderful! We hope to come back to your lovely and very special house Luca! It was a wonderful experience. It really is... an experience!

Wonderful rest on this balcony on the sea,

We spent a marvelous time at Minesterolli ; first I was worried that our teenage kids would have been bored.. . .But not at all ! They told me how astonishing and beautiful was the place. They really enjoyed to be there. It is the way I like to spend my holidays: family, silence, sea, swim, visit, no clock, sun, view and sunset… I forgot sport ;). Everything was as described on the site , clean and comfortable . Luca is a very nice and accomodating owner. Maintain this unique place is an incredible challenge !

A nice and restful place in an exceptional spot

A very nice, clean and with good taste restored stone house. Full equipped; there is nothing missing, that could be needed. The terrace was really appreciated; large, quiet and with this superb view on the sea. It is there we spent the most time. If you are not afraid of walking down, then up again, about 1000 steps, it is really worth going to the seaside to take a bath. We really enjoyed it, because this steep track to the seaside is a unique experience. It belongs to this stay, that i would call a stay in the wild. As it takes about 20 minutes walking to reach the car, it doesn't make sense, having a lot of activities needing to take the car (like shopping, night clubs, restaurants, a.s.o). But the very most interesting sites to be seen around, especially the Cinque Terre, are reachable by foot, via absolute unforgettable tracks with permanent view on the seaside. It is the right and dreamed place to have a quiet and restful stay, if you like a natural life in the wild, sea bathing, sunset from the terrace and unforgettable walks.

Highlight of our vacation in Italy!!!

We rented this property to celebrate our combined 50th birthdays and were not disappointed. Not only are the views fabulous, but the house is equally amazing!! Luca, the owner, has done a truly incredible job renovating this historic house. We were very impressed!! He was also very helpful and accomodating while we were planning our trip. We ate our meals on the stone porch marveling at the scenery from our high perspective on the mountain. Then we fell asleep to the sounds of the sea. Our stay was incredibly relaxing and rejeuvenating. The stone house was very clean and the kitchen was stocked with all the ammenities we needed. We would recommend this house to anyone who would like to make memories that will last a lifetime!! Simply Amazing!!!!

Summertime and sun sun sun...

We loved it to eat at the terasse with this beautiful view to the cost of cinque terre. Children loved to shower outside and to have their own room. Last year we lived at Fossola an had a long way to the swimming place. So we enjoyed it, to climb only ca. 1000 steps down and up. It is a wonderful place to swim. We missed some bowls in the kitchen to put in food we cocked. And we were very astonished not to find a parmesan rub in an Italien kitchen! It was good, that christina showed us the way. Your description was perfect, but if someone personaly shows the way, it is easier. One point we were not happy. We arrived after a long trip, carried the luggage in the hot sun. Then we had to wait till the house was cleaned. You arrive in the smell and the dirt of people that left. That was not nice. And I was not content how Christina cleaned the house. She cleaned only the very nessecery places. The bath rooms and the kitchen. In the kitchen their hung dust under the steps. She did not clean the floors in the beed rooms. She was stressed because the power did not work and 6 person wear sitting their and waiting. Maybe therefor she cleaned bad. But otherwise I have no idea how to manage it. It is not possible first to clean the house and then come to La Spezia to pick up the people. But we had a good time. My husband allways looked at the house nearer the village Monesteroli. There is one house for "vendere". But I can imagine, what a hard work it is, to rebild this houses. Thank you for the possibility of this famose place. Catherine Langenbach Heusel

Dear Catherine, thanks for your helpful review! Missing bowls and parmisan rub will be added immediately(reason for not being there is that I do not eat parmisan...so I've never cared about it enough!). Regarding the cleaning of the house, I agree with your comments and sincerely apologise for that but you have very been unlucky on your check-in day: 1. Cristina normally cleans the house in the morning before new guests come in but that day she was not available in the morning 2. The solar system had a fault that day and I was trying to help her fix it over the phone to allow you to have electricity etc. She did prioritise that and was definitely stressed of leaving you without light 3. I was abroad and could not intervene myself on the day. All of the above happened on the same day which was a real pain! If you come back to Cinque Terre you'll be my guest for a week-end! Amazing views but a steep hike in.

This place was just what we were looking for - amazing views, access to the water, but away from the crowds. The 20 minute walk in is steep and unprotected for the last 10 minutes, so definitely not for those with young children. The house is clean and beds comfortable.

home with a view

It was a bit of a challenge, but after a 25 min. walk we we're rewarded with the most beautifull sight. We really enjoyed our stay in this cottage. And above all the quiet and beautifull surroundings. 930 steps down to the sea wich we had for ourselves, no mass tourism here. All the basics were available in the cottage. It was clean and the owner was very helpfull.
