Great house and stay!

Loved the house for a quick stay by the beach! Very easy check in. Hosts and neighborhood were great and really easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend and will be looking at going back for future trips myself!

Awesome beach house

We really enjoyed our stay! The house was so cute, clean and just the right size for us! It was a quick and easy walk to the beach plus the liquor store is nearby. Loved it and will definitely be back!

Cute little house

Great access to the beach. The neighborhood was quiet and not too busy. The house was nice and clean. Only down side was the ac worked in most rooms but struggled to cool master bedroom.

Why thank you Nicole, we think this is a cute beach cottage too! A new AC system was installed this year, so we are thinking perhaps the vent in the primary bedroom was maybe closed by the last guest? Sorry for any "warmer" inconvenience as a result, but we will definitely check things out. Thanks again!

Surfside …. Awesome!

Beautiful location, close to the beach. Not too crowded at the beach during our early October stay. Cute restaurants. Loved the fresh seafood store. Off the beaten path.

Loved this place !! Only negative was I think the beds need to be more comfortable.

We loved the location and the good eats close by. This place was clean and cozy !! The only negative is I think the beds and pillows could be upgraded. Make it like sleeping in a 5 star hotel.

Great place!

Blue Haven was perfect for our stay! You're practically on the beach and a short, 7-min walk to three different restaurants. The house is clean and bright and the WiFi was strong enough to let both of us work remotely. Hosts are awesome too- we loved our stay so much we asked if we could extend the stay by one day once we were there and they were able to accommodate us. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this property to anyone!

Thank you for allowing us to host you Shay. We are a bit confused however. Are you sure you are referring to the right home? This one is in town and is definitely not on septic. We also don't see any communication from you as to an issue? As for the size, the specific configuration and square footage are in the listing, so there shouldn't have been any surprises there on this budget-friendly spot. Additionally, it looks like you had a group of 6 which is the max group size for this 2 bedroom 2 bath cutie. We even state in the listing, "(sleeps 4 in beds, will allow up to 6 Guests)". We haven't had any other guest mention the beds as uncomfortable, but we do recognize this is subjective. Regardless, we're sorry you were disappointed.

Great little tiny house but SUPER HOT

The house met our needs with what we needed. The air conditioner never got cold..so that was uncomfortable the whole time. It was nice to be close to the beach but we were right on the street which was not great. Overall it was good just might need to look at the AC unit.

Seaside getaway

The house was a few steps down the road to the beach. We were walking distance to a restaurant and the liquor store. There weren't any baking sheets for the oven(I bought one and left it there). There also needs to be one chair in the living area. My friends didn’t like the cable selections, I don’t watch tv. Overall, the house was great and it was perfect. I had a great time. It met my expectations.

Place is very nice overall!

1st Septic tank seems to be leaking outside on the surface, through the hatch. A/C pan is dripping to the outside, which is creating a trip hazard on the stairway. Precious beach house, but please re-evaluate your cleaning crew. Towels had to be washed because they smelled. Plates, glasses, silverware were dirty, and cabinets doors sticky. Beds were super comfortable and clean!

Thank you for allowing us to host you and your group! We appreciate the heads up on the tank and AC pan. We'll have our maintenance team check those out. We are in a very sandy, salty and humid environment right on the coast which can cause linens to harbor a "beach" scent and dishware to have a bit of a film, especially with the front door being repeatedly opened or propped. Not sure if this was the case with the towels and dishware (haven't had anyone mention that before), but we have given your feedback to our housekeepers. Thank you.

Nice but...

Our first night at the property we encountered a few issues. There were ants everywhere, it took about to 3 to 4 days to be rid of them, abs had to dump food because of it. The dryer didnt work fully, but they came promptly to fix the issue. We were told at check in not to drink or cook with the water. Things like the water issues we need to know before booking as this made for extra expense on our part. The water was yellow! I understand not drinking or cooking with it, but it would have given us a chance to book elsewhere. We didn't even want to shower or wash dishes, so we bought paper plates and utensils, and showered minimally. We would have booked another month but decided to go back to a hotel for less stress and ease of amenities.

Cute but could use some TLC

We had a good experience; however, there were some changes that I feel are crucial to bettering the experience. The sofa is run down and broken. We laid a sheet on it to sit because it was visibly dirty and smelly. There are several spots that are broken and it was so uncomfortable that we mostly sat on the floor. The master bath shower head had such low pressure and the water never got passed lukewarm (so all 5 of us had to shower in the secondary bath), and finally the garbage disposal doesn't work. Within 20mins of arriving I went to wash my hands and the sink started filling. So, I turned on the disposal to help whatever was in there down and it did not work. We were unable to use the kitchen sink the rest of our trip. Some super awesome things to note is the swing. We loved that. The storage room below was perfect for storing our gear. The color of the home was super vibrant and beautiful. Our kids also slept super comfortably in the large bed in the bedroom. All in all, it was a decent place to stay, but we did leave a day early for the comforts of home.

We haven't had anyone mention a problem with the couch or disposal, but we will certainly get those addressed. As for the water pressure, that may be a product of the Village of Surfside's utilities given you stayed over Spring Break. The water pressure is known to fluctuate during busier times of year. Sorry for any inconvenience, and we will check that out as well just to confirm. Thank you again for staying with us!

What a great getaway!House was exactly as listed. Very clean and well taken care of. The starter supplies were very much appreciated. Check in and communications were flawless. Very short walk to the beach if you don’t want to drive. Neighborhood was quiet and friendly. Will definitely be looking at this and other 979 Properties for future stays in the area.

LOVED this house (Surfside a bit less)

I fell in love with The Blue Haven! It has an amazing covered deck, central A/C, and nice appliances. They're not kidding about the luxury-quality beds, bedding, and towels, either. So nice! The deck has a view of marshlands to the left, and a peekaboo view of the gulf to the right. Sea breezes feel great outside, and you can hear the surf. What a wonderful home away from home! Another plus: the property manager (979 Vacation Rentals) is excellent. Really great communication from start to finish! Easy arrival/entry - no waiting around for any reason. The house is a short, easy walk to the beach. It's also close to the main road, so there is some traffic noise. On Sunday (the day I arrived), the beach was packed with cars, people, competing sound systems, and mild chaos. If that's your jam, you'll love it. The beach wasn't the cleanest, and it's not as spacious as the beaches in Galveston. I ended up spending my days hanging out on the deck instead of the beach, and I was perfectly happy there! FYI, the tap water in Surfside is brown and smells like sour salt. It was an unexpected (and offputting) contrast to how fabulous The Blue Haven is. I took plenty of distilled water for drinking and cooking, but even showering felt a bit icky. Also, as a solo female traveler, I felt unsafe at times in the general area. Surfside is a very small town and kinda rough around the edges. I'm not a timid traveler, but there were several moments when I was walking alone that I felt vulnerable. Just a heads-up for all the single ladies... If stuff like that isn't an issue for you and your family/friends, then I recommend renting this house in a heartbeat! While Surfside has its quirks, The Blue Haven is its own special paradise!

Perfect Getaway

Easy, convenient access to the beach, lots of nearby seafood restaurants. The YACHT club served an amazing brunch. I would highly recommend this clean, nicely updated beach house getaway.

Blue Haven

Everything turned out great! Lots of items supplied there including pots, pans, dishes. Beds are a little hard but overall enjoyed our stay.

Cute House

The house was in good shape. However, the couch is old and uncomfortable and should be replaced ASAP. Needs bedside lamps on both sides of beds and a small chest of drawers in each bedroom would be an improvement. Towel bars in bathrooms kept falling off the walls and shower curtains did as well.

Overall great time.

House was excellent. We did have a problem with the cable TV not working (said connections needed tightening), and the smoke detector needing a new battery; it was "beeping" loudly each night and needed to be silenced. Other than those two small inconveniences, we really enjoyed our stay!
