We really enjoyed our stay in Boston. We loved this townhouse, and its historic character. Perfect location for exploring all that Boston has to offer. It is also a perfect location to participate or spectate the Boston marathon. It's a short walk to Boston common to catch the bus to the start of the marathon, or to venture down Boylston street to watch the race.

Great location and set up. Great small details such as misc toiletries and plenty of towels for our family. Walking distance to many great places and close to trains for those things farther out.

Everything was wonderful. All of the check in instructions were clear and easy to follow. The location was perfect; it was within walking distance of downtown, great eating, public transportation, etc. The townhouse was beautiful, clean, safe, and more than enough room for a family of 5. The hosts were very responsive and welcoming. Great place to stay!!

If you need to be in the centre of it all,then this is the perfect house. Large rooms, kitchen stocked with necessary items. Overall a great experience. Would stay again.

Great location. Super for a family. We would stay there again.

My family enjoyed our stay in this historic townhome. We could easily walk out from it to get around Boston. The owners were very attentive to our needs. The only note is staircases are narrow.

Thanks for the review! Your comment about the stairs is an important point to consider for anyone with mobility issues. All the stairways are as they were built in the 1800s.The front steps are steep, and the inside stairways to the bedrooms are steep, narrow, and, in places, have low (~6 foot) clearance. We just added a couple of new pictures of the front stairs and the inside stairs. If you have any concerns prior to booking, feel free to contact us.

I regret staying here. We arrived and there was someone sitting in the dark in the hallway. It turned out to he the host, showing up unexpectedly in an unpleasant way.The house itself is extremely old and not charming. It's located on a dirty alley near the freeway. There are holes in the floor that you can see through into bedrooms. The top floor is air conditioned by a large, awkward machine on the middle of the dining area that fails to get temperatures below 80. The rooms are all dusty with very old mattresses and cheap linens. You are basically sleeping in a bunker. None of the stairs are up to modern codes and are quite hazardous to small children or older people. The couch seemed to be missing cushions or it is just a cheap design.Great place if you love the smell of mildew.

Future guests should know that this review followed a problem caused when the guests shut off clearly labeled emergency switches for the boilers, causing their hot water to turn off the morning they left. This was professionally diagnosed by a licensed plumber. We escalated to VRBO directly after the guest wrote messages with, we felt, threatening language, including to write a bad review if we didn't comply with their demands. We encourage readers to view our many other great reviews and will address some of the items listed in the review. We happened to hear the guests come in the front door and opened our own door to welcome them. We were not sitting on the stairs in the dark and identified ourselves immediately. The photo is of socks dropped on the stairs up to our unit while shoes were being changed out. These stairs lead up to our unit, not the guest unit. We mention the non-standard stairs in the description in our listing. Code did not exist in 1867. Our cleaners take pictures before every guest for a record of cleanliness. Our unit is often praised for our wonderful cleaning crew’s work and a good night’s sleep.

Great location and neighborhood

Great place and location with easy walk to all areas in Boston. Paul was very helpful with all our needs. Kids loved the bedrooms in lower den. Had a great colonial Boston feel.

Celebrating Graduation with Family

Everything about this rental was spot on! Quiet location, very clean, well equipped with all the necessities and really great hosts. The layout was excellent for the family to get together and perfect number of rooms/beds to accommodate us all. Really nice place to celebrate our youngest's college graduation. Thank you

Great long weekend in Boston

This was a perfect spot to get around to so many things we wanted to see. It was an easy walk and Close to the orange line. Also an easy Ride Share to other locations. There were plenty of great food destinations within walking distance. The host were very accommodating and super nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and would stay again!

This comfortable, well-preserved property filled our Boston travel void, with its wonderful location near the Theatre District, Boston Common, and Tufts. Offering clean rooms and a safe and quiet neighborhood setting. Only two negatives, both minor: the next-door neighbor had sewer construction equipment blocking the main entrance for the entire Saturday, and the kitchen's cutting knives are in dire need of replacement or sharpening. We all would definitely inquire about staying again, and I will even bring a bread knife.

Perfect spot in Boston

This historical location is perfect for your stay in Boston. You are within walking distance to Emerson College, which worked out perfectly for us. This is a three level apartment so keep in mind, but it wasn’t a problem for my parents that tend to have troubles with stairs. We met both our hosts, and they are wonderful. I would definitely recommend.

Susan and Paul are amazing host!!!!! The property was amazing, location is close to all you could possible want to do. If you going to Boston to enjoy the history then you will love this home. It comes with it own history both Susan and Paul are very knowlegable about the house history. We enjoy the scrape book they gave us to look at. The kitchen is fully equipped and then some. Spacious rooms and bedrooms. Most of all it is not a house it is a home. Looking forward to our return trip. Thank you so much Susan and Paul for making our trip fantastic. If you are looking for a place in Boston stop looking you just found it.
