When a 3pm check-in time is confirmed and I make plans around this, and then come to find out the owner prefers 5pm, and the owner’s rep refuses to respond to my messages, well, the bad review starts there. 5pm is ridiculous. The driving directions were poor. From the parking lot we were told to walk through a gate. There were 3 gates and 1 door, all 4 with a sign indicating which led to which cottage. None were marked for Cosy Cottage. 15 min later we learn the cottage was located not through a gate but through the door, and the door was marked with a different cottage's name. We were required to check out at 9am but stuck around until 10am. The cleaner had not yet arrived. Disrespectful. As for the place itself, it is dark, musty, and on a heavily trafficked road forcing us to sleep with the windows closed. I had to purchase a fan. On the positive, Bourton-on-the-Hill is an extraordinary location and its pub is a gem. I’m generally not negative, but the professionalism, respect, and value wasn’t on par with the price.
