We had a huge splurge for celebrating multiple family birthdays. Villa Renaissance was the perfect place for us. It had absolutely everything we needed and wasn't too precious so that we felt right at home. There were 3 generations: 11 people in total: 5 "children" loved the third level to themselves, each with their own bedroom and in 3 cases their own bathroom ensuite the second level had 2 bedrooms, one for each couple of parents (each with their own ensuite) and the main level was reserved for the grandparents, 2 bedrooms with a Jack and Jill bathroom.
The pool was the biggest hit with all especially because we were there in 37 C heat!!!! The outdoor furniture was beautiful and there were lots of different spot were we could dine at home when we chose to do so.
We chose to have a chef come in to prepare an Italian meal with us and that was definitely fun!
The Villa was 10 minutes into Lucca which is charming with rental bikes to "do" the wall around the city and have lunch at a magnificent restaurant along the path.
The Villa is probably about an hour and half from the Cinque Terra. We parked at La Spitza and took the train up to the most northerly Monterossa and hike down. I recommend this hike. I also recommend that you don't do this in the summer. I think that everyone was ready to leave home after Covid. It was SUPER busy!
We all had other day trips, one to Pisa (fun for everyone), a train ride into Florence, otherwise used our cars with amazing GPS
