Walnut Tree Cottage: sleeps 3 with 1 reception room, 2 bedrooms, downstairs shower room & WC, off road driveway parking for two cars, extended gardens, terraces and garden seating.

A tranquil retreat

As an interim resting place during a change of residence, Walnut Tree Cottage offered a comfortable and well equipped home from home. It was ideal for my requirements.

A short but magical holiday

Having previously enjoyed a stay at Crow Cottage, my wife and I decided to try Walnut Tree Cottage on the same estate and were not disappointed. Internally, it provided us with just the right mix of ancient and modern while, outside, each of the garden areas were wonderfully varied and tranquil. An idyllic spot to visit and one we shall go back to in the future.

Another good stay in a beautiful place

This was our second visit to Walnut Tree Cottage, but our umpteenth to Belmont. We had a lovely relaxing stay, with good but not scorching, weather (as it was last time!), and didn't travel too much.. There were a few technical problems in the cottage (no TV signal, and the dishwasher a bit problematic), to which we have drawn the attention of the Estate management, but these did not really detract from the enjoyment of our stay in this wonderful place.

A cosy autumn break in a beautiful location

Myself and my daughter enjoyed a lovely, cosy Autumn stay in Walnut Cottage. It was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. A stunning historical building in beautiful gardens overlooking Belmont House. The heating stopped working while we were there but the team sent an engineer within 2hrs of our call and he fixed it immediately. Location was great: very accessible and yet felt a world away from busy life! We visited Faversham, Leeds Castle and of course Belmont House, where we did a fab art course. Would absolutely return - and recommend to friends and family.

A much needed break

I had a lovely time the cottage and location were perfect, so cosy I loved the fireplace and the garden, it had everything you needed fukk marks 😀

Return stay

Return stay to this beautiful cottage. We love it so much. The garden was fantastic. Our toddler spent hours running round. Comfortable sleep and kitchen now has prosecco glasses which I mentioned at last review. Will always stay here and can't wait to book again

Return visit

Been many times now to Walnut tree and still love it. Has all your home comforts and a wonderful garden to explore with a toddler. Only things that could be improved are if there were some prosecco glasses in the kitchen and if the bed was bigger in the main bedroom. Will return again as love the privacy the location and the cosy cottage.

Another lovely stay

Stayed here numerous times. Location is excellent and the cottage is peaceful and cosy. The garden is absolutely beautiful and our toddler loves roaming about in it and feeding the numerous birds. Beds are comfy. Wish the large bed was a king size rather than a double. Kitchen has everything need but bring basics like cooking oil. Kitchen roll etc. will return again.

Birthday stay

This is a wonderful picturesque cottage, with a large semi enclosed garden to the side and front, along with off road parking for 2-3 vehicles. The kitchen is a good size with appliances and crockery etc and on arrival fairly clean but we did have to rewash a few items prior to use. Bathroom was adequate but worth noting that as its on the ground floor adjacent to the kitchen, you have to walk this, then living Room, in order to reach the stairs to then proceed to the bedrooms, quite a trek in the night. The living room was great, having the ingle nook fireplace which looked amazing. We didn't use the log burner as the central heating was sufficient but did notice, that there were logs and a few sticks, there weren't any fire lighters to ignite the sticks. There was a tv in the room but felt that this really needed updating to a smart one. We only used the main bedroom and this was fine, bed comfy and plenty of cupboard space for clothes. Overall, our stay was very good, a lovely position but was a short drive to a pub or shops. We did have a minor infestation of ladybirds, which weren't too much of a problem but could have been addressed.

Little piece of paradise

The cottage is tucked away in a very beautiful and quiet part of the countryside. With cottages of this age you have to mind your head because of the low ceilings, but we found this charming. There is a gorgeous and very large private garden, and the cottage itself is a good size with a well-equipped kitchen and is very well maintained. I would highly recommend it.

Not for the tall

A well maintained cottage with comfy bed and quality linen. Beams are low, particularly in the kitchen / diner, so it was difficult to relax for us (both being 5'10 and over). Has a lovely garden with some unusual wild birds.

Beautiful cottage

The cottage is a little gem of a place, full of character and very old, set in a stunning location, (although if you are over 6' like my husband you may have a few head bumps by the end of your stay) . It's so peaceful, with stunning views. However, it could really do with some love and attention inside and out as the house and garden are very neglected. Such a shame as the location couldn't be bettered and the cottage could be picture book perfect.

What we Found

A lovely cottage in a wonderful peaceful position, just a shame that we hade to call Belmont Estate to sort issue's with a fallen down back gate and fence, a kitchen plinth continually falling down, and the garden that was overgrown. We feel that these issue's should have been checked and sorted prior to our arrival. The only other issue was the lack of kitchen amenities, such as kitchen roll, tin foil, washing up liquid and a measly two toilet rolls. Apart from the above issue's we enjoyed our weeks holiday and would definitely return.

A lovely break from London

Walnut Tree Cottage is delightful. The large and slightly over-grown garden is even more delightful. The views across to Belmont are incomparable. We have stayed several times at the Prospect Tower on the Belmont Estate and several times on another cottage on the estate but rather further away. We also visit Belmont for the day from time to time when suburban life becomes too oppressive. It is a lovely quiet haven of peace. The staff are very friendly but entirely unobtrusive. The pay-as-you-go tearoom is probably unique. We love the place, and loved the cottage - and didn't really go anywhere else.

comfort and condition

The double bed (new?) makes a lot of noise. It is also quite small if you consider the size of the room. For summer nights a duvet a far to warm; it would be nice to provide some single sheets or any other light bedlinen.

Lovely cottage and garden

The one disappointment at Walnut Tree was the erratic and poor tv reception. BBC channels really were not accessible and it is not a smart tv, so the entertainment choice is very limited. Otherwise the cottage is perfect, well equipped, very clean and comfortable, in a lovely rural setting but only 10 minutes into Faversham.

Idyllic country cottage

Great cottage for 2 or 3 people. Well equipped and it even has a dishwasher! 2 good sofas to sit comfortably on next to the log burner. Garden wildlife is amazing - take bird seed for the table - we saw 22 species in the garden alone. Belmont house and gardens are great too - not so much to see in the winter but still a nice easy walk. Plenty of walking from the house, nearest pub is approx 3 miles walking cross country - will help you build up an appetite! All this and and yet only 10 mins (by car) from Faversham and all it holds (good food, shopping, antiques and many many pubs etc) Had a great time - hope to come back next year.

Location of the cottage is excellent, very peaceful, nice garden, close to Belmont and North Downs.

The condition of the cottage (regarding maintenance, comfort and cleanliness) could do with some updating for instance: the deep freezer was full of ice at our arrival; all knives are quite blunt; the kitchen chairs are quite wobbling; the bathroom fan was out of order and maybe this is the reason that there is already mold in the bathroom; the garden bench and table are very heavy, no change from sun to shadow and vv possible. the changing of the bedlinen and towels (we had a 14 day stay) was not according to the information booklet in the cottage;

Lovely cosy cottage

We've been in many lovely cottages for our holidays in the UK, but Walnut Tree is the nicest of all. Small and cosy, and has everything nou could want for. Fine shower. Large bed is oke. (Smaller bed could do with a new mattress). It was warm in the house when we arrived: very welcoming in the autumn. Everything you need for cooking is available. Public footpath right next to the cottage, and you may walk on the estate grounds and gardens whenever you want. Yess, you will bump your head more then once. (We both 6 feet tall) But the low beams are part of the charm. We will definitely return!

The cottage was super, just as we hoped. It was situated in a very peaceful location and conveniently placed for our exploration of Kent.Just to emphasise, the beams are very low in places and my husband cracked his head a few times when he forgot to walk round hunched over!

Charmantes Haus

Ein wunderbares charmantes Haus. Achtung: die Decke ist sehr niedrig, man stößt sich leicht den Kopf. Aber davon abgesehen ist es toll, der Garten einfach schön, die Einrichtung sehr gemütlich und schnuckelig.

Stay at the Walnut tree cottage

Excellent cottage, excellent garden, everything fine. The cleanliness scored 4 in stead of 5 because the kitchen crockery was not completely clean.
