A Magical Stay in Sintra
Vitorino Deluxe is a charming stone house high up in the hills of the Serra de Sintra. It is equipped with all modern conveniences, especially a high-end kitchen, nice bathrooms and fast and stable internet (very important for our teenagers). The house can accommodate up to 6 people, but with four adults and two teenagers in our group it did feel a bit busy because of only two bathrooms. It is very well decorated with a whimsical style which we quite liked. It was simply a pleasure to just spend time inside and outside on the grounds. There is a small cocktail pool, which is refreshing and great for a morning swim and afternoon soak. The grounds are well-maintained and are essentially an orchard, which the owners encouraged us to use: we made quite a few lemon cakes from the lemon trees that one can pick right off the porch. The house is easily accessible, it is a 10-minute drive to the charming town of Colares with a great supermarket (Atlantico has extremely friendly staff) and an awesome pastellaria (Do Moinho), which became a daily pilgrimage. Several beaches are a 15-20 minute drive, our favorite being Adraia with a great fish restaurant. What made this stay magical were the nights when the fog/clouds rolled in and enveloped the property. It was peaceful and quiet and we felt transported to a different world. Finally, our host Daniel was a delight. Very friendly and extremely responsive to even minor questions. This is a well cared for and loved property.
