Herbstferien mit Kinder

This apartment was exactly as advertised and the owners were extremely helpful and accommodating. From beginning to end was great. We received a warm welcome, including a welcome package of food (including bread, water, fruit, beer and wine) which was much appreciated after traveling with kids! They also provided a very well arranged binder with a lot of information regarding Carvoeiro and the surrounding area. On slower mornings for us adults the kids loved that they had access to KIKA shows that they normally watch at home. The pool was always clean and the surrounding neighbors were all friendly. The location is great as it is within walking distance to everything you could need, but far enough away from the nightly scene in the town center. We also played tennis on the available courts which was great.

Family vacation to Carvoeiro

From the moment we decided on Carvoeiro as our family vacation spot in the Algarve booking Rory and Jane's property was an absolute breeze! Rory was always available during the process and makes for a wonderful host! The condo is in a great location of the complex and walking distance to town. We found the two bedrooms and two bathrooms perfect for our family! The shared spaces(living room/dining room) are large and spacious, with comfy furniture and tv with multiple multi language channels. We loved the large patio that was just steps away from the pool (the complex has many pools to use) The condo had all the comforts of home! We loved the addition of beach and pool towels, along with beach accessories! Rory was a short distance away so he was easily available for anything we needed. We already know we will book again in the future! Thank you for a wonderful stay, we were sad to leave! Cheers, Nicole and Tony

Marvelous!

Our holiday home was perfect for us and we really enjoyed our stay. - All rooms nicely decorated, proper and prepared, - the kitchen staffed with the right and enough equipment ( e.g. dishwasher...), - a detailed and well prepared folder with lots of information about the location, where to go for eating, all different kind of sight seeing tours, interesting areas... When we arrived the first day the fridge was already equipped with a basic selection of good food and beverages. For us a charming surprise! During our whole stay Jane and Rory were very pleasant hosts. On top of this Rory personally gave us tips for nice destinations near by but also useful hints for daily shopping possibilities ( e.g. where to find an excellent bakery, location of the supermarkets). Those information helped us a lot getting familiar with the local Portuguese environment in a very fast way. It was a deeply relaxing holiday period in a beautiful country. Looking back we regret that we could not stay longer but we will definitely come back again. Thank you for that!

Holidays 2020

This year within the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic until July 2020 it was not clear if we would been able to spend our holidays in Portugal in August (as originally being booked in January). Luckily the travel restrictions to Portugal were released early enough and completely for August and September. Because of our outstanding experience the year before with our first stay in the holiday apartment of Jane and Rory, it had been obvious for us to book it again for our second stay in Portugal. We were more than happy with our decision. It was a very warm and friendly welcome. The apartment was well prepared. One room was surprisingly new decorated and equipped. All in all, this created a real welcome atmosphere from the beginning. A lot of little useful and unexpected tools and accessories were part of the standard equipment e.g. mosquito spray, a little notepad and even little disinfection dispenser. Also, a lot of insider tips where to go could be found in a well prepared folder. In addition to that further and latest updates of nice restaurants and places to be tried and visited were verbally provided by Jane and Rory. According to our previous experiences with different accommodations not real obvious things. We enjoyed every minute of our stay in Portugal and Carvoeiro. Taking this year’s exceptional circumstances into account, our booking decision for the apartment of Jane and Rory and all their personal support were the key elements for an exceptional holiday feeling and an active rest. Honestly something that we were not really expecting this year- thank you so much! Next time when we travel to Portugal and the Algarve Jane's and Rory's holiday apartment is going to be our first and preferred choice.

Uitstekend appartement

Foto’s komen prima overeen. Alles was aanwezig.

Rory was a very helpful and informative host. The special treats and staple items left for our use was very much appreciated! His property was very comfortable and felt like home. Very clean and nicely decorated. Perfect location for a 6 minute walk to the heart of Carvoerio. Would definately recommend. We would return to this location.

Jammer van de verhuurder

Prima vakantiepark dat gunstig gelegen is. Inrichting in woning gedateerd.

As can be seen from our reviews, our next guests into this apartment were more than happy. ("Thank you very much, Rory and Jane for the pleasant stay in your apartment!"). We have had very positive reviews from all our other guests, with the only negative being the old wifi system, which we have completely replaced. This review has come solely as a result of our claim against their deposit for breakage. It is never easy nor pleasant to claim against a guest´s deposit and we wish we did not have to. The “invisible” damage was that a footrest on the lazeeboy-type sofa was open and could not be retracted after they left and there was a loose piece of sofa frame on the floor. The seat itself had a broken front edge that was clearly visible. Photos demonstrate that this was not invisible and that sitting on the seat would have been very uncomfortable. Fortunately it was possible to mend it after some hours work, otherwise the sofa would have had to be replaced. We are confident that the problem did not exist when the guests arrived as we welcomed them personally to the apartment.

Monte Dourado

Rory and Jane were fantastic hosts. On arrival, they supplied us with a superb array of groceries and were very informative on what to do in Carvoeiro. The apartment was spacious and within walking distance from all the amenities. The beds were extremely comfortable, the 2 showers were handy so there's no waiting around when getting ready to go out and the washing machine meant that we didn't have a huge amount to do when we arrived home! All in all the apartment was great and so were the hosts. I would definitely return. Thanks for a fab stay, Stuart, Angie & Cameron

a Tranquil haven in the Algarve

We were welcomed by Rory who showed us round the beautiful apartment and explained how everything worked. The property was bright light and modern and very comfortable. As well as a welcome pack in the fridge, the cupboard had every day items ,salt sugar oil etc. We had breakfast each morning on the sunny terrace then spent our days on one of the many beaches nearby. The apartment has lots of information on where to go and what to see. We can’t wait to return. Margaret +Bob from York

Nice place with AC but no internet

The apartment was in good condition, comfortable and in a quite area. One of the bathrooms did not have a vent or fan, so I would list that as something that can be improved. One other thing...it was advertised as having internet but the reality was even though the resort has WiFi, there was no internet the entire week, and it didn’t seem like that would get fixed anytime soon. I advise guest to confirm that before booking in this resort. The reception has 4 routers that they handed out if you reserved or if they were available, so that helped a bit but still inconvenient to pick up and drop and they were not available every day. Owners were very nice people, so if the two issues with WiFi and vent get resolved I would probably rent here again.

Hi Florian, (Edited May 2019: We now have our own Wifi for the apartment and the TV has 160 channels in Eu languages.) Thank you for your review. We appreciate your honest feedback and understand the issues with the wifi, which frustrate us as much as they frustrate you. We will be providing vents in the bathroom. We continue to work with the complex on the wifi.

Thank you Family Devos. We really look forward to welcoming you again. Here is an English translation of your review. Very beautiful with a fantastic welcome by Rory and Jane.Monte Dourado, Girrasol 25, Rua dos Combatentes, Carvoeiro, Faro, 8400-569, Portugal Date of Stay 28 Jul 2018 The apartment is really beautiful! It is located in a tourist village, Carvoeiro, yet it is quiet and everything is close. You will be welcomed by Rory and Jane and these are really fantastic people. You will be received personally by them and will receive a lot of information and a welcome pack that is very full (you can through the first day with it: bread, cheese, butter, milk, fruit juice, beer, wine, ...) Wonderful Rory and Jane, here you feel immediately welcome. The apartment is very nicely furnished and equipped with everything you need, both appliances and cooking equipment and all of very decent quality. It has a nice pool that is never crowded. The apartment was very cool at the beginning and we did not need the air conditioning as well. The last days it was hot, but the air conditioning worked perfectly and silently. The stay is highly recommended for a holiday in the Algarve. Visit the area because it is very beautiful and because you are in the center of the Algarve everywhere not far away. With this I especially want to thank Rory and Jane for the hospitality. This is a fantastic couple that we would like to meet again. A lot of love from the Devos family from Belgium and we will see each other again.

Great apartment! Great hosts! Exceeding our expectations.

Just enjoyed a fab holiday in Rory and Jane’s lovely apartment. Linda and I and our 2 girls Hannah (24) and Sophie (21) had 12 nights in Carvoeiro at the end of June/beginning of July 2018. Great welcome from Rory and Jane, who were also most helpful and attentive during our stay, with advice about local restaurants and places of interest. We arrived to find a welcome pack in our fridge and essentials to get us started on holiday, which enabled us to feel at home straight away. The local beach and restaurants in the bustling town centre were only a 5 minute walk from the apartment with plenty of choice to suit every taste and palate. Our 2 favourites were Ele e Ela ( traditional Portugese and Meditarranean cuisine) and Earth cafe (offering Meditarranean and Vegetarian options). The apartment was well located, in terms of it’s proximity to the village, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the busy centre to enjoy a quiet and relaxing environment. It also had the advantage of having a communal pool and 2 tennis courts close by. For any of you wishing to stay out late at night Mungos music bar is open until 4am. Needless to say our daughters were regular visitors!! We hope that anyone else choosing to stay here will enjoy their time as much as we did!!

A Beautiful Apartment with fantastic Hosts

We stayed in Rory & Jane’s lovely apartment for 8 nights. We arrived late to find that Rory & Jane had left us some supplies that were gratefully received. The apartment is truly a home from home, fresh, clean and comfortable. The sofa’s & beds were extremely comfortable. The kitchen had everything you would need for a self-catering break.Towels for bathrooms and the beach were provided so we didn’t have to take our own and it’s always handy having a washing machine so that you don’t have to take home a load of dirty laundry. They have really thought of everything, even with a selection of books on the shelf to read. We would sit out on the patio having morning coffee in the sunshine which was nice. The apartment is within walking distance of the town for shops, restaurants or the beach. My Mother has walking difficulties, so it was important to us to have a ground floor apartment (3 steps up to the front door) and a walk in shower for her, which is one of the reason we chose to stay here. Thank you Rory & Jane for allowing us to stay in your lovely apartment and for your wonderful hospitality. We cannot wait to return.

Spacious well kept apartment

We booked this holiday rental for two main reasons, one it had a walk in shower and bearing in mind the time of year we wanted a wood burning fire: we also knew it faces the morning sun and that too was important though the balcony of the flat above somewhat overshadowed, but breakfasting on the patio was very pleasant. The apartmentment is well kitted out with a value starter pack but could have been improved with a small amount of washing up liquid and powder for the washing machine. The main bedroom was spacious with a large comfy double bed, bedside lights each side and a huge wardrobe. The aircon worked fairly well on hot though it is not enough for a cool or even cold evening, but doubtless the summer cooling effect is well received. Too cold for us to use the pool which is close, but not too close, but it was clean and well maintained with a side pool for toddlers. The sitting room was well set out with a dining area, two settees which converted to beds, a cd and dvd player and a tv which managed to receive some UK tv programmes: the wi-fi worked well. A nice place to stay and not too far from the village centre though it is downhill there which means the opposite coming home!
