Glenernan Self Catering Cottages

The room comes with a very comfortable double bed with memory foam mattress and has an ensuite shower room with walk-in shower. All bed linen, towels and a hairdryer are provided.
Glenernan self catering cottages are situated in the beautiful village of Ballater, on Royal Deeside, set amongst the stunning scenery of the Cairngorms National Park.  Suitable for couples or the single traveller, the cottages provide holiday accommodation that is within easy walking distance of all of the local amenities including Ballater's Royal appointed shops, fine restaurants and Ballater Golf Club.
Glenernan's one bedroom cottages, Glenernan Cottage and Glenernan Bothy are available for weekly holiday lets and also for short breaks, and make an ideal place from which to explore Royal Deeside, the Caringorms National Park and further afield.
Converted from the old servants quarters in the grounds of Glenernan House, formerly a B&B, the cottages offer luxury self catering accommodation with parking and free wi-fi. Access to the cottages is wheelchair friendly.
Ballater has a long standing Royal connection and Balmoral Castle is approximately 8 miles West of the Village along the famous River Dee.  Many local walking, hiking and cycling trails and river fishing are easily accessible from Glenernan's holiday accommodation, as are the Malt Whisky Trail, Scotland's Castle Trail and the Victorian Heritage trail.  With Glenshee and the Lecht ski resorts nearby, Ballater is also an ideal base for winter sports fans.
As part of a long held tradition, the Ballater Highland Games are held annually on the second Thursday in August in Monaltrie Park, Ballater.  There have been Games held in Ballater since 1864 and, apart from the war years, the Games have continued uninterrupted until the present day. 
Both Glenernan Cottage and Bothy offer beautiful one bedroom self catering holiday accommodation of similar layouts; having a kitchen/dining area on open plan with the living area. The Cottage and Bothy sleep 2 in a double bedroom with ensuite shower/wet room and are well equipped.

Super- will stay again.

A lovely little cottage. The owners are friendly, helpful people. Very easy to work with but never intrusive.The cottage is spotlessly clean with a comfy bed and everything you could need without being cluttered with stuff you don’t need! We particularly liked the private little patio.

Schönes , sauberes Cottage - alles was man braucht, zentrumsnah in Ballater

Wir haben fünf Tage in Ballater verbracht und diese Cottage war der Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge und Wanderungen. Das Cottage liegt ruhig, etwas zurückgesetzt in einem Wohngebiet. Zu Fuß sind es ca. 10 min nach Ballater, wo man alles bekommt, was man braucht. Es gibt einen Supermarkt, einen Metzger, ein Fischgeschäft, mehrere Restaurants und Cafés und Geschäfte für den täglichen Bedarf und Souvenirs. Das Cottage war sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet.

Perfect short break

We had a lovely short stay at Glenernan Cottages. The cottage was very comfortable and cosy. Lorraine was very welcoming and provided all information needed. Would not hesitate to stay again.

A lovely self-catering cottage that fits well into the character of the surrounding area

We had a very enjoyable week's holiday in September in this one-bedroom cottage full of character. The river Dee and all the shops and restaurants in Ballater were a short walk away. An easy drive to some wonderful places such as Loch Muick and Burn O'Vat. As I understand, this is one of two small family-run cottages and the back of the owners' house. The owners are a helpful, friendly and polite couple.

A lovely wee stay, just what we wanted.

A lovely weekend away from the city, after covid cancelled our plans to honeymoon in Paris in spring 2020 we finally settled on a weekend in Ballater in summer 2021. My husband and I were hoping for comfort, quiet, access to open spaces and castles and that's what we got. Two nights in the lovely bothy, visiting Balmoral and taking long walks. We cooked in the accommodation one night and ate locally the next. It was perfect.

Loved our stay at the cottage

The cottage was ideal for us . Everything we needed for a self catering holiday. The wet room was ideal for my husband who has mobility issues and the little patio gave us outside space. Great comfy beds and everything spotlessly clean This is the second time we have stayed here and we are looking forward to coming back for a third soon

Just. Like home

Clean.tidy cottage , all you find is just as described. For a married couple it was perfect, though not suitable for children, but then Ballater itself is not a place for teenagers.
