Gareth is a very friendly host, he answers very quickly and is available at any time. He was so kind to let us stay until the afternoon on the day of our departure, as our flight wasn’t until the evening. The house is located in a very nice area near the sea, near the natural pools, restaurants and small supermarkets. But there are quite a few things that could be replaced – be it the shower head or the plates; almost every plate has a crack in it, or other kitchenware like the peeler for potatoes – and, above all, the mattress in the large bedroom, when two people are sharing the bed (60 kg and 85 kg). It’s so worn out on both sides that you can only sleep in the really middle or on the outer 30 cm of each side. We lay awake for hours and woke up the next morning feeling absolutely knackered, glad that the night was over. In the room with the two single beds, the mattresses feel firmer; our son slept well. The chairs on the top floor were very wobbly, we didn't dare sit down and didn't use them.In my opinion the cleaning could have been done much better, not only the wardrobes and chests of drawers were not very clean. We didn't use the Jacuzzi for this reason, it was not clean enough.WiFi was not good but this is perhaps a general thing in Punta Mujeres. The bath room didn't smell good, our son named it "the cesspit".And also the sofa and furnishings had a bad smell, musty and old.The best thing was the location of the house.

Sounds of the sea

A wonderful week at Gareth's apartment in Punta Mujeres. Close to the sea in tiny holiday complex, the well-equipped apartment has all you need for a great stay. Offering a lounge balcony, rooftop terrace and jacuzzi, the apartment offers a relaxing space from which to explore the island. A 30-minute drive from the airport, getting around the island is easy with a hire car and there are plenty of sightseeing locations nearby. We swam in the sea pools just a few minutes walk from the apartment most days and surfing is an option for the water sports tourists. Overall, a great, well-priced location to which we would happily return!

Perfect seaside apartment

We had a wonderful week here. The property has everything you need for a family holiday by the sea. The apartment is spacious and homely and the roof terrace has great views. The hot tub was a added bonus! The location between Arrieta and Punta Mujeres was perfect for us. We enjoyed the local sea pools every day and this was definitely a highlight for us being so close to them. The beach at Arrieta is also close by and great for enjoying the sea and local seafood. The host was easy to communicate with and on hand if we needed anything but we didn't! Thanks for a lovely stay.

Exactly what we needed!

My mum, sister-in-law and myself have just returned from a fantastic stay at this super cute property. It's just what we expected, wanted and needed. Gareth the owner helped us sort out one small issue within an hour and lives locally so on hand if needed. We had a great time. The location is away from the tourist hotspots but within walking distance of natural sea pools and some great restaurants. I'd recommend hiring a car to get out and see some of the island (there is ample parking). Would definitely recommend staying here and I for one will be back, potentially solo next time. Thanks Gareth.

Overall good, with a few problems.

The property was clean and well positioned. There were a few problems that were dealt with but should have been sorted before our arrival. The fridge was broken which meant the freezer section was only usable for ice cubes as the door was broken and had to be wedged shut with a piece of cardboard. It really needs a proper fridge freezer and a few more items in the kitchen like jugs and heavier frying pans for the ceramic top.

Yes we thoroughly agree with the recently damaged freezer door...As its a built in unit we are waiting for the part from the manufacturer. On an island that can take a good few week but it is in the process of being replaced.. We take on board that the kitchen cooking utensils could do with adding more or even upgrading. Thank you for your constructive feedback.

This review score does not reflect our property in its entirety. The guest left mid stay without a single message or call to myself. Eventually they stated that they left because they did not like the community practice of placing the toilet paper into the bins provided. Had they have known this was the case they would not have chosen to stay here. They felt that we had miss-advertised our property based on this. In many years of being in this business this is a new one for me. You also will not find one holiday rental, bar or restaurant online advertising the use of paper bins in there bathroom facilities. Its just something we live and accept with here at our rural location. We are sorry you did not choose the right type of property for yourselves and your child, and encourage anyone who reads this to read all reviews before and after to get an honest opinion on Casa del Mar..
