We live only 10 minutes away and have a lock-box with code given before stays so that our guests feel comfortable enough to go and come as they like, but can also be confident that we can be with them speedily should they have any concerns.

Neighbourhood overview
Elkstone is one of the highest villages in the Cotswolds, situated half way between Cirencester and Cheltenham in the heart of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Getting around
There are three pubs in and around the village. The Green Dragon is a 17th-century inn with the bars and furniture made by the famous 'Mouseman' Thompson of Yorkshire. The Highwayman Inn dates to the 17th century also, though the original buildings were erected in the 16th century. The Inn is located at a crossing on the old 17th-century turnpike road. A bit further afield is the Colesbourne Inn, another coaching inn, dating to 1827, standing midway between Cirencester and Cheltenham.

Communication from the host was great, with very helpful recommendations.The house had everything we needed for our stay, and was perfectly located for exploring some of the nearby towns and villages.

The property is lovely, spacious, and located in a beautiful area. The hosts were friendly and communicative, the property was well equipped, and it was way to get to Cirencester and Gloucester from there.

To be clear, based on the following story we made the decision not to stay in the unit and the comments are based on our short time in the unit. On arrival we were both hit with an overpowering smell of either a cleaning agent or a room freshener. The smell was so strong, to the point of both of us developing a headache. We spent approximately 30 minutes in the home, with every door and window open, and we were still overwhelmed by the odor. We decided to leave and spent the night at a local hotel.We contacted the owner/manager who was kind enough to go to property,(after we had vacated) and communicate to us quickly that she felt the odor was not significant by the time she arrived. To be clear, it was our decision alone to leave the unit and our decision alone not to stay, thus forfeiting the entire prepaid fee. Other comments- The house sits adjacent to a major 4 lane highway, with clearly audible road sounds, including cars and large trucks (lorries), clearly audible from inside home with windows open.As can be seen from photos, the ceiling in the bedroom is vaulted. It is rather low for a 6 ft. tall man.

Fantastic Cottage in Lovely Enclosed Garden

Had a fantastic short holiday and this lovely cottage. Very spacious for a one bedroom. The cottage is beautifully presented with some quirky decor touches, which make it feel very individual and not at all like a generic rental. It has a really lovely atmosphere. The garden is enclosed so fantastic for the dog. There are some really nice places to visit not too far away. Communication with owners was also excellent. They did all they could to make staying their property as enjoyable as possible. A well deserved 5 out of 5

Comfy and stylish

Beautifully finished with brilliant amenities and comfortable bed and furniture. Well located for exploring the Cotswolds with beautiful views from the garden. Wonderful hosts, very responsive and helpful.
