Penn State Weekend

Cabin stay for whiteout game

Excellent place to stay for the whiteout game! We loved the cabin and would come back. Loved how quiet the location was, as well as how easy it was to see the stars. Perfect place for our weekend.

Great place - getaway for a PSU weekend!

Perfect cabin location, close enough to be near PSU but far enough to not be caught up in the craziness. House is clean, comfortable and perfect for a family and friends weekend!

Great location!

A great location for visiting State College. It’s a beautiful setting about 20 min from PSU. A fine alternative to a hotel for a game weekend.

We went for the weekend to visit our son at Penn State. Short drive from cabin to campus, 20 minutes. Very clean. Would stay again. The only negative was the water but we were warned and brought our own

Great place and beautiful location.

This is a wonderful house on a beautiful piece of property. 15 minutes from Penn State. Great layout for a crowd. Remember to bring you own sheets and bath towels.

Perfect Rental

Great place to stay. Very clean, stocked with kitchen essentials. Cozy, comfortable, owner very responsive and attententive to our questions/needs. Great location. Would highly recommend, will look to book again in the future.

Loved JC’s Lodge!

The AFrame style log cabin’s location is convenient to University Park, yet removed from the crowds. Great layout to hang with the family inside and out, with beautiful views. Wonderful, detailed communication from the host. First experience with well water and stay ouside of campus, but we brought bottled water and there was also a brita water pitcher. We would love to return to this location for our next visit if available.

Perfect getaway

This 2 BR, 2 BA cabin is clean, quiet, spacious, and private. Plenty of room for 2 of us but could easily fit more. Less than 20 minutes’ drive to Penn State’s campus, making it the perfect blend of convenient yet private. The only issue—mentioned in other reviews—is the slight sulfur smell in the water (sink and shower). Other than that, this place is a gem!

Perfect getaway

Very clean and pictures do not do this cabin justice. One of the nicest we have stayed in. Definitely will be back! Beautiful property and owner was great to deal with.

Great Hideaway

We stayed for a wedding and it was in a perfect location! The place was beautiful/clean inside and out. We did listen to previous reviews and recommendations from the host on the well water and to bring your own. It worked out perfectly! Definitely will stay again!

Weekend getaway

We enjoyed our weekend stay at this nice and cozy cabin. Great porch to relax on, comfy beds. Water was definitely a little smelly, but based on other reviews we took our own water. The upstairs bedroom closet had quite a bit of mouse poop in it, but I’m sure we were one of the first families to visit this year. It’s very close to Penn State and Bellefonte, which was nice since we went to both. Overall, we would stay here again.

Penn state weekend

Cabin met our needs. About 20 minutes or so to get to stadium with no traffic to worry about! Upstairs bedroom a little warm at night, and definitely a sulfur smell to water, but that was disclosed in the description so we were prepared for that. Worked out great for us!

Nice cabin. Would have been more enjoyable if it had been clean. The place needs a lot of maintenance. Very private location. Water not only tasted bad but smelled terrible.

Julian PA house

The house is beautiful. Very spacious with high ceilings. Very neat and clean. I loved the artwork, which was all nature photography of animals and birds. I had breakfast on the wrap-around deck each morning. The property is surrounded by trees and nature, so being outside was wonderful. Even just sitting and reading and listening to the birds was so peaceful. The property owner was very responsive. I would definitely stay there again. A+ rating

Great cabin!

We love this cabin! It's so nicely done and has everything we needed. The location is excellent for paddlers planning on running the Red Moshannon (which is what we did). My brother's comment was that after 20+ years of participating in the Red Mo race, we finally found a great place to stay. The recommendation to bring our own water was spot on. The well water is smelly. Fortunately we've all experienced that before. We saw the recommendation and followed it. Only oddity was on our first evening. 2 guys came strolling up the drive, looking for a party since they had seen the cabin lights come on. We politely disappointed them by explaining we had no partying plans. Only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!! We definitely hope to come back!!

Beautiful but there were some issues

First of all the house & property is amazingly beautiful and was definitely relaxing. The owner responded fast & was friendly. There were a few issues: the toilet downstairs very easily clogged up twice, the a/c seamed to blow cold but it was not enough to cool the house down especially upstairs (thankfully we brought an extra fan with us, which was definitely needed), and the rugs were full of dust and caused us to sneeze a lot (my eldest daughter had it especially bad as she is sensitive to dust), my two year old son was playing around the rug and has to have his hands washed because of how dirty he was. The water smelled very strongly like sulfur (egg smell) when showering, though that is noted in the book upon check in. We couldn't find brooms to sweep the floors, and didn't realize the sheets and towels were in the dressers until a day after checking in. Overall we had a good time, but because of the issues (which could be easy fixes), I have to rate it fairly. Side note: I do want to stress to others to make sure to check several times for ticks when coming in from outside as we checked once with our two year old & immediately went to shower where one had latched to his belly during that very short time.

Loved the cabin!

Beautiful cabin the middle of the woods. Such a pretty spot. Cabin is really nice inside, beds were great, large and stacked kitchen. Perfect spot to be near Penn State!
