I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your holiday in our house at Trevenec. We know that the weather was very disappointing and I was interested to see the report in Le Telegramme daily news feed that quite a few holidaymakers in Brittany had decided to cut short their holidays on account of the weather - see https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?tab=rm&ogbl#inbox/FMfcgzGtwMgkgRFVrxzFFlZSKdzWnRhSUnfortunately the weather is something over which we have no control! However, we do not accept that the house furniture is old and broken down or that the house is dirty. We were there just two weeks before you arrived and the house was clean and tidy when we left. There were no other guests before you and we know that our cleaners always leave the house clean and tidy when they go in to prepare the house for our guests. My wife had removed and washed all the crockery and cutlery during our visit and all the surfaces were wiped clean, The beds are not damp or damaged and we have never seen a snail in the house!! The house is about 200 years old and has been well refurbished but is of a particular character known as a longere. The furniture is in good repair and has been chosen to be appropriate to the character of the property and items have been regularly replaced as needed in our time as owners and the photos of the interior on the website show quite clearly what it is like. The living room and upstairs bedroom were re-decorated last year, the velux windows and blinds, the back door and the large downstairs alcove window replaced also and a new patio sunshade purchased. The electric heaters have nearly all been replaced. We have never set out or advertised the house as an ultra-modern luxury apartment, but as a comfortable, well-equipped house with a good-sized garden to use as a base to visit a lovely part of France, where there are lots of interesting places to visit, wonderful beaches and warm seas. I tried to advertise the week you decided not to stay but it was not possible to re-let the house at short notice. Since your visit we have had other guests whose views of the house have been much more favourable and we do monitor the cleaning of the house to ensure that it is ready for our guests.

It is very unusual to have guests who do not respect the rules for renting our holiday home. On this occasion two additional people were invited by our guests to join them at the house without our permission; our private linen and towels boxes were opened and ransacked for additional bedding and towels and it was necessary to retain the deposit in order to cover the additional costs of our cleaning team, who prepare the house very carefully so it is clean and ready for each new group Our guests for the following week, who were also French, reported indignantly that there was no sign of spiders and that they found the house extremely clean and tidy and greatly enjoyed their stay.
