We were initially a little nervous to stay in a condo instead of a hotel but it was definitely the right choice! This VRBO condo is part of a condo-resort property with lots of amenities: 2 pools, 2 small putting greens, bbq grills (by the pool), shuffleboard, and it is adjacent to the ocean.
Pros:
- location! (In a few ways: (1) this unit faces the ocean and, being on the second floor, has the added benefit of no foot traffic right outside your door. (2) Papakea Resort is conveniently located to Kanapali and Lahaina but also far enough that it feels like it's removed from the hustle and bustle (3) conveniently located to shops and restaurants.)
- clean, updated space
- towels, beach chairs, full kitchen, smart TV
- comfortable bed
- the most beautiful sunsets (and the sunrises are also stellar)
- nice patio furniture
- close to a public beach
- easy to eat in (all meals)
Cons:
- kitchen has salt and pepper but not sugar, oil, or coffee. This isn't a deal breaker, of course, but I've stayed in other rentals that did have these staples (or at least enough to get you started).
- no A/C in the bedroom. That being said, we stayed in mid July and the bedroom was a comfortable temperature at night
- no direct beach access and, although you can get in the water nearby, the swimming/snorkeling isn't the best (hard to get in/out, very rocky, rough in the afternoons).
