Traditional apartment close to beach & golf, stunning views & free parking.
This is our 2/3 bedroom traditional executive apartment set on the upper floor of a 19th century blonde sandstone listed building located within the wonderful seaside town of Ayr, in the very heart of Burns’ country!
A quiet, family friendly idyll located near to Ayr Beach & enjoying stunning south facing views across the golf course & The Old Racecourse to the Carrick Hills, Inverdon is within minutes’ walk of Ayr’s beautiful beaches, parks & golf courses, restaurants & bars and yet enjoys a tranquil setting nestled within its own mature grounds.
For those with their own transport there is free, private off-street parking at Inverdon and we also have a garage available for our guests if you need to store bikes etc. The area is also well served by the local bus service and Ayr train station is approximately ten minutes’ walk away. For those travelling from further afield, Prestwick International Airport, Scotland’s only rail served airport, is a 10 minute train ride away or 15 minutes by car.
You can find a video tour of Inverdon, all our reviews and lots of really handy info on our web site, just search online for Inverdon Ayr and we'll pop up! We can't accept bookings through our web site but it's definitely worth checking out!
Entry opens into the welcoming reception hallway with access to all main apartments and to the front you will find the impressively spacious, dual aspect lounge with an L-shaped sofa to relax into and an enveloping armchair in the bay windows from where to enjoy those spectacular views, with or without the provided telescope!
When you’re in the lounge, please don’t forget to look up as we’d hate you to miss one of our favourite things about Inverdon, the original features. The ornate, original cornicing you’ll see above you was restored a few years ago having been discovered hidden behind an artexed false ceiling! The ceiling rose was originally in the middle one of three ceiling sections before Inverdon was converted into flats and a third of the lounge was partitioned off to form the kitchen you see today. The third part of the ceiling is still there, above the false ceiling in the kitchen, but we decided having a 20-foot-high kitchen ceiling with ornate cornicing might look a bit daft so we left it.
To the left of the bay windows is a dining area with a circular dining table, pre-set, ready for your arrival while to the right of the bays you will see the 55” High Definition Smart TV on which you can access all of the Freeview channels as well as the complimentary Netflix account we have set up to say thanks for staying with us!
Beside the lounge is the modern kitchen, complete with integrated oven & hob, washing machine, dishwasher, coffee machine with complimentary coffee pods, juicer, toaster, microwave and kettle.
Off the kitchen you will find The Tower Room which was incorporated into the original architect's plans by the owner, who wanted somewhere he could go to get a bird’s eye view on Race Day as the expanse of greenery you see in front of Inverdon is the location of Ayr’s original racecourse, until it moved to its current location on Whitletts Road in 1907, hence the names ‘The Old Racecourse’, ‘Racecourse Road’ and ‘Racecourse View’.
Nowadays, many of our guests enjoy an early morning coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner or even just for a relaxing seat in The Tower Room, enjoying the fantastic views to the front of Inverdon overlooking The Old Racecourse and beyond.
At the end of the main corridor, you will find the contemporary shower room featuring sink, loo and walk-in double shower with a fixed ‘Rainfall’ shower head and separate mobile head.
Rounding off the accommodation at Inverdon are the two double bedrooms, both of which have suitcase holders, clothes rails, USB sockets, hairdryers, half-length door mirrors and wide screen Smart TVs which can access our complimentary Netflix account, YouTube and other online TV services. The main bedroom also has an additional fitted wardrobe.
Inverdon is nestled within its own mature grounds so please feel free to make full use of the communal gardens and seating areas but please be aware that other Inverdon residents may also be making use of these areas. Pets are welcome at Inverdon!
Inverdon is a beautiful, relaxing, family friendly place to be so we ask all guests to please be considerate of our neighbours in respect of excessive noise. Inverdon is not the place to be if you're looking to have a party, loud music etc, sorry!
Please let us know in advance if you have any additional requirements for young children etc and we will do our best to make sure that you have everything you need on arrival.
Hi, we're David & Tia and we're offering our former home in the beautiful seaside town of Ayr in Scotland, Inverdon.
We spent many happy years living at Inverdon and we still absolutely love the building, the grounds, the apartment and the location...... but we have an Old English Sheepdog (Parsley) and he's getting on a bit now so finds the stairs a bit too much.
We didn’t want to sell the apartment so we got rid of Parsley. Kidding! We moved for the wee fella and he’s got his own garden now so we thought we’d let others enjoy the wonderful apartment, the fantastic location & the breath-taking views!

Inverdon benefits from many original features, the most outstanding of which is the restored original ceiling cornicing which is absolutely stunning! You can see part of this cornicing in the photos but you need to see it in the flesh to fully appreciate the skill & craftsmanship involved.
The views from the lounge bay windows at the front of Inverdon are staggering with open aspects across The Old Racecourse, Belleisle Golf Course and on to the Carrick Hills. With this in mind, we have a lovely, comfortable armchair in the bay window so you can properly relax and enjoy the views! We also have a telescope in the bay so guests can fully appreciate the stunning views!
