It was a hassle to get the information for checking in but it did all work okay. On arrival, it was hugely disappointing that the fridge was switched off (why?) so we couldn't cool the food or drinks we brought in the car. The fridge was also not working properly - one of the doors didn't shut properly as the magnetic seal had gone, so a couple of times the door didn't close at all and the food and drinks were warm. We also found that the kettle didn't work - the light came on but the element did not heat up, so we had to use a saucepan to boil water all week.We also found that the kitchen and bathrooms were not very clean, especially the areas like skirtings, floors and door frames. Unpleasant, so we cleaned. Beds were comfortable and bed linen was soft and pleasant. but the blinds were not blackout blinds so I struggled to sleep. My bedroom was so small there was only room for the bed, so I had to put all my stuff on a windowsill - worth knowing if you are coming in winter with more than summer light clothing.

Great Property to Explore Northumberland

This property is just as described. It has great views over the birding sanctuary. While it is a bit out of town, it is close enough to explore this coast easily and have a quiet place to relax in between excursions. There is a lift to the first floor where the apartment is and there are stairs inside the apartment to the living and kitchen area. The small bathroom has a shower and the larger bathroom has a tub. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it to others.

Potentially lovely but fell short in lots of unnecessary ways

The apartment is charming, atop the watchtower in a restored mill, & the main living-room/kitchen is lovely, with sloping ceilings, dormer windows & huge fridge & plenty of seating. The bedrooms are pleasant, especially the main one, with lovely views across the bay to Holy Island. The kitchen is reasonably well-stocked. However, no-one bothered to turn on the heating before we arrived (nor leave any sort of welcome tray, never mind anything Xmassy) so we arrived to stone-coldness. We had to fiddle with the heating to discover the heaters in 2 bedrooms didn't work properly/at all; the dishwasher was broken down (seal had fallen off); the bathroom window handle had fallen off so it couldn't be closed; both toilets 'rushed' so one had to lift off the lids & fiddle about to close them; the cooker extractor fan & light didn't work. This created a depressing 'owners don't care' feeling, set up by the lack of a welcome of any sort. A sign where to leave rubbish was almost impossible to understand - again, carelessness. Only 2 rolls of the most meagre 'budget' toilet paper were provided. All rather disheartening & I found myself wasting day after day messaging the agents (for fear of being blamed for things breaking down). They eventually got fixed (bar the cooker) but that was a week into our 11 days. So hopefully the owners will spend a few hundred quid & sort all that out. Because as I say it's potentially really charming - & in summer most of those things would matter less.

The position of the Clock Tower is absolutely lovely and there are three good sized bedrooms. Beds were comfortable and clean. The ensuite is tight in size and the toilet has to be fiddled with to stop it running, no where to hang wet towels in the main bedroom.The living area is a good size with great views, but cleanliness and general lack of love with some of the items is really disappointing. The telescope shown in the pictures of this rental is stored at the back broken and unusable with a grubby highchair.The oven was grubby, 2 oven gloves need to be binned and replaced as they were disgusting. Pans were grubby and some need replacing, Place mats were also burnt/dirty. Some of the plates were chipped too.Some of the velux window blinds don't roll down and stay as catch on one side is broken. The oven extractor fan is not connected to the ducting. One of the chairs has been left too close to a storage heater and has left its melted design on it. There is a corner with some patched tatty chairs which we assumed were for dogs??No information on recycling so it appears everything goes in one bin??We took lots of photos as didn't want to be blamed for damage and I messaged directly on the VRBO app and to be fair got prompt messages back asking if we wanted to have someone in to rectify these, things but we said not during our 3 day stay.The parking is misleading as only 1 space.Not cheap, could be great so disappointed.
