Town: St Day was named after a little-known saint named Day or Dye (better known in Brittany). The village presently features a pub and a convenience shop, as well as a granite gothic-style church from 1828. The beautiful village of Portreath is six miles away, and its wild and rugged coastline attracts visitors from all over the world. The area is characterised by high cliffs, quiet coves, and sandy, surf-washed beaches, with evidence of the area's strong industrial background all around. Portreath has a tiny fishing harbour, shops, a few pubs, three cafés, and a Chinese restaurant, in addition to its safe, sheltered sandy beach.
