Weekend Get Away

I hosted my girlfriend's Birthday for 12 people. The property is could have easily handled 30 people during the day. there is so many outdoor areas to hang out, that a weekend didnt give us enough time to explore them all. The lights and fireplaces at night made for the perfect setting for the gathering. The estate is so big, that you never have to deal with neighbors (except for the farm next door where the animals do wake up a bit early). The hot tubs did not fully work (jets), but here hot enough to enjoy. My friends will be keeping this property in mind for our next weekend get away. The town is close enough to get supplies, but far enough that you feel like you are in the country. Great Weekend.

Divine Intervention, A BIG WOW!!

It just as close to the "Garden Of Eden" you will find! We were lucky to know a prior guest who recommended this Ranch to us & i wanted it to be an unforgettable 50th birthday celebration for the husband. Thank you Lisa & Jerry for all your hard work on coordinating the extra vacation rentals for all our guests, the amazing hike, the wine tasting at Casa Baranca & Old Creek Winery, Chef Frances was just way beyond the expectations with the Fresh Pink Grapefruit Chile Martinis, even the the local taxi guy "DUTCH "was great !! The whole experience was a sense of DIVINE INTERVENTION!!! We just loved all the little details, luxuries, uniqueness so much, the rafts, outdoor fireplaces, secret paths, games, rock showers, the garden, & we loved the "Bunk House" so cozy & fun!! The Ranch should be kept SECRET, but if you do find it consider yourself IN PARADISE FOUND!!!

Magical stay on lush quirky property

12 women stayed through the weekend for a relaxing bachelorette party and everyone was RAVING about the property the whole time! Beautiful landscape and pool/hot tub set-up, neat art around the property, basically something wonderful to discover around each corner. HIGHLY recommend :D

Great Funky Getaway

We stayed here with our family and a couple friends for my sisters birthday - the property is phenomenal! The pool was great for during the day and the hot tubs perfect when it got chilly. The large dining table outside allowed for all of us to eat together. Bed linens were clean and very comfy. Owner was very easy to communicate with and got back to us quickly if we had questions. Would definitely stay again!

Rainy weekend @ the RTR didn't ruin our fun

We rented the RTR for my husband's 50th birthday, hoping to enjoy the spacious outdoor areas, pool, jacuzzi, hammocks, tiki bars, patios, and ping pong with 10 of our closest friends and their kiddos. Unfortunately, it rained the ENTIRE weekend! Thankfully the roofed patio off the cabin with its raging fireplace and canvas curtains helped us all stay cozy, warm, and together to reconnect and celebrate. We spent most of our time right there! The house, cabins, and grounds are just as beautiful and magical as everyone describes and its clear a lot of love and care went into cultivating and curating the property. The accommodations were perfect for our group. We picked fresh tomatoes and peppers to add into our brunch, and enjoyed the Santa Maria style grill to make tri-tip for dinner. The hosts provide LOTS of wood for stoking the fire all weekend. I wish we had better weather to make full use of the rest of the property... next time! We'll be back, RTR! Thanks Lisa!

This is a special experience.

Our family stayed here during Thanksgiving, when it was very cold and rainy. We had a wonderful time. But it is a unique property best enjoyed when the days are a bit warmer. That’s because this property is an oasis. Most of the 3 acres have been cultivated into a tropical paradise. There is a lovely pool, tiki bars, 2 outdoor fireplaces, 2 hot tubs and a ping pong table. The grounds are dense with palms and ferns. There are decorative rock pathways in every direction - most leading to a seating area. There’s plenty of outdoor lighting, too. The property is fully fenced which meant the dog could run and roam without danger. In fact, my Rottweiler mix may have had more fun than anybody! Inside the house the modern necessities are in good form - WiFi is strong, TV pictures looked great. Please know that, with the stone pathways and such, it is most enjoyed by those would have no trouble walking on uneven ground. The style of the house and cottage is rustic. It’s plenty comfortable. The beds and linens were luxurious. However, they are structures meant to evoke a different, more rural sense. Lots of stone, lots of wood, fireplaces, leather couches, but not big, open spaces inside. This property is to be relished more outside, than in. Plenty of beautiful spots to practice your yoga or Tai Chi outside. Too cramped for that inside. Once there, if you brought provisions, you really don't need to leave. There is beauty out every window. There are man-size tikis and statues and a Buddha in a small, low pool. Truly a fun place to be! One more bit of advice - the neighborhood has a number of farm/ranches with livestock. If you hate roosters crowing in the morning, or sounds of farm animals- bring some ear plugs. (We loved it, but not everyone does.)

An Enchanting Vacation

Our three generation family of seven enjoyed Rolling Thunder Ranch with its cosy rock fireplace, koi ponds, pool, jacuzzis, and outside Lanai atmosphere. The main house was the gathering place, with its elegant western decor. The property was well equipped with everything to make our stay comfortable. In the village of Ojai we visited the spas, the famous farmers market, quaint shops, and had our fiftieth anniversary celebration in one of it's upscale restaurants. We will return. It was a lovely get away vacation. Thank you!

Tropical Paradise

As soon as the big, friendly, property gate opens, the natural beauty will take your breath away. The inviting pool and palm trees and spacious grounds set the perfect tone for our family gathering and small evening soiree. We had both a casual pool party and elegant celebration combined. Run don’t walk...

This property was absolutely amazing. My only regret was that we couldn’t stay the entire week. The pool was perfect. We cooked, read in the hammocks, and had so many places to hang out, we could be all together or have a little privacy. Even our little dog was in heaven exploring every unexpected corner. We loved discovering all of the bird houses, art work, and loving touches. This house is definitely a labor of love! If you are going to go - two pieces of advice. Bring flip flops to wear outside and leave at the door. Some sharp tree thingies are in the yard and can get caught in the house and they hurt! Second, there is no dish washer, so plan on some hand work or bring disposable stuff. We didn’t mind, but come ready. Especially because once you are there, you will not want to leave to go out to eat!! Best to sit under the tiki umbrella and and have lunch while still in your bathing suit. :) We will be back!

Family Vacation Saved.

Booked Rolling Thunder Ranch last min when our camping trip turned ugly. Lisa was amazing and the property is fantastic. We've stayed a bunch of places both with kids and without over the years, this is in a class of it's own. Funky without being sloppy, cool without being cliché – full of love, art and soul which echos the owners. We'll be back.

Unbelievable

This place is amazing. So secluded and private and delightful. Even a several families staying here together would feel like you had lots of privacy. Totally delightful!!

Fabulous bachelorette!

We had an absolutely incredible time at Rolling Thunder Ranch and will absolutely be back! The pictures don’t do the property justice. It’s stunning and downright magical. Lisa was a joy to work with and made check in/check out super easy, even offering late check out if we needed it. She also turned on the pool heat a day early for us, (free of charge!) so that it would be ready to go when we arrived. Can’t say enough good things about our stay here. I had a phenomenal bachelorette weekend with 14 great friends thanks in large part to RTR and Lisa!

Amazing oasis!

This property is truly fantastic. The pictures can barely showcase the scale of the space. There is ample room to stretch out and large areas around the pool and in the yard Ind this property is truly fantastic. The pictures can barely showcase the scale of the space. We had a large group come stay and were able to utilize the wood fire grill to cook for everyone with beautiful areas for dining outside as well. W across the grounds. We were also very pleased with the high-quality air mattresses and pull out beds that allowed us to accommodate extra gas. We hope to return again soon!

Great outdoor entertainment space

We celebrated my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary at the Rolling Thunder Ranch. Our stay was great. There was enough space for everyone. The heated pool worked out perfectly. It was great that there was plenty of wood: We used the grill and both outdoor fireplaces all weekend. The two kitchens worked out perfectly too. Plenty of room for all our food. I also was able to bake my parents cake in the cottage. Highly recommend and hope to come back again

This property is so much fun!!!!

Lisa & Dillon were so friendly and accommodating. They were very professional and offered so much input to our crew for where to hang and dine in town. Everything was stream lined, one of the heaters were down when we arrived and with in 15 minutes of reaching out, it was fixed. Not only is this property a unique & next level experience, but I have & will continue to book their other properties in the Ojai area. I highly recommend booking with this company. They’re lovely people who want the best for everyone.....they made our trip — truly.

Magical Oasis in Ojai

I celebrated my 40th Birthday in paradise. The house was perfect for our friends as we are a very tight bunch that don’t mind sharing rooms. We paid to heat the pool all weekend which was money well spent. We swam all day and night and used both hot tubs and fire pits. The wood burning BBQ was really fun to cook on. We will definitely be coming back to this house for another celebration or just a random weekend away from LA.

Wonderful Property

We had the best time staying here. Could not believe how many trees are on the property. It was fairly cold but we utilized the indoor and outdoor fireplaces and stayed warm the whole time. We kept talking about how incredible this place would be during the summer. Hopefully we can make it back soon.

I can't even put into words how magical this property is. The house itself, the surroundings, the details - all made for such an unforgettable weekend. For my birthday, my boyfriend and I planned a weekend getaway with some of our closest friends. It ended up being the perfect weekend - literally people left saying "that was the best weekend of my life." The property is very difficult to put into words - clearly the pictures are amazing, but they don't even do it justice. It's so relaxing and peaceful. Someone even voluntarily slept on the hammock outside because it was so tranquil! Ojai itself is magical, and a favorite of ours as far as weekend getaways go (we're from LA)... but we didn't even really feel the need to leave the grounds because it was so lovely to just hang around the pool, on the grass, in the house, BBQing all weekend etc... I highly recommend this property. Both Carla and Lisa were so lovely to work with and very accommodating throughout the process... I know we'll definitely be back at some point in the future. Thank you guys for offering us your lovely home!
