Town: Longest place names in Europe may be found in the village of Llanfairpwllgogerychwyrnd on the island of Anglesey. Locals affectionately refer to it as Llanfair PG. As a publicity ploy for a railway station in 1860, it was dubbed "St Mary's Church in the Hollow of the White Hazel Near to the Fierce Whirlpool and the Church of St Tysilio in the Red Cave" in Welsh. Llanfair PG, located near the Menai Straits and the Britannia Bridge, is a great option for families. Once you've had your picture taken in front of the village nameplate at the train station, walk on over to the well-known visitors centre to get the lowdown on the area. The Marquis of Anglesey statue and column may be found within a short distance from the octagonal Toll House, where you can pay a nominal fee to ascend the 115 steps to the top for stunning views of the countryside and shoreline. St Mary's Church and Nelson's Monument are both easily accessible from the Menai Straits shoreline.
