Neidpath Barmkin sits within the curtilage wall of Neidpath, and once housed the kitchens for the great castle. The large living room has an open log fire, TV and wonderful views over the river. The property is all on one floor with a Kingsize fourposter with ensuite shower room, a Twin zip & link Room and bunkbed room plus a family bathroom. The eat-in kitchen is well equipped and there is garden space front and back with table and chairs, as well as a lockable shed with bike rack and outside tap. The historic and lively town of Peebles is a 10 minute walk away.

Not only one of the most wonderful stays in Scotland but one of the most wonderful experiences of our lives! How often do you get to stay AT a castle? One that is so authentic, with so much history and run by staff that is absolutely second to none.
We can’t say enough good things about this place, the comfort, the location.
It’s the embodiment of this beautiful country and these incredible people.
Thank you so much Sandy. We love you.
Stayed at Neidpath Castle " Barmkin " beautiful property in the Scottish Borders ,
Barmkin has everything you need , it wraps its arms around you and gives you a big "hug .".
Comfortable family property and ideal for visiting Edinburgh, Peebles and all the other beautiful Towns around the Borders
The most magical room for the most magical day!!! It was absolutely perfect, like going back in time but spotless and with modern facilities. I felt like a complete princess. I wouldn’t chance a thing. Thank you for everything.
Our wedding guests stayed in the Barmkin and all said it was fabulous. The beds were comfortable and the accommodation was clean had all necessary amenities. The location is set in such a beautiful backdrop. We would highly recommend staying in the Neidpath Barmkin.
Fantastic stay in an idyllic and historic location
We had a 3 night stay with our adult daughters and son-in-law. The barmkin was lovely - very cosy and decorated fitting the history and period of the castle. Booking and check-in was seamless. The location was fabulous with great walks along the river, whilst being close to the charming town of Peebles. We booked a private tour of the castle, which is a must-do if you are staying here. We can only recommend staying here and will be back.
Have stayed many times before and once again did not disappoint. Fantastic location for easy access to Peebles and beyond with a lovely cottage to relax in and enjoy the views
The location was ideal—nestled in nature and history, yet just a short walk or drive into Peebles. We had a guest with limited mobility, and the place was wonderfully accessible. The rooms were beautiful and cozy, making the stay absolutely perfect.
It’s perfect for what we needed at the wedding. We had somewhere for the older guests to relax and for the younger kids to sleep without losing anyone for hours at a time. As a place to stay its brilliant and can’t be beaten.
This cottage was accommodation for our wedding party, but I would recommend it to anybody looking for a stay in somewhere special. The cottage sleeps 6, with a beautiful interior and a welcoming open fire. With stunning riverside walks on your doorstep and a stones thrown from village pubs and restaurants, it's a must stay for anybody visiting peebles!
The Barmkin has a wonderful location within the grounds of the castle and a garden overlooking the river - a real sun-trap. There was a generous welcome pack of fruit, bread, milk, tea and coffee and the kitchen was well-equipped. There is a steep path down to the river and it's a pleasant 1km walk into town.
We were there for a cycling holiday and there are several spectacular routes on very quiet roads. The Tweed Vallet Trail is traffic-free.
I would thoroughly recommend The Barmkin for a place to stay.
A beautiful cottage with everything you could possibly need in an amazing location.
The only reason for the comfort medium rating is that we chose to stay despite having no power due to the worst storm for 100 years! - had that not been the case, the comfort rating would be excellent
The owners gave us other options but we decided to stay and they were very helpful with candles and logs - it was all part of the adventure!
