Ortolan Villa is a stylish lakeside house with hot tub set in 550 acre beautiful Nature Reserve. It has excellent onsite facilities & activities, with luxury spa access, swimming pools, watersports, bike hire, tennis, restaurant, bar & pizza shack.

Sleeps up to 8 in 4x bedrooms & 3x bathrooms over 3 floors. Master double with ensuite & balcony, 2x double ensuites & 1x twin/double bedroom. The open plan living area leads to decking area, hot tub & BBQ. Cosy snug with 48” Smart TV. Pets welcome.

• Excellent Water Sports - Paddle boarding, kayak, canoe & rowing boats
• Somerford Lagoon can only be used for non-powered water sports between the 1st of April and the 30th of September
• In order to minimise disturbance to overwintering wildfowl, the footpaths to the Southern and Eastern edge of Somerford Lagoon are not accessible from the 1st of October to the 31st of March
• Spinney Lake is available for non-powered water sports all year.

Enjoyed our stay

This is my second time in one of Orion Holidays properties. I visited with my son and three very young grandchildren. I love the views from the houses overlooking a pond or lake where there is lots of wildlife to observe. I like the green spaces between houses and it was very dog friendly when I brought my dog on the first visit. We had the indoor swimming pool included in our deal but unfortunately it was closed on the first day so we only managed to use it once. We went to the outdoor pool instead which is heated to a good temperature despite being outdoors. My son and children hired bikes and were out and about most of the time on them. The Balihoo restaurant is very convenient for a meal and we took advantage of the "Children eat free" deal. The houses are very comfortable and well equipped and the hot tub was a bonus with the children.

Relaxing and rejuvenating!

Lovely property, very spacious and welcoming. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and very clean throughout. Although there are neighbours on both sides, its not overlooked and is an incredibly peaceful place to stay. Lovely to be able to go on the water straight from the back door. We had a really gorgeous week here and would definitely return. The only negative was that I felt the outside space was a bit tired and cramped. It could do with a freshen up but that didn't stop us enjoying our time out there lounging and watching the Heron and ducks on the lake!

Mostly very god

As indicated the actual villa was excellent. The only negative point, as we mentioned last year, is that the villa is listed as having direct lake access. This was important to us. But the only access is a very steep, very muddy slope. There is a metal bar sticking out of the ground half down which is dangerous. There is no railing so you have to depend on other people hauling you up from the lake as getting up the muddy slope is impossible.

A peaceful place to relax and enjoy.

Our villa was immaculate, spacious and comfortable. Everything we needed for a fun family weekend away. The villa is peaceful and quiet - the hot tub is a lovely treat too. There are great places to visit just a short drive away. We had a great time - thank you.

Beautiful property for a relaxing break

The property is beautifully appointed and very spacious. It has everything you need for a relaxing stay with touches of luxury throughout. This was our second time staying at Lower Mill and we very much enjoyed a swim in the outdoor pool. Food and drinks at Ballihoo were very good. We only wish we’d stayed longer!

Brilliant holiday!

We had a fantastic holiday at this Villa. We went as a family and stayed 4 days. The location is very scenic and the property is very well maintained. We had a lovely time and Orion holidays made it a very good experience.

Great place for a family getaway

We stayed here with a group of 6 adults a teen and one child. The amount of space was perfect and we really liked the snug as an extra room for kids to escape and watch tv or chill. Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed - and plenty of room around the table for meals. House was clean and tidy when we arrived and communication with the host was excellent. We enjoyed the amenities at Lower Mill Estate as well. One minor grumble - a lack of laundry detergent to wash clothes during our visit. But otherwise a fantastic stay!
