OLONDI: Spacy 1 Studio Plaka Beach Cottage

400 sqft Studio with integrated kitchen and separate bathroom, large double bed and extra sofabed, seaview, 2 private gazebos and private sunbathing terrace directly on shore. Brand new renovated 2022 with new kitchen new appliances etc!

50 ft. from the waterline a small flock of three separated cottages on a beautiful and safe plot of land. (Fenced) Few steps to the sea. Nicely brand new renovated 1 studio cottages with vaulted high ceiling, ca. 400 sq.ft. (about 37 square meters), large comfortable double bed (King size), separate sofa/bed, view to the sea, inside and outside eating area, built in brand new kitchen, separate windowed bathroom with marble tiling, Shower, sink, toilet. Studio room has full A/C. Private outside Gazebos with table and chairs, with unobstructed view to the sea. It would be hard to be closer to the sea or in a more relaxing spot with the soft sound of the waves around you. And it would be hard to find such a safe location far away from the big cities but still in short walking distance (ca. 650 ft, ca. 200m) of a friendly little fishing village with many original tavernas and cafes. A bus stop close.

You will have your environmental friendly (complete photovoltaik autonomy) private studio with seaview, a private outside area that is separated from the 2 other cottages with tall natural stone walls. Your outside area has an esting place, shade by a pergola as well as a private sunbathing platform with seaview directly by the sea!

You have an english and greek speaking host that lives a few miles away. she can organise for you e.g a rental car and is there for you regularly.

The cottages are located ca 100 meters from Plaka village, just a short walk along or behind Plaka Beach. Plaka has many taverns and cafés as well as a beach bar. On very rare occasions (2-3 times during the whole summer season) there is life music in one of the restaurants or beach bar that can be heard over the bay also in the cottages. It usually stops at 23.00

Outstanding property

Amazing place to stay for a week of relaxation. I cannot overstate how immaculate and beautifully kept the cottage is. We stayed for a week for mostly just winding down after a stressful few months and this place really delivered.

Absolutely Perfect Stay

The property was well maintained and had all necessary amenities. The location is absolutely perfect, quick access to Plaka beach and an array of local restaurants. The villa was private and quiet and we cannot wait to come back. Christine was incredibly helpful and we would 100% visit here again.

Great value!

This is a great property for couples, with lots of privacy, good view and beach access, and restaurants within walking distance. Unfortunately for our stay, it was generally too windy to properly sitting outside or the swimming.

Stunning - can't wait to come back

This place is beautiful, such a good find! We will absolutely be staying again. The terrace gets the sun right up until about 5pm (June) and its lovely and private. The accommodation itself is SPOTLESSLY clean, one of the best I've ever stayed in. Communication with the host was fantastic including during a hiccup we had with our keys late at night. Such a great stay, cannot recommend enough!!

Even better than expected!

Perfect for 2 people. Obviously its all about the location, but add in spotless accommodation, a comfy bed and a decent shower, excellent communication with the owners/manager. It's everything you need.

Incredible! Like living in a postcard!

We are three friends travelling around Greece and spent a few days at the cottages. It was an amazing experience, perfect for our group. The host/staff were very friendly and provided more than what we needed. The location couldn't be better and was a highlight of our trip to Greece. Highly recommend visiting Spinalonga and reading The Island. Thank you again for everything. We hope to return someday with our families.

Magical

We spent a magical week at this cottage in Plaka. The view from the terrace is amazing, so secluded. The cottage has everything you need,and is just a short easy walk to the tavernas and small supermarkets in Plaka. There is an easy bus service to Elounda, for more shops and restaurants. The island of Spinalonga is well worth a visit. We found everyone in the village so friendly and helpful. We would definitely want to return again.

Location, location, location!

Wonderful cottage in an an amazing location. Christine was a great host and everything was perfectly arranged, including transfer from the airport. The village is peaceful, but with plenty of good restaurants (we liked Ostria, Paliria and The Carob Tree). Spinilonga is lovely to visit and there are plenty of other places of interest nearby like Knossos. Our favourite trips were a Land Rover safari into the mountains, and a brilliant horse riding session in the local countryside (with Fourni Horses). A really lovely place to visit - thank you.

Great location and water front view

Unique place in a really nice location not far from Elounda and Agios Nikolai’s. Spent a few days here and the view from the private deck was beautiful. It overlooks Spinalonga island and Plaka Beach…. Going down to the beach is as simple as walking down a few stairs. Restaurants, bars, and shops all within walking distance. Self Check in process was easy and also has a private parking space close by. The unit we stayed in was not very large but all two people really need. Very peaceful and quiet as well.

Beautiful and relaxing

The cottage was perfectly positioned and very well equipped, beach towels and hairdryer being very welcome additional facilities. The cottage was also cleaned and linens replaced twice in the week we were there, which reflects the attention to detail and thoughtfulness that have been put into making these a relaxing holiday location. Plaka is beautiful and charming, we ventured further afield a couple of times but everything we needed was within walking distance. We never tired of the stunning views from the terraces and cottage. We will definitely return.

Beautiful Property in a Stunning Location

We had an absolutely wonderful time in Olondi - the accommodation and outside areas were superb, really clean and well maintained by Jimmy and Lela. On arrival, there was a lovely welcome pack with essential items. The view from the sunbathing terrace was just so beautiful (even better than the photos) looking across to Spinalonga and the beach is literally on your doorstep. We could not fault any aspect of our stay and Christine, our host, was very attentive - arranging our flight transfers and checking in on us the day after arrival to check everything was ok. Thank you Christine, Jimmy and Lela for making our stay such an unforgettable one - we hope to return again in the future.

Beautiful location

Beautiful location, very restful. Confusion on arrival as didn't know what house we rented. Didn't know the name but was sorted out. We were put in the house for 10 days that we thought we rented then moved to the rear property as that was the house we rented. Although all lovely properties if you want to have a seaview from your cottage make sure you rent a front property not the rear property. The cottage manager was very helpful so was the cleaner. Overall lovely stay will return

Amazing week at Olondi Cottage

The cottage is exactly as described - the private terrace overlooking Spinalonga is perfect for spending the day relaxing and its only a 5 minute stroll from Plakas tavernas. The cottage is bigger than I expected, freshly redecorated and immaculate with all you need. Totally private with no intrusion from the other cottages and a good stone BBQ for the nights you want to relax. Must recommend Marias taverna just 2 minutes from the Cottage for slow cooked clay pot dishes! The best place to us in Plaka is the Green Tree - sit outside with a cold beer or wine and tapas comes with the drinks, watching the shoppers and boats come in. We were there every evening watching Plaka go by! A fabulous week and will definitely visit again.

Truly marvellous location, great private terrace.

Just on the edge of the village, our villa was close enough to Plaka so that we could easily get to restaurants and amenities, but far enough away to ensure quiet and privacy. The villa itself was immaculate, comfortable and very well equipped. Best of all was our huge, private terrace overlooking the sea - we'd made plans to investigate the area by car, but chilling on our terrace proved a much stronger draw. 'Management' was Christina, a lovely Welsh woman who gets the balance between attentive service and just leaving you to get on with it just right. Combined with our own private beach - midnight swims highly recommended - and we couldn't really have asked for more. Five stars, no question. Gavin and Clara

Fantastic - highly reccomendable

Everything have been excellent: The houses are actually on the beach (do not expect sand) - the view fantastic. Small, sleepy village, nice restaurants. The houses: High quality throughout - nice welcome (indeed pleasant to have basic food available the first night) - cleaning just perfect. And everyone friendly and welcoming. The three houses are built in such a way that you will get privacy and a great stay whichever of them you choose. Olondi had the largest terrace - with a nice breeze which was just perfect for hot August days. In addition to sun, sea and nice food, we have been to great closeby mountainwalks, used the services (e.g. water jet) from the water-sport center which is the closest neighbour. When we stayed, we had sun until approximately six in the afteernoon, which was fine.

Location, location, location.

We were blown away. What a perfect location overlooking Spinalonga and the bay with our own private terrace and two eating areas. The cottage, we loved it more everyday was spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need. Christine came by and checked everything was ok and was lovely as was Lela the housekeeper and husband Jimmi maintainance man. Nothing was to much trouble. Plaka is just the best place, small, good tavernas, couple of supermarkets and the people are very friendly. Close enough to Elounda and Agios Nikolaos if you fancy a change. Thank you for a wonderful two weeks. Plaka beach cottages are the business. Don't forget beach shoes and maybe a torch for late night walking home and the stones are there for a reason, it can get breezy!

Everything PERFECT

From the moment we booked this beautiful place and until we left, everything was just perfect. First we received am email with all the details we needed in order to find the place, the key for the studio, where the private parking is situated ... Thank you for the water, bread, cheese, tomato, cucumber and biscuits you offered for the first day, it was more than appreciated! After a tiring day of travelling by plane and then by car, it was a nice touch not to worry for the next morning breakfast 😊 We had a very nice conversation with Cristinne, who visited us just to see if we need something and if we are happy with our accomodation. Please aware that of the three bungallows, Olondi is the one in the back, the other two bring in front, just by the beach. The upside of renting this bungallow is that you will have the largest private sunbed terrace.

Great Time in Plaka!

We stayed in the Olondi villa for two weeks and loved it! The villas are even better than we expected. They are right on the water with beautiful views of the entire area.The host Christine is very friendly and truly helpful. The housekeeper does an incredible and thorough job keeping the villas spotless. The small village of Plaka is a very short walk and has many tavernas and gift shops. The Carob Tree was by far our favorite. Be sure to stop in and say hello to Malcolm for us! We took the boat trip from Elounda to Spinalonga and had a good walk around the island. Elounda is about 5Km away and is a larger village with LOTS of tavernas and fun little shops. Our favorite coffee shops were Captain Longa in Plaka and Fresco in Elounda. We had a car for the entire trip so we drove to Hania and stayed a couple nights to hike the Sumaria Gorge. Very impressive hike and beautiful scenery. Overall we had an awesome vacation and our time in the Olondi villa was the highlight of it all!

Plaka Beach, Olondi Cottage.

This was our first trip to Crete, We were not disappointed , the area around Plaka is lovely, there is a lot to see and do with or without a hire car, we hired a car from the airport and used it for six days of the ten , we drove up behind the cottage and followed the track upto the top of the hills where you will get spectacular views of the peninsula and the interia of the island there are a lot of caves around the cliff face to view. We had a trip to spinalonga very interesting . Olondi cottage was our home for the duration of our stay and it really did feel like home, there was everything we needed . Around the outside of Olondi there are lots of areas to sit and read or have your morning coffee or take oppertunety to bask in the sunshine, Fantastic just been transported back to the sun loungers, there are steps leading down to the beach where you can swim for hours, i recommend taking you goggles and snorkel as you can see all kind of fish, crabs, octopuss and huge sea snails the size of a melon. The Tavernas in Plaka are very good expensive at the harbour end though, we found a taverna that was perfect for us excellent food at a good price, the owner was called Nikos it was half way down on the sea front fourth place walking from the car park, the staff were excellent we had a lot of laughs with them and miss them . Our Contact when we arrived was a lovely lady called Christine, she was there when we needed her very knowledgeable having lived on Crete for a good time, it was also a pleasure to meet Christine, and all the cleaning staff for the cottage always clean sheets and towels a real pleasure of a holiday, we will be back, efharisto to all we met.
