Han was an attentive host. The boat is an amazing experience. The views are gorgeous. The boat is not huge but spacious for 2. Getting to and from it was an adventure for this slightly larger American. I had an amazing and unique stay!

Notre hôte a été très agraeble et sympatique mais aussi pedagogue sur le fonctionnement du bateau. Il a egalement été très réactif quand nous avons eu une coupure Wifi. L'emplacement est parfait et malgré la position centrale très très calme. Le bateau est confortableet bien aménagé. Nous sommes très content de notre séjour

Wir waren jetzt schon zum zweiten Mal auf diesem wundervollen Boot und haben den Aufenthalt wieder sehr genossen! Alle Attraktionen sind fußläufig zu erreichen, das Boot ist trotzdem herrlich ruhig gelegen. Die Kommunikation mit Han funktioniert ausgezeichnet, es ist vor Ort für alles gesorgt. Wir kommen gerne auch ein drittes Mal.

Wow! What an amazing experience staying on a house boat in Amsterdam! The boat is beautiful inside and Han was an extremely good host. I highly recommend this opportunity. The boat is truly just a short walk from the Central Train Station so you’re in the heart of the city. This experience made Amsterdam so much more enjoyable and memorable. Ferry (Han's friend/helper) was so kind and welcoming. He helped us carry our bags into the boat and oriented us to living on the boat. He even put some drinks in the fridge to welcome us. He was very responsive to questions. The boat was beautiful. You can see a lot of love went into the craftsmanship. The beds were very comfortable - great mattress toppers meant we slept really well! There was much more room than we expected on a boat - and 2 bathrooms! (One must climb up and down a ladder to get to the kitchen / main bedroom, so if you're not good with ladders, this may not be the place for you. For us, it was part of the adventure.) Loved looking out the window at the canal. Drinking coffee on the deck in the morning was also lovely. Can't say enough nice things about Ferry and Han.

Overall this was a wonderful stay. The houseboat was tidy and offered enough space for our family of four. Hans had great communication and his friend Ferry assisted greatly with our arrival. The location is super close to the train station and had lovely views of Amsterdam.Few things- this is a houseboat. If you are expecting a 5 star hotel then you should get one of those. The bathrooms are small and while there is plenty of living space, there are ladders to climb down and one of the bedrooms is in a port cubby. It's exactly what you would expect staying on one. We are large folks and while it did make some if the experience a little tricky, we understood that was part of the charm. Check in was easy, wifi access was easy and it was very walkable to some of the cool things amsterdam has to offer. We only took two cars- to the Van Gough Museam and the airport. The rest of the stay was VERY walkable, with a grocery store close by as well.

We loved our stay at Hans canal boathouse. Fantastic location and friendly helpful and generous host. The boat is really unique, very clean, well equipped and comfortable with a gorgeous view and lots to look at, boats going by. Great outdoor area. Han had complimentary beer, wine, juice and milk for us in the fridge and specially delivered some stroppewaffels. We highly recommend Hans boathouse and we would book it again. Thank you so much Han.

The Perfect Place To Stay

We love staying here whenever we're in Amsterdam! Everything about this boat is perfect! Nothing beats sleeping on the water and waking up to the view every morning. Book it, you won't regret it :)

We enjoyed our stay on the Bamboo Boat. Han was a gracious host and responded to our queries in a timely manner. The Boat was clean and in a great location for access to Central Station and all the districts. Great for exploring. The bonus for us were the bikes. The views from the sun deck and living space were fabulous. Wonderful for kicking back after busy days seeing the sights. The Boat was quiet and peaceful especially at night. The bed comfortable. We had no trouble sleeping! As for cooking on board, we had no plans but for those who do be aware there is no cook top or oven, only a microwave, toaster, kettle and single hot plate - (City ordinance prohibits flammable fuels on board.) All in all a great spot.

Fantastic location!

The houseboat was conveniently located with great access to all public transport. Han was helpful and very knowledgeable, and we had a great time on the houseboat! The stairs and ladder would be tough for very small children or anyone with mobility issues - my 4 and 6 year olds were delighted and had a wonderful time.

This house boat served us very well. We weren’t sure what to expect but Han was informative and helpful. The location was perfect, on the water, close to the train station and we walked all over Amsterdam. We would return if the occasion arose.

Das Hausboot von HAN liegt superzentral und zu Fuß ist man in 5 Minuten mitten im Leben von Amsterdam! Trotzdem hat mal absolute Ruhe auf dem Boot. Ob mit Zug oder PKW liegt das Boot super erreichbar. Seinen PKW kann man im Parkhaus Osterdock einmieten… meine Mädls und ich waren total begeistert und Amsterdam ist ne Reise wert.

Not a Good Fit for us

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed by the houseboat and I don't feel like the listing accurately describes the space especially the steps required to navigate to both bedroom spaces. Han was wonderful to meet us and help us get on the boat, but immediately told us that if you are claustrophobic, then one bedroom isn't for you. That was the bedroom we had planned to have our teen use, but she does get very anxious in tight spaces. The other room is only accessible down a steep ladder which I don't think is accurately described in the listing. I only saw 4 steps to the boat mentioned. In addition, the listing does not make clear that Han also lives on the boat attached to your dpace and that the door cannot be locked. Ultimately, we were not able to physically stay on the boat and had to find other accommodations in Amsterdam last minute. With an updated clear listing, this boat may be a great choice, but it was not for our family.
