Stranraer is a vibrant and bustling harbour town known as ’the gateway to the Rhinns of Galloway’. Take a stroll along the seafront and spend a few hours in Agnew Park which has a wide range of leisure facilities for all ages, including a boating lake, a play park for the younger kids, and an 18-hole putting green, or just enjoy a morning coffee in the café making the most of the views over Lochryan Bay. The town also offers a wide range of shops, pubs, and restaurants where you can dine out. This beautiful area of southwest Scotland is a delightful area and boasts rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches, which benefit from the warmth of the passing Gulf Stream, and is surrounded by breathtaking scenery. There are many beautiful gardens to explore, including the world-renowned Logan Botanical Gardens. Take a drive out to some of the many pretty little ports such as Sandhead and Portpatrick, or the RSPB Scotland Mull of Galloway Nature Reserve, Scotland’s most southerly point, where thousands of sea birds nest in the cliff face during the spring and summer. Walking is a delight, whether clifftop, beaches, hills, or forests, and the Southern Upland Way passes close by. Perfect for cycling enthusiasts, the world-famous 7Stanes are within easy reach.
