Region: Explore the fossils and stunning beaches of Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, visit historic Sherborne and Shaftesbury, or enjoy the footpaths, country lanes and thatched-roof pubs Dorset offers.
Town: On the Jurassic coast, Ringstead Bay is an undeveloped pebble beach encircled by stunning cliffs and fields. There is currently a tiny, thriving hamlet nestled at the back of the bay in a variety of unusual homes instead of the original village referenced in the apocalypse book. This is a beautiful spot to be outside whether you like to wander around the wooded paths or take a stroll along the South West Coast route. When you're ready to travel farther, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are only 11 miles away, and Weymouth, with its lovely coastline and a wide variety of eateries, is 7 miles to the west. If you can drag yourself away from the undeveloped beach, the Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World Rescue, and Tyneham Village all offer intriguing and varied day trips close to Ringstead.
