Rural location with lovely countryside views

The Granary sleeps 8 (max 7 adults) very well equipped and kept up to date. We are located 2 minutes drive from the village of Burythorpe. There is so much to see and do. York is just 30 minutes away, and Malton 10 minutes away, while the cliffs and beaches of the Yorkshire Coast are easily reached in 45 minutes. A favourite day out is to visit Castle Howard, with its magnificent house and gardens. The Yorkshire Wolds, now becoming famous through the paintings of David Hockney, are a delight, and are right on our doorstep! This is fantastic walking country, and a footpath runs right by the property, taking you to nearby Birdsall. Other paths lead into the Wolds for spectacular views. Equally, cycling here is a delight, with quiet lanes and routes to suit every level. In the fields around the property, you will hear skylarks sing, and see buzzards soar. Deer are frequently sighted. This is a truly unspoiled corner, and it is no surprise that many of our visitors return year after year to escape and unwind.

The property has its own garden area and also their is a large lawned area for ball games including croquet and for tennis fans, we have a full size grass tennis court available May - September.
Ample car parking is available for residents.
Electricity, Oil and logs are all included. EV Charging on-site (charges apply)
To keep the property to the high standard of cleanliness it is strictly non-smoking and we do not allow pets.
Bookings are from 4 pm on the Saturday of arrival until 10 am on the day of departure.

Great house & location

The Granary was perfect for our family meet up. Lovely, homely property with everything we needed. The games room was great for keeping the teenagers entertained and we enjoyed playing rounders in the garden. The location was ideal for exploring the local area including York and Flamingo Lnd.

Awesome getaway

Met up with family from the Netherlands , as we came over from New Zealand. Best choice and had an awesome 9 days together. Super location and a lovely cottage.The host Sarah is lovely as well.

Great property in an peaceful location

The property was beautifully presented. Well Equipped throughout with the most amazing views. It is well located for York and surrounding areas. Malton which is nearby is a great little town with everything you need. Castle Howard situated a 20 minute drive was a great destination for a day out. Hope to return later in the year!

Peaceful countryside stay

The property is a lovely old converted granary, once part of a farm. The owner lives in the house and there is another smaller rental property. It is set in beautiful Wolds countryside and is easily accessible to the coast and North York Moors. There are a lot of lovely places to visit and see in the area. The property is comfortable and welcoming. There is a large upstairs lounge and kitchen which is well equipped although there was a problem with the oven which was fixed. Some of the kitchen equipment could benefit from updating but provided all that was needed. The property was clean and well maintained although the dishwasher was dirty on arrival. Although we did not use it the upstairs games room was large and well equipped. There were lovely views across the countryside and it was delightful to sit in the garden for breakfast and dinner and the chairs has nice cushions which was much appreciated. Our host was very helpful and friendly and gave a good welcome. We really enjoyed our stay.

Idyllic adult family getaway in rural Yorkshire.

Loved this fabulous property. Great rural location with stunning views. The sunsets were amazing. Charming and very comfortable with plenty of space inside and out. Lots to do - tennis, croquet, ball games, BBQ outside, and table-tennis, pool inside. Loved the outside dining area and gardens too. Great location to explore Ryedale market towns and the Yorkshire coast. Highly recommend.

Countryside escape

Lovely lovely property! Very roomy with every kitchen accessory you could want. Absolutely beautiful garden with loads of space for children to run around. We will be returning.

Beautiful location, excellent property and an ideal escape from urban mayhem!

"The Granary" is stunning, a really special place to stay! Immaculately presented and with many period features , the "Granary" is superb! The added bonus of views across the farmland and up towards the wooded hills are breath taking and really connect you with nature. To see a Hare in the field right outside your window and the joy of listening to birdsong in the morning makes you realise how special this place is. The peace and quiet throughout the day and in to the late evening makes for very calming , restful and happy times. The games room with a pool table and play station ticked all the right boxes too! Don't forget the stunning sunsets! Wow, so beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and cannot fault the property or the owners-they have done a stunning job creating an ambience and feeling of being at "home". The property is very well appointed and we found everything we needed. Ideally situated, with Morton only a short drive away and easy access to York, you couldn't ask for more. Highly recommended and we can't wait to come back!

Much needed home from home relaxing stay

The Granary had a rustic charm about it. A lovely welcome pack was left for us with a full basket of logs left for us to use on the log burner. Excellent covid 19 precautions put in place, plenty of hand gel, hand soap to use. Clean fresh bedding and towels. The house is roomy yet cosy. The country side is beautiful, local pubs very good. Lots of places to visit within an hour or less. A great place to stay.

Lovely hues helpful owner

After a 5 hour drive we were not disappointed when we arrived at the Granary. It’s very spacious and Sarah keeps it well equipped. The games room was a lovely addition along with the log burner. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend. Thank you.

Beautiful barn in Yorkshire

We have stayed at the Granary twice and couldn’t recommend it more. Really well equipped & absolutely spotless. My children adored the games room and so much fun was had playing pool and table tennis. Lovely grounds and a peaceful location.

Excellent holiday house

House is in a beautiful rural location and is very well stocked with games, books and toys. There is plenty to do. Sarah was very friendly and the property was very clean and tidy. We had a great week there!

The Granary

The Granary had everything and more for our family holiday. Lovely welcome pack on arrival. Games room was spacious with plenty of games and jigsaw to do. We loved playing table tennis and pool. Bedrooms were a good size. We liked the open plan living room and kitchen. Private garden with views of the surrounding countryside. Easy access to York and surrounding areas. A perfect location if you're looking to get away from it all.

Lovely location

A good sized property with plenty of books, games and puzzles for quiet nights in and an attractive garden. The property was clean but dusty with cobwebs in corners.

Fabulous holiday home with EVERYTHING you could possibly need. Super comfy beds and sofas, fantastic games room. Dishwasher and even washing machine and tumble dryer! Excellent location, with a brilliant local pub 15 minutes walk away.

Im Obergeschoß liegen eine sehr gut ausgestattete Wohnküche die in ein gemütliches Wohnzimmer mit Kaminofen übergeht. Es schließt sich ein weiterer großer Raum an, mit Billardtisch, Fernseher und Waschmaschine und Trockner. Ein schöner Garten mit Sitzgelegenheiten und Tisch ist ebenfalls vorhanden. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und den Aufenthalt in dem perfekt ausgestatteten Haus genossen.

clean, beautiful location, very well equipped, friendly and highly accomodating owners

The house was stunning, the photos were great but they didn't do justice to just how lovely the property is. We had many family members come and stay with us over the time we rented out the property and every one of them absolutely loved it. We made lost of awesome memories together and will look back fondly at this experience. The information provided by the property owners helped immensely. We were able to locate the property without any problems, and the suggestion to have food delivered was a great one and helped us settle in after our long journey from Australia. We definitely plan on coming back and would like to thank the owners for their help over the time we were there. We loved it.

Wonderful family friendly holiday cottage in idilic location

We had a wonderful short break at The Granary with our four children. The location and setting is absolutely perfect, with beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The cottage is large and very well equipped for families. We brought two bags of toys with us, but they stayed in the car as there is so much there for children. The gardens and grounds are very well kept and provide a spacious and safe environment for children. We have stayed in many holiday cottages over the year and this is definitely one of the best. A1 for cleanliness and comfort too! Highly recommended.

Beautiful location, splendid house

We had an amazing week at The Granary. The countryside setting was stunning, as were the gardens and of course the lawn tennis court, which was greatly enjoyed by all the family. The house was so spacious and comfortable it could not be faulted. A great find! Well done Sarah!
