The community, which is located just across the River Dee from the Wirral and the English/Welsh border, is well-known for its well-known beach. The 1776 Point of Ayr Lighthouse is Talacre's most prominent landmark. A Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) with an RSPB reserve, the area around the beach, Gronant Dunes, and Talacre Warren is home to uncommon species such the natterjack toad, while the neighbouring Dee Estuary is a haven for wintering birds.
