The apartment was spacious and the location was wonderful. Rui is a very good host. He does the cleaning himself to make sure everything is done correctly. He suggested itineraries and helped orient us during our first stay in Lisbon. He ordered us a taxi at checkout and even helped carry the luggage. His English is excellent, too.

PositivesThe property is located in a great location and it’s quiet at night for sleeping. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and you can use the famous Tram 28 to downtown/main square or up the hill to Pingo Doce to buy groceries. The host is very accommodating and very helpful. The kitchen is well equipped. Washer included with a new laundry mat right across the street to dry clothing,( coffee shop ) Negatives-if you have any environmental sensitivity this is not the place for you. My partner’s asthma was triggered by the mold problem immediately when entering the unit. Upon entering the unit there was a strong smell of mold and it appears that both bathrooms have a problem with water infiltrating under the laminate flooring( from showers) as the laminate is popping up.This seems to be the source and cause of the mold and mildew in the grout of the tiles. Especially, in basement.( shower is incredibly small) We noticed mold growing upstairs all along the blue painted wall near the window all the way behind the TV. You’ll need to keep clothing in your suitcase as the smell will definitely migrate to your clothing.( we stayed for 4 days. Two small bedrooms in the basement with limited space for suitcases. Owner is aware of problem with air quality and says he will address the issue. We didn’t use the AC unit ( which would help with humidity) as it’s in November. Had to open 3 windows constantly to help offset smell.

Wonderful stay in this beautiful apartment. Close to everything. Rue is an excellent host. Picked us up at the train station and took us to the apartment and gave us info and tips about Lisbon. He drove us to the airport on our departing day. This was a “Gem” accomodation.

Great Host

Our gracious host gave us transportation to and from the apartment. The apartment was well stocked with everything needed. The place was very quiet to sleep in. There was a good mini mart and pizzeria next to the building. There also was an excellent cable TV with English movies.Walking in the area was challenging due to sloping sidewalks.

Great Lisbon Experience!

We absolutely loved our stay in Lisbon. Rui was a wonderful host, picked us up from the airport and returned us to the car rental place for us to continue our Portugal adventure. Flat was close to services, clean and quaint, a fabulous place to stay.

Perfect Portugal stay

Very conveniently located. More quiet neighborhood with access to a small market to get any basics just around the corner a few meters, along with a great restaurant if you don’t feel like venturing out far for a night. Short walk to the flea market (Saturdays & Tuesdays). Also close for a great pick up point to get an Uber, taxi or tuk tuk at the monestary. tuk.

Super Host!

Rui met us at the train station and took us directly to the apartment. Thank goodness too because the hills and cobbles would have been hard with luggage. Rui also gave us lots of good advice on things to do and how to get there. It is tucked away from too much hustle and bustle but close to transport. The restaurant downstairs was quite good! We were disappointed that upon entering, the apartment smelled musty/moldy but we are hoping that it clears up with airing out. We opened window and ran the AC to help and it did a bit. Good thing to know is the apartment is up some stairs, the living room, kitchen and one bathroom is upstairs and the bedrooms and another bathroom is downstairs.

Great stay

Rui was very thorough and organized in helping us check in and out. The property was extremely clean and Rui managed to make sure we were comfortable. He offered a free ride to the bus stop at the end of our stay and provided all details we needed to know for our few days in Lisbon. He provided us with extra things when asked for them and gave us a map of Lisbon and things to see and do in the city. The only downfall was the smell of the sewer system in the bathrooms. Otherwise, we thorough enjoyed our stay and would recommend Rui to our friends and family.

The best stay

This VRBO was an excellent choice. Rui is an amazing host and the apartment is in the best location in a beautiful, authentic, wonderful neighborhood. We arrived early and Rui was kind enough to give us access early to put our things down while the apartment was being cleaned. He was also kind enough to transport us to and from the airport, (and our return flight had him picking us up ant 4 am!) and he even helped us with our bags.

Une arrivée chaleureuse à Lisbonne

Rui a été un hôte exceptionnel pour ma mère et mes tantes qui ont séjourné 3 nuits à cet emplacement. Elles ont beaucoup apprécié qu’il vienne les chercher à l’aéroport, qu’il leur explique les endroits à visiter avec un plan à visiter. Comme il parle français, les instructions étaient claires. Rui a vraiment fait en sorte que leur séjour était parfait. Nous recommandons sans hésiter!!

Rui is a fantastic host

Our stay was great. Rui is forthcoming, helpful and always available to answer questions. The apartment is in a perfect location for exploring by foot or by tram. Restaurants and shops are right around the corner. I highly recommend Rui and this apartment.

Great location

We stayed at Rui’s apartment for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute. He was so helpful with travel tips and how to make the most of our time. Rui even picked us up at the airport ! The location is accessible to public transportation making it very easy to get around if you get tired from walking. We enjoyed the food at a little restaurant called Carvoeiro so much that we ate there two of the nights. It’s only a two minute walk from the apartment but there are also many other options in the area. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Lisbon.

Brilliant short stay

Well located property close to the historic Alfama sights but quiet and comfortable at night. Plenty of local restaurants and a handy small shop. Rui was a great host and extremely helpful even picking us up from the airport on arrival and dropping us at a railway station on departure. Also provided us with maps and general tourist advice. Very enjoyable place to stay

A real gem!

We've practised a number of hosts but Rui tops them all from beginning to end. We had a number of small issues (not with him) and he went out of his way to help us solve them. I would just make one remark that has nothing to do with him but if you have problems walking up and own streets, Lisbon might not be the ideal city to visit, unless you order cabs or tuctucs the whole time.

Great location

Rui was a great host he picked us up from the airport and point out local place to see on the way to the apartment. The central location was perfect for all the things we wanted to see.
