A third romantic keep can be seen at nearby Ewloe, hidden amongst the trees in the attractive estate of St David’s Park, and is well worth as visit. During the 19th century Hawarden was a thriving market town and many traces of its history can still be seen in the architecture along the main street, which today offers a selection of amenities including cafes and pubs. Hawarden Airport is in nearby Broughton, home of Airbus, where you can sometimes see the mighty Beluga aircraft taking off across the Cheshire Plain.
