A charming property which was well equipped and very private. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were fantastic. Beautiful views and within easy reach of Santiago de Compostela.The hosts were very welcoming and even gave us an almond tart on arrival which was absolutely delicious! We would love to visit again.

If you go to Santiago you must stay here

This is one place in Spain you must stay. The property was fantastic and we could not have been more relaxed. Maria the host was wonderful. She provided fresh fruit, eggs and bacon as well as a great breakfast pastry. The pool and hot tub were an extra bonus. Do not miss the opportunity to stay here and tour Galacia.

Week stay in Santiago De Compostela

Secluded gem in the hills of Santiago De Compostela. Short drive into city. Beautiful view of the city landscape. Quiet and peaceful. Enjoyed using both the pool and the jacuzzi. Hosts were great!

Lovely stone house

Nice stone house really nice people on check in made us feel really welcome. Provided some food essentials and even made a wonderful apple pie for us & loads of fruit from the garden. Overall a lovely place to relax.

Perfect stay

A beautiful property located on the outskirts of Santiago in a peaceful and pretty location. A perfect host who welcomed us and looked after us throughout our stay with homemade and homegrown treats.

Quiet place in Galacia

Maria is a great host. Her son was available to translate, as needed. We loved the delicious pastry that she made for us and sitting by the pool was very relaxing. If you like to be away from the crowds, this is the perfect place!

Un lugar maravilloso donde disfrutar de unos días de tranquilidad. La casa contiene de todo lo que pueda hacer falta,menaje, toallas ... María José la dueñ un recibimiento muy bueno, con detalles como una tarta de manzana. Un placer haber estado allí.

A truly delightful experience

This is the most comfortable and charming property, and Maria is the loveliest host you will ever come across. We were given a lovely welcome gift of gorgeous goodies, and everything you need for an excellent stay is provided. The property is very convenient for Santiago de Compostela, a bus stop.is 5min walk from the property, runs every hour, and takes just 10mins for 1euro. When you've had enough of the city, come back to the peace and tranquility of beautiful countryside and the comfort of Maria's lovely home. I highly recommend this place and would love to return

Wonderful retreat

We enjoyed every bit of our visit here. Maria Jose and her family were so helpful from greeting us warmly with food and drink, to sharing the produce of their garden and providing bus information into the city. The little stone house was perfect - everything you could need for a short or extended stay. The property has access to walking trails and is a good, steep walk down to the city bus. Taxis were easy into the city. Like others who reviewed, we did not speak much Spanish but between google translate and Maria's son we were able to navigate. The pool was a perfect way to spend a day of walking.- great view of the countryside. We would love to go back - or to try the larger house on the property.

Top quality property

My wife and I have just had a lovely week in the Little Stone House. We are not normally given to writing reviews but as this property was superb in every way we must recommend it to anyone considering a stay in this area. It is well and thoughtfully equipped, and the outside space is a joy. It is very quiet but only a short distance from Santiago. The owners were most helpful and hospitable. We cannot fault this property Thank you David and Margaret

Picture perfect home to stay

Wow this villa was way beyond expectations. Firstly the stone villa was so beautiful, immaculately clean and well appointed with everything you need. I could of stayed there the whole time without going to town. Maria the owner is so welcoming and helpful. The food and pastries were unexpected and were delicious as was the wine and beer. Wunderschönes Ferienhaus

Nach der Begrüßung mit einer galizischen Kuchenspezialität haben wir in den folgenden 14 Tagen einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt genossen. Die Umgebung ist sehr ruhig und bei sonnigem Wetter kann man sich am und im Pool entspannen. Das Ferienhaus hat eine kleine sehr gut ausgestattete Küche. Wir haben diese aber aufgrund der vielfältigen kulinarischen Verlockungen Galiziens nur selten zum Essen zubereiten genutzt. Vielleicht beim nächsten Mal :-). Sogar ein Grill stand zur Verfügung. Und wenn es tatsächlich mal regnet, dann kann man es sich in der Couchecke gemütlich machen. Mit Ausnahme von Santiago, das man sehr schnell erreicht, sind viele touristische Sehenswürdigkeiten mindestens 1 Autostunde entfernt. Sehr empfehlenswert ist z.B. ein Trip mit den Kayak - gibt es geführt in Gruppe oder einfach selber eins mieten.

Fantastisch!

Supervakantiewoning! Mooi zwembad met heel comfortabele meubels, goed geequipeerde keuken, goed bed, tuin met sinaasappelbomen ( om vers fruitsap te maken 's morgens, moestuin om zich vrij in te bedienen, .. Vriendelijke eigenaars die heel attent en vrijgevig zijn .. Warm anbevolen!

Poco mas que añadir a los comentarios anteriores, la dueña es encantadora y muy atenta, nos recibio con una tarta de Manzana, la casa ideal para una pareja o 3 personas, y todo lo que la rodea esta en plena naturaleza. Desde aqui hay multitud de posibilidades tanto de playa como de montaña, recomiendo las Fervenzas de la zona este de Santiago, a unos 40 minutos, fervenza das Hortas y fervenza del rio Toxa. Casa recomendable 100%.

Simply Delightful...

I can’t say enough good things about our experience at this wonderful house and the people who run it. First, the grounds: huge and manicured, with plenty of space for lounging, cooking, eating outdoors. There is even a private pool! I could hardly believe it! And a canopy over an outdoor table under an orange tree is the perfect place for a drink at sunset. The house itself is very comfortable and perfectly good for two people. The kitchen has good equipment, so you can cook for real. The bedroom is spacious and the bed comfortable. The bathroom has a tiny shower, which might be a little difficult for bigger people to use, but there was plenty of hot water. The owner, Maria Josés, and her sons could not have been more helpful and hospitable. Nearly every day Maria brought us a special homemade Galician specialty. The family are absolute gems and contributed so much to our stay. We couldn’t believe our luck at finding this wonderful place, just a short drive or pleasant walk outside of Santiago – it was a terrific base for exploring Galicia, and we highly recommend it.

zeer goed!

Wij hebben een topweek gehad in een fijn huisje, met een mooie tuin en een heerlijk zwembad (verwarmd). Maria stond altijd voor ons klaar indien nodig. Wel handig als je een beetje Spaans spreekt, Maria spreekt geen Engels, haar zoon wel. NB groenten en fruit uit eigen moestuin!

Idyllic retreat

Casa de Afora is a rustic stone house which has been carefully and lovingly restored by its owners with all modern amenities. It is situated in a small village just 3 km outside Santiago and it literally takes only a few minutes to drive to the old town in Santiago and its famous Cathedral. It has a private garden and a swimming pool heated with solar panels and we could swim on sunny days even in early October. In addition to being a perfect place to stay when visiting Santiago, the owner Señora Maria is exceptionally hospitable and generous. Virtually every day she came over with Galician food specialties for us to try. We stayed much longer than originally planned and used Casa de Afora as a base for excursions to other interesting places in Galicia, e.g. Capo Finisterre, A Coruna, Lugo, Isla La la Toja. Casa de Afora was perfect for us and we would recommend it to anyone who enjoys rural beauty and who wants to visit Santiago and explore Galicia. Bjorn Mississauga, Canada
