In January 2017, we decided to do a complete remodel and renovation to this property (for our "old age"). Since we were both retired, we tore out the walls and floors down to the 2x4s and added 400 sq ft for the bathrooms and laundry. We noticed that there wasn't any sheetrock in the old house so we saved as much of the original wood as we could and reused it when we put the walls back up. We wanted the original feel of the house so we found lots and lots of 'seconds' tongue and groove and used that to rebuild. The cracks and knotholes make it feel original. Annie was adamant that we needed to be able to see the lake upon entering the door for that "WOW" factor, so we moved some walls and made it happen. Every time we walk in, we say "WOW, look at the lake". Mission accomplished. We are so excited that all electric, gas, plumbing, septic, tank-less hot water, HVAC, insulation, roof, siding, decking and pier are all new. We didn't want to have any maintenance issues. Since we were building this for our 'old age' we attempted to incorporate American Disabilities Act (ADA) standards to the entire house. Entryways, walkways, doorways, handles, light switch and outlet positions. We also incorporated LED lights inside and out for better lighting. From the back door to the end of the deck at the waterfront is wheelchair accessible. We didn't want any restrictions to enjoy the view. As it turns out, we aren't ready for our "old age" home so we would like for you to Relax, Rest and Enjoy!
