Indulge in the allure of our enchanting loft in a romantic barn, nestled on a picturesque old cider farm surrounded by an orchard.Book your romantic retreat now and create cherished memories in this idyllic setting!
The space
Nestled within a couple of acres, this idyllic retreat features a mature orchard leading gracefully down to a tranquil stream, providing a genuine taste of rural life. Situated just two miles away, the sought-after village of Wedmore offers a full array of amenities.
Perfectly positioned for exploring a variety of destinations suitable for all ages and preferences, this residence is conveniently located between the Somerset Levels and the Mendip Hills. Only two miles from the charming village of Wedmore, you'll discover an array of restaurants and a delightful delicatessen. A short drive takes you to the vibrant city of Bristol, boasting extensive shopping facilities, theaters, cinemas, bars, and restaurants. Explore the rich cultural offerings of the historic city of Bath, featuring museums and theaters. The proximity to Wells, known for its famous cathedral and shopping district, as well as Burnham-on-Sea with its golden sandy beaches and seaside shops and restaurants, makes this an ideal location. To the north, discover the renowned Cheddar Gorge.
Ascending to the first floor via external wooden steps, guests are welcomed by a charming apartment with a small balcony offering views of the courtyard, orchard, and beyond. The converted stone apartment reveals a bright and tasteful studio-style layout with a well-appointed kitchen/diner and a separate bedroom/lounge area. Natural light floods both spaces through large windows, providing scenic countryside views. The bedroom comfortably accommodates a kingsize bed, leading to a cozy lounge area where you can unwind with a favorite book by the wood-burner or enjoy Smart TV entertainment. The adjacent kitchen/diner is fully equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment, and dishwasher. A separate utility room with a washing machine is perfect for storing muddy boots and hanging coats. The space also features a convenient shower room with a shower and WC.
For outdoor relaxation, a secluded private spot by the stream awaits, complete with a fire pit and picnic table for guest use. On-site, indulge in our own cider available for purchase, and explore our tiny farm shop offering fresh eggs, local jams, pickles, and beer.
Guest access
Venturing outside from the main door in the kitchen/diner you will find yourself on the small balcony with outside seating and views over the courtyard, orchard and surrounding countryside and further shared lawn areas with seating. It is a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evenings. There is always a secluded spot to enjoy some alfresco dining being set in a couple of acres with a mature orchard leading down to a stream, which you are very welcome to use and explore. There is also off-road parking for 1 car approximately 50 yards from the property along a level path.
Other things to note
Wedmore may be less famous than its neighbours Wells and Cheddar, but this historic settlement, once referred to as the ‘Isle of Wedmore’ due to its elevated position above the flood-prone Levels and nestled between the River Axe and River Brue, has a rich past and today is a bustling, characterful village.
For such a little village, it really packs a punch, like the annual ‘Turnip Prize’, a spoof of the famous Turner Prize, which celebrates hilariously bad artwork. Wedmore is also home to art festivals and opera productions, drawing people in far and wide.
There’s also an annual Real Ale Festival in September where you can sample 60 of the best ales, ciders and perrys that can be found in Somerset. And if cider is your thing, head to nearby Wilkins Cider Farm, a family-run establishment and a proper taste of Somerset offering local cheeses and more alongside
