House Azul - Quiet, Exclusive, Beach 50 m away, Wi-Fi
A renovated, eco-friendly, warm, and cozy home, offering every comfort despite being located in a desert and nature reserve. Every detail has been tended to with immense love—it’s a gift from my husband. Perfect for honeymoons and for those who love nature, silence, meditation, and walks. Sheltered from the wind, with a beach featuring crystal-clear water just 50 m away, spectacular starry skies, breathtaking views, unforgettable romantic evenings, and a special, captivating energy. On the island: no car rentals, only taxis or bikes.
The house, with interiors designed by Italian bioarchitect Stefano Weil, was completely renovated in April 2017. We used only the highest-quality eco-friendly materials for the walls, floors, and renovation; the two bathrooms, two kitchens, and the office are furnished with hand-made and hand-painted zellige tiles and custom-built oak furniture crafted by the island’s elderly carpenter, Juan.
The house is located 50 meters from the beach, which, except during the summer, is nearly deserted. It is truly a luxury to stay in Pedro Barba, as there are only 21 homes in total—uninhabited for most of the year and jealously guarded by their owners. Pedro Barba is considered the most exclusive place in the Canary Islands, an oasis of peace in the middle of the desert, a miniature paradise on earth. The climate is mild year-round, unlike the island’s other settlement, Caleta de Sebo—a tourist area where the local population also lives, and where temperatures can reach 40°C in the summer. In Pedro Barba, on the other hand, it is never too hot; the climate is dry, and temperatures are ideal: a low of 20°C and a high of 28°C, with cool, breezy nights, much like the African desert. The house offers ideal climate conditions year-round, with no need for air conditioning or heating, as the average indoor temperature is 21°C in winter and 23–25°C in summer.
There are 3 bedrooms, the master of which is a double (160x200 cm bed, built into the wall), with a built-in closet and desk, typical of Pedro Barba’s designs; the second bedroom has a custom-built, fold-down French-style double bunk bed (140x200 cm) made of wood, plus a desk and dressers—also in oak—which also serve as an office, with an adjacent small bathroom. The third room has two single beds (80x200 cm each) built into the wall, a desk, and a closet—all built into the wall—but is accessible only when booking for at least 4 guests; otherwise, it remains closed. In total, there are two bathrooms: the master bathroom, equipped with a hydromassage shower stall and a toilet with a built-in self-sanitizing bidet (Multiclean system, by Roca); the other, smaller one, with a built-in shower, which can be accessed both from inside the house and from the outdoor terrace (very convenient when returning from the beach).
There are two very practical kitchens: the first has a dishwasher and a Lieber refrigerator; it’s highly functional, spacious, and modern; the second kitchen is outdoors, located on the large covered terrace where we’ve installed a wood-fired barbecue, a huge gas griddle, and a built-in table that seats 10 people. From the terrace, you can admire the sea, the palm trees swaying in the breeze, Pedro Barba’s white and blue “Smurf houses,” the mountains, seagulls, and hawks. You may even spot, especially at dawn, the African fish eagle and the woodpecker. There is also a 40-inch satellite TV, internet, and an outdoor washing machine.
Ideal for honeymooning couples, lovers, or friends seeking a unique, intimate, and special vacation in total privacy, as well as musicians, composers, and artists in general; for those who love tranquility, wild and unspoiled nature, or need to rediscover themselves through contemplation, meditation, and walks in open spaces, in touch with the power of the elements. For lovers of light and the night, the starry skies of Pedro Barba are one-of-a-kind; romantic candlelit dinners al fresco are perfect, and the morning light has a unique intensity.
Having just finished renovating a second home in Pedro Barba—where we’ve since moved—we’ve decided to rent out our first home to a select few tourists who can truly appreciate it. We hope to host peaceful, respectful, and kind guests who will treat the home with care and attention throughout their stay, as if it were their own. Tommy and I love everything about this house, and we’re confident our guests will have an unforgettable vacation.
