POSITION:
Galatone is a town in Salento that is 7km, or about a five minute drive away from the Ionian coast. It is easy to reach Santa Maria al Bagno and Gallipoli from here. Like much of the area, Galatone has Greek origins with Byzantine rituals and celebrations being practiced up until the 14th century. There are several important monuments and landmarks to visit here, including churches, chapels, castles, and even the ruins of an old bakery.
