STUNNING LOG HOUSE & A COOK'S PARADISE!

Nestled in the trees near the top of Skislope, a level driveway takes you to our stunning log home situated on two acres, giving it a parklike setting with privacy and elegance. Designed to evoke the feel of your own private lodge, exquisite attention was given to craftsmanship, finishes and décor. Each log was lovingly hand picked in Montana. A large bank of windows brings the outdoors in no matter the season. The spacious great room with its stone fireplace is the perfect spot to track winter snowdrifts and watch deer and birds.

Two professional bakers designed the kitchen. With prep and kitchen sinks and a large Wolf range with grill, it is easy to prepare an intimate dinner for two or a family Thanksgiving feast. The spacious open floor plan easily meets the needs of a busy family.

Designed for ease of living, there are three bedrooms: one bedroom (queen-size bed) and bathroom on the main floor for those who prefer not to use stairs. Upstairs are the en-suite master bedroom (queen-size bed), and the 3rd bedroom (full-size bed). The loft, with a couch and two twin-size daybeds, provides perfect away space for reading or watching movies. A mudroom minimizes after ski hassles, and forced air heating warms the house quickly. The wonderful wood burning fireplace further enhances the lodge-feeling.

In summer you'll find golf courses, tennis courts, an equestrian center, year-around heated swimming pools, archery, a recreation center with a fully equipped work-out facility, hot tub and sauna, recreation events, day camps, spectacular biking and hiking, and of course access to the Donner Lake Private Beach and Marina with all its water activities for endless terrific family fun, as well as great rock climbing and so much more.

Our property borders the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort - you might be able to see skiers on the green "Mile Run" at the end of our property. The entrance to the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort, the Cross Country Ski Area, and the downhill sledding and ice skating rink are mere minutes away. The upper part of our property is great for sledding!
And 20-30 minutes away are the world class ski resorts of Palisades Tahoe/Alpine Meadows, NorthStar, Boreal (Boreal also has Woodward, a fabulous action sports mountain playground), Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge.
No shortage of things to do to be sure. Truckee has great restaurants and fun shops, Reno's airport is 30 minutes away (Truckee has a small airport), and you are close to the Nevada border for casinos, but if what you want to do is to do nothing at all, then we invite you to our home. Its tranquil beauty is guaranteed to hold you captive. In summer, stargazing while sitting around the gas fire table will make it difficult to ever think of leaving!

On a final note, this home was a labor of love. We trust that those who rent it will keep this in mind and will treat it well. It sleeps six to eight people comfortably. It is not a home for parties or groups. Kids/teenagers must be accompanied by adults.

Wonderful Vacation!

The description and pictures of the house were not only accurate, but even more amazing in person. We immediately felt relaxed upon entering the front door. It was quiet, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The owner made the process and stay of renting extremely easy and pleasant. Our favorite activity was renting bikes from Factory Bikes in Squaw Valley and riding along the Truckee River to Tahoe City (and back). We will not only recommend this location to friends and family, but will also be planning future trips back.

Spacious, clean and comfortable house!

My favorite part of the house was the incredible kitchen and how well appointed it was. We were only there for a weekend wedding so didn't get to use it much, but this is a well equipped, spacious kitchen, open to the dining and living areas on the first floor. Immaculately clean, great deck space for being outdoors, comfy linens, and lots of privacy for each of us. Highly recommend this house! The host was 100% responsive both before and during our stay.

Very beautiful house

One of the more beautiful place to stay at through HomeAway at this price. Woutje is great to work with, very up front and straight forward, and quick to respond to your quesiton. The house is very clean and organized and kitchen is very well stocked. House can be hard to find during winter time and the driveway is hard to access especially if there is an abundance of snow. Some of the light switches are finicky and particular to the house, but not a deal breaker. We did show up during a time where there is an abundance of snow, so half of the house is buried, and the ski out option through the back yard is not accessible. Overall, it's relaxing to be there because of how secluded it is. Thank Woutje for a great few days off for us.

AMAZING!

We just got back from spending the most wonderful “white” Christmas holiday at this cabin! Tons of snow−it was magical! The memories we made with our family will be with us for a lifetime. I feel so grateful to you Woutje for renting it to us. You were beyond gracious. Thank you! I’m an interior designer, and quite picky as to where I will stay. It exceeded my expectations. From a design and architectural standpoint, it was exciting to take it all in. It’s very special, and you should definitely rent this home! The cabin is rustic, yet light, bright, homey, and warm, with private views (on all sides) to the snowy woods beyond. Every morning it was fun to awake to find new critter footprints crossing the outside snowy deck. Everybody would try to guess what overnight visitor had come by. My daughter-in-law and I spent most of our time cooking in the fabulous (huge) kitchen. It was equipped with most everything you would need (including a Wolf range). Once we were there, we were so comfortable that we didn't want to leave. When we weren't cooking, we spent our time chatting, enjoying a glass of wine, or napping in front of the 2-story stone fireplace (which was toasty−heated the entire house). There were also games, puzzles, books, and an upstairs TV with movies to enjoy. So relaxing! Our 5-year old grandson and the guys enjoyed sledding down the hill in the backyard. It went all the way down to the ski run at Tahoe Donner Ski Resort. We were not familiar with that resort, as we usually go to NorthStar. But it looked perfect for families. Next time we’ll take that in as well. The rental price of the cabin included discount tickets to use all the amenities at the resort. Can’t beat that! Thank you again Woutje for sharing your home and making sure we had everything we needed over our stay. Can’t wait to come back! :)

Excellent and Restorative

We needed a place to stay for 2 nights after dropping off my son to camp in Tahoe. This was a last minute trip with 2 of my teenagers and one of their friends. This place has beautiful healing energy. It's so peaceful and quiet. My teens didn't fully appreciate the gorgeousness and quaintness of this incredible cabin, so I had the place mostly to myself. I loved it so much, I could definitely see myself coming up here again alone or with girlfriends.

Weekend getaway

Amazing home in a beautiful neighborhood. The house has everything you need and more! We ended up staying in and cooking all our meals because we loved the kitchen so much. I highly recommend this property and hope to come back soon!

Just Heavenly

Our family of five enjoyed every moment of our stay in Woutje’s beautiful log cabin in the woods. It was medicine for our souls! The home is warm, cozy and extremely well-designed. Everywhere one looks one finds beauty to behold. The living room allowed many comfortable hours of reading and games before the fireplace. The kitchen was fabulous for cooking and sharing family meals. The bathrooms had great hot water and pressure. The bedrooms are comfortable with plenty of space for clothes and nice beds. All the aesthetic elements and fixtures of the house are especially lovely as well. A real treasure. We hope to return!

Wedding trip

Great house is a wonderful location for hiking. It’s only a 20 +/- minute trip into central Truckee. We especially enjoyed the living room and the deck; great for hanging out. One bedroom, with a full size bed, is a bit unconventional with one side of the bed pushed up against a wall. Nobody wants to climb over to get to their side. But the other two bedrooms were very comfortable. There was a mixup with checkin but the owner was able to resolve it quickly. Overall, it was a very nice four nights. It would be fabulous during ski season.

Lovely home

We had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful house. It's full of unique touches that show the car that the owners have put into it. It's situated just a short walk from a hiking area and is in a very peaceful setting. Four huge bucks came and sunbathed right outside the kitchen window. It's an easy 15 minute drive down the hill to restaurants, shopping, and the lake. The owner was extremely responsive and very helpful. Highly recommend this property!

Great home. Great location.

Had a wonderful stay at this home with our extended family (older parents, us, older teens). Kitchen is amazing. Layout is really open and generates a lot of social communication. First day saw one of the largest deer (buck) we have ever seen. Great way to start the trip! We stayed during a warm time (90s) and the house stayed very cool. Opening windows after dusk really made it cool at night.

Amazing house

We had the best stay at the property. It was even more beautiful than it appears on the listing. My wife and I celebrated our honeymoon in Tahoe, and couldn’t be happier we chose Woj’s house to do so. We both said it was the nicest house we had ever been in. We will definitely be back. The access to Tahoe Donner is a huge plus!

Charming Cabin with an Amazing Kitchen...

My friend and I were in Truckee to play golf for a couple of days, and found the cabin to be an amazing place to relax in between rounds. The kitchen is a gourmand's dream, clearly set up and maintained by someone passionate about cooking. Woutje's communication was proactive and clear, which made the experience memorably drama-free. I highly recommend this an option for anyone in search of a mountain retreat in the Truckee area.

Excellent Home For Family

My family stayed at Woutje’s beautiful home for 4 nights. My husband and I were able to have our 5 adult kids + 1 girlfriend and we were in heaven. The kitchen is very well equipped. You don’t need anything. The beds were comfortable and the family room has a real fireplace so it was a perfect gathering space. We ran into a few issues, mainly ones that occur when the owner may not be in the home for a while. Woutje responded immediately and always did whatever she could to fix the problem. I believe that we were able to work together to always make things work. I definitely recommend this home. Its location is great, the host is wonderful and it’s a great place for family memories.

A dream weekend

My husband and I along with 2 other couples stayed here for a weekend in Tahoe. The house was gorgeous, so charming and had every comfort we needed. We each got our own room and full bathroom, and enjoyed cooking in the well stocked kitchen. The location of the house is great, only 15 minutes from Truckee where we went out to dinner and got groceries. We also skied at Palisades, only 30 min away, and visited the lake! We brought our own snowshoes to the house and just a few minutes walk away is the entrance to a great hike that leads to a view of Donner Lake. Communication with Woutje was great and check-in was very easy following their detailed instructions. We would 100% stay here again!

Summers are fabulous! There are endless things to do - water sports, a private beach and marina at Donner lake, biking and hiking, tennis, golf, horseback riding, archery - we love it all!
And we love the winter! We go skiing at Squaw, Northstar, Alpine, Boreal, Sugar Bowl, and Tahoe Donner's own Downhill Ski Resort. And then there is Royal Gorge and Tahoe Donner itself for great cross country skiing or snow shoeing. Plus ice skating in Truckee, Northstar and Squaw Valley, and we go snowshoeing right from our house!

Our house is very private. It sits on almost two acres and backs up to the Tahoe Donne Ski Resort so we can ski in and ski out. The Tahoe Donner recreation facilities are fabulous with swimming pools, a gym, restaurants, a private beach at Donner Lake, a wonderful golf course, horseback riding, nice restaurants in old town Truckee, or we drive over the border to Nevada to check out the Casinos. So much to do, but also so wonderful to stay home and cook up fabulous meals in the kitchen designed by two professional bakers!
