Upstairs is a king room and 2 twins, sharing a bathroom with bath & shower. A secret garden awaits via a winding path. Free on-street parking.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the entire cottage and garden.
The Neighborhood:
This cottage in Nether Stowey offers a peaceful base steeped in history and surrounded by some of Somerset’s most stunning landscapes. The village itself is best known as the former home of poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, whose cottage is now a National Trust property open to visitors. Wander its charming lanes and enjoy a drink or meal at one of the local pubs, such as The Ancient Mariner or The Rose and Crown, both offering traditional fare and a warm welcome.
Nether Stowey sits on the edge of the Quantock Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, ideal for walking, horse riding, and wildlife spotting. Scenic trails begin from the village, leading to open heathland, deep wooded combs, and panoramic views. Exmoor National Park is just a short drive away for more adventurous hikes.
The nearby coast offers dramatic scenery at East Quantoxhead Beach and peaceful shores at Lilstock - great for fossil hunting and coastal walks. A must-visit is the medieval town of Dunster, with its beautifully preserved castle, cobbled streets, and tea rooms.
Other local highlights include Kilve Beach, Holford Glen, and Wills Neck, the highest point in the Quantocks, all promising memorable days out in this unspoiled corner of Somerset.
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of the area, a car is recommended for getting the most out of your stay. Free parking can also be found on the street outside the cottage as well as on surrounding streets.
For those travelling via public transport, Great Western Railway operate a service which runs all the way from London Paddington into Bridgwater. It's then a short taxi or cycle ride to the cottage in Nether Stowey.
