Every building tells a story and this one continues a legacy with inclusivity at its heart.Hut 38 is the newest addition to a collection of beautifully modernised and renovated Nissen huts at the historic Cultybraggan Camp, just a mile from the charming village of Comrie.Nissen huts like these were a familiar sight across Britain during World War Ii, used extensively in PoW camps. While originally intended to be temporary, Cultybraggan Camp remained active long after the war, serving as a Mod training centre for over 70 years. Today, it`s recognised by Historic Scotland as the last remaining PoW camp in Scotland – and a Unique Heritage Asset of International Value. Thanks to the continued vision of the Comrie Development Trust, which now owns the camp, these iconic huts have been thoughtfully transformed into contemporary, sustainable self-catering accommodations. Hut 38 stands out as our fully accessible hut, designed with wheelchair users and guests with mobility needs in mind. From the outside, it shares the Insta-worthy style of its siblings – a vivid red roof, crisp white façade, and black trim – all set against the dramatic backdrop of the Aberuchill Hills. Inside, you`ll find the same modern comfort with a few essential adaptations. The spacious twin bedroom offers two comfortable single beds, while the open-plan layout features a bright living area, accessible kitchen counters, and a dining table with seating for four. The real highlight is the wheelchair-friendly wet room, complete with grab rails, a roll-in shower, and safety features to ensure ease of use and peace of mind.Whether you’re a history lover, a countryside explorer, or looking for inclusive accommodation in a remarkable setting, Hut 38 is a truly unique place to stay.Key Features* Fully modernised, wheelchair-accessible hut* 1 bedroom – 2 x single beds* Queen size sofa bed* Wheelchair-friendly wet room with roll-in shower* Open plan kitchen and lounge area* Dining table that seats 4* Accessible kitchen setup* Situated within the former Prisoner of War campLOCATION Cultybraggan Camp lies just two miles outside the village of Comrie, nestled in the heart of Perthshire.
