The Apple Loft Cottage is one of six exclusive thatched holiday cottages nestled on Bettystown's beach front. Enter into this secluded dreamy thatched hamlet with large organic flower gardens and be greeted at your holiday cottage with a warm Irish welcome and hot, home-made scones and jam.

This luxurious self-catering cottage offers the perfect base to come and explore the mysterious and ancient beauty of The Boyne Valley, Ireland’s Heritage Capital and gateway to Ireland's Ancient East. Situated just 25 minutes north of Dublin Airport, with the vibrant beat of Dublin's heart a mere 45 minutes away and a host of attractions locally, culture and family activities all within easy reach. All of this makes Apple Loft Cottage superbly located for a dream Irish getaway.

The Cottages Ireland have a great team whose aim it is to make your holiday a special one, just let them know what they can do for you and they will do their utmost to help. Welcoming visitors since 1908 they have a handle on contented guests. To quote a recent travel writer who visited... 'In a completely selfish moment I thought ... 'don't write about this one, keep it as a secret hideaway'... but a place so beautiful is meant to be shared and enjoyed.'

Apple Loft Cottage offers luxury self-catering accommodation in the most peaceful and tranquil of settings. This bright and spacious two-storey cottage features an open-plan lounge offering delightful views down to the sea. The fully fitted farmhouse kitchen has everything you could need to make it a home from home.

Apple Loft Cottage can accommodate up to 4 guests over two bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin bedroom with two single beds. It offers two luxurious full sized bathrooms with walk in power showers, separate double ended baths, under floor heating, heated towel rails and fitted hair dryers. Bathrobes, slippers and toiletries are also provided for guests. Apple Loft Cottage benefits from the shared organic flower gardens with BBQ, seating area and a wonderful play area for children including a playhouse, tree house and swings.

The Apple Cottage was nice, lovely grounds. Roger & Mel were easy to talk with and accommodating. Roger was hilarious :) The policies (of which I did not see in their T&Cs but maybe I missed it. I am human and occasionally make mistakes) are a little frustrating. Example; There is not a check-in window ie 4-10pm. They will email you; What time will you be here? And they expect a pinpoint time, not a reasonable 1-2 hour window. Ireland has a lot of traffic. I felt pressured to leave other activities as they charge 20 euros per hour if you show up after your stated time.Additionally; their published rate is for ONLY one of the two bedrooms! This was my first Vrbo rental and maybe other properties operate this way. But, I was surprised to find out my friend and I are expected to share a double bed unless we pay a lot higher rate. I assumed two men is low occupancy, nope. Low occupancy here, is one room.On-site you sign another agreement; states no charge-backs for any charges on your credit card. Also states the owner may charge you any amount they feel accurate to replace anything. Yes, there are bad renters out there but I felt blindsided, again.They will also immediately remove you from the property if you have a guest(s). I get they do not want hosted events but not being allowed to invite a local friend over for some tea and a chat seems unreasonable. There is a security camera directly above the front door.Owner lives ocean-front on-site.Again, grounds are lovely.

Dear Kalen, We are surprised and sorry to hear that you were “a little frustrated“ with your visit to Apple Loft Cottage. You seem to have forgotten that we did in fact give you the use of both bedrooms, and were delighted that you were able to avail of both bedrooms at no additional charge, with our compliments. We are always flexible and transparent in our approach. ETA - We are, as you experienced a gated haven and consequently do require an ETA. We are flexible in this regard to accommodate early morning flights and evening arrivals, hence the need for an ETA. Being a small family operation we do not have a 24 hour reception. In your case, you will remember you arrived an hour earlier than your given ETA. We like to welcome our guests and settle them into their cottage, Mel as you experienced does a superb job in this regard. We have a dedicated Guest arrivals phone for ease of updates, some guests are very good at communicating their plans or unexpected delays others are not. We do reserve the right to charge €20 waiting time, but have never done so in our 40 years in hospitality. Low Occupancy/1bedroom - We do indeed offer a Low Occupancy/1 bedroom rate at a 30% discount which many of our guests like to avail of. Registration - The Irish Government require Accommodation providers to Register all guests, our Registration form complies with these requirements, it is a standard form. There are no ‘card charge-back‘ requirements at any stage. Restricted space.

The Cottages Ireland are owned by Roger and Liz Pickett. In Liz's family since 1908, the history, family connection and Liz's fond childhood memories of growing up there makes this an extra special place for them both. Roger and Liz love to potter at The Cottages and you typically find them adding features and extra touches to make their guests stay an extra special experience. Constantly striving for perfection, and lets be honest it doesn't come much closer, their passion is in creating a holiday cottage destination they themselves would like to discover on their travels. They completely renovated the entire property spending two years re-modeling, re-thatching and upgrading these wonderful 300 year old thatched cottages, making them state of the art whilst retaining their sense of tradition and charm. Roger, an Engineer, is always coming up with ingenious ways of improving the behind the scenes running of The Cottages, whilst Liz an avid gardener, spends hours lovingly tending to the picturesque flower gardens that make up the grounds and set this stunning scene. It is this perfect balance and attention to detail that makes an escape to The Cottages an experience to be cherished and a lasting memory.

The Cottages offer that little something hard to find and even harder to describe unless you yourself set foot through the dark brown wooden gates. Once the gates open and you walk through it's like being transported to another world, one of tranquility and calm. The Cottages, with their 300 years of history and tradition, offer a magical quality that charms all who stay. The sound of the sea, the smell of the fresh organic flowers lovingly tended to by Liz and her team. This picture postcard setting is sublime.

Outside the gates there are a myriad of things to do and see - come explore the mysterious and ancient beauty of the Boyne Valley, Ireland's Heritage Capital and gateway to Ireland's Ancient East or the vibrant beat of Dublin's heart. Excellent transport facilities gives easy 10 minute access to Drogheda on the Boyne the local town and to Dublin City which is just 40 minutes away by car, train or non-stop luxury coach service which runs on the hour.

There is also the wonderful Bettystown/ Laytown beach just steps from your cottage door, offering over six miles of sandy escape the perfect place to stretch your limbs and ease your mind. With lovely beach side cafes and amenities in both villages, The Cottages Ireland are superbly located for your dream holiday in Ireland.
