Surrounded by fertile farmland, meandering footpaths and leafy lanes, the village of Knapton is home to a 14th-century church and some fine brick-and-flint properties. Just 2 miles to the east, Bacton sits along a stretch of sand that runs all the way from Mundesley (2 miles) to Walcott (4 miles) – keep watch for the seals as you walk the shoreline. Contrast the genteel Victorian charm of Mundesley with the busier resort of Cromer (9.5 miles), one of North Norfolk’s most iconic coastal locations. Here, the wide sandy beach, promenade, pier and lifeboat station offer family-friendly entertainment and the town centre bustles as bistros, cafes and bars cater to every taste. You’ll find more stores, inns and eateries in market town North Walsham (4 miles), plus excellent public transport links to the cathedrals, castle and cobbled lanes of Norwich (20 miles). If you’d prefer to explore the countryside, the Weaver's Way runs through Knapton on its 61-mile route from Cromer to Great Yarmouth, while for nature lovers Hickling (14 miles) is the largest Broad and a year-round haven for wildlife.
