2 Old Chapel Cottages | Cosy Coastal Cottage in Winterton-on-Sea

2 Old Chapel Cottages forms part of a former Methodist Chapel dating back to 1812, blending character and comfort in the heart of Winterton-on-Sea.

At the front of the cottage, a small enclosed seating area provides a lovely spot for morning coffee or evening drinks. Step inside to a welcoming open-plan living and dining space, complete with two comfortable sofas, a smart TV, and a log burner-style electric fire for cosy evenings. An extendable dining table makes it easy to enjoy relaxed meals together.

The compact yet well-equipped kitchen includes an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher—everything you need for a comfortable stay. Just beyond, you’ll find a modern ground floor bathroom with a walk-in shower, washbasin and WC.

Upstairs, there are two comfortable bedrooms: one with a kingsize bed and the other with a 3' single bed. An additional WC with washbasin is conveniently located off the landing. The cottage is heated throughout with electric heating, ensuring year-round comfort.

To the rear, a practical porch area offers space for coats, shoes, and beach gear. Opposite, an outhouse provides extra convenience with an additional fridge/freezer and washing machine.

One medium or two small dogs are welcome free of charge. They are welcome in the downstairs living areas, but we kindly ask that they stay off the furniture unless using throws (please bring your own).

On-road parking is available on Old Chapel Road. The cottage is just a short walk from the dunes, dog-friendly beach, and village amenities, making it an ideal base for a relaxing coastal escape.

Please note that, for security purposes, CCTV operates at the property.

Autumn stay in Norfolk

I had a pleasant few days in Winterton-on-sea again this September. I was blessed with good weather for the time of year, I didn’t actually have to wear my wellies. Winterton is a very friendly safe place to stay, we first came 13 years ago with our field spaniel Cody who we took on when my daughter-in-law Sarah passed away with breast cancer. I come back every year about the same time of year, my husband passed away in 2020 and Cody passed away not long after, but I still go back because it holds special memories and I feel very safe and welcome there.

Lovely Last Minute Stay

This was a last minute booking which proved to be a lovely few days in the sunshine. Cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed. Cute little front patio to sit out in which was ideal as it was very hot . Ideal location and easy to walk to the beach shop and pub. Love Winterton and the surrounding areas and would return without hesitation. Thank you

Cosy retreat in pretty village

Our third stay here, the cottage was clean and tidy, furnished with all we needed, even spare dog towels etc. Kitchen is small but well equipped, sitting room with 2 couches is lovely. Small fenced front yard meant we could have door open so dog could sit out front safely too. Love this place, so handy for pub, shop, tea rooms and right on the dunes.

A Lovely Cottage in a Lovely Village

The cottage is just as per the pictures on the web-site and provides more than is needed for your stay with a welcome hot & cold drink selection, plenty of games and beach "stuff" in the shed and dog treats ! Perfect location also with the corner shop, Fish & Chip Shop, Poppy's Cafe, Fisherman's Arms PH, the Beach and Beach Cafe only a hop, skip and jump away :-)

Lovely few days in winterton

We stayed in 2 old chapel cottages for 4 nights during a heatwave in July . The cottage was lovely and cool and the two fans were much appreciated The tea ,coffee ,milk ,biscuits juices etc were a really nice touch ,particularly the decaf tea bags ,also the dog treats ,poo bags and balls for the beach were great Only slight grumble was that we found the mattress in the double room very soft but I guess that's just a personal preference.

Small but perfectly formed

We found 2 Old Chapel Cottage to be in excellent condition and very tastefully decorated. It is a little smaller than we are used to (especially the kitchen and it's fridge). However we quickly found it's associated out building provided extensive additional storage space and a massive fridge/freezer, so no real problems here. The cottage is well equipped and we loved the coffee table in the lounge, which provided boards for backgammon and chess/draughts. The only slight negative is that the upstairs toilet uses a very noisy macerator system which should not be operated overnight.

What a perfect cottage. Very very comfortable . Had everything you need for your stay. Very clean on arrival with milk in the fridge and sachets of coffee, hot chocolate and tea plus biscuits ideal after your journey. The cottage is Ideally place in a quiet and very friendly village. Close walk to the beach-10mins or 5min drive. Poppy’s Tea room very dog friendly, lovely people and great food. The local pub has a great vibe, open all day, if you want and a good choice of menu deceiving in size ( very big inside) Winterton on Sea is lovely to walk around but not too far from other attraction, The Broads and NT properties. If you need a quiet gentle spot of recharge then this is the place to go.

Spring Break.

Lovely cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Very quiet. Would use again. I was also impressed by the booking agent, Winterton Cottages. Their communications where first class. Once I had booked I didn't have to do any checking or chasing, they kept me informed all the way.

A short walk to the dunes!

My dogs love the dunes better than the beach, so that was a major plus about this cottage, being so close to the dunes. Small but cosy cottage, just what we needed for a little break.

Small but perfectly formed.

Lovely cottage, spotlessly clean. Despite being very small the kitchen had everything I needed, lots of utensils and pans should you want to cook whilst you’re away. The sofas are comfortable and more importantly so is the bed! It’s so close to the dunes it only takes 2 minutes to walk there and the village is perfect if you don’t want to do much, excellent pub, fish & chip shop, cafe and village shop.

Cosy Cottage

A lovely little cosy cottage. Had everything you need. In a good location. Just a few minutes from the dunes. Short walk to the local shop/Tea room, which do lovely food (b/fast etc.)and essentials. Also great fish & chip shop next to shop/tea room. Have stayed at this cottage a couple of times. Hope to visit again as it was very relaxing!!

Christmas break

Amazing location with all the essentials provided. A nice touch was the wine and chocolates along with milk in the fridge and plenty off tea and coffee not forgetting the complimentary biscuits. All little things that made you feel very welcome. The local shop is a few minutes walk away as is the Fisherman's Return pub and fish and chip shop. The sand dunes again are only a few minutes walk away which we loved and due to the time of year of our visit we were able to see the lovely seals. The only thing we thought could be improved in the property was the shower other than that a lovely cottage and would definitely return.

Perfectly situated

Only stayed for four nights. It is in a great location. Less than five minutes to the dunes and around five minutes to the beach. Had everything I needed. My only niggle was that because the sofas were large and situated end on to the fireplace, I had to sit at an awkward angle to watch tv which was mounted on the wall and way too high. I therefore had a pain in my neck unless I lay down on the,sofa!! The upstairs toilet was noisy as pointed out but I was just glad to have a toilet upstairs. I stayed in the cottage next door a couple of years ago and going downstairs to the toilet in the middle of the night wasn't very convenient! Overall I was happy with everything.

Another lovely cottage stay.

We had a lovely stay in 2 Old Chapel Cottages. Everything was immaculately presented. The bed was very comfortable with good pillows and duvet. We enjoyed warm cosy November evenings in the lounge/dining room with its comfortable sofas and ‘soft lighting’ side lamps. The kitchen was well equipped. Everything had been thought of. We liked the idea of having an extra fridge/freezer in the outside room. We only used the back entrance to the cottage as it was useful for leaving boots and footwear. This is our sixth Winterton Cottage stay and each cottage has an equally high standard of cleanliness and comfort. We love this end of the village. It is very peaceful and a short walk to the dunes for wonderful walks and, of course, beautiful Winterton Beach. You also have the pub, fish and chip shop, Poppy’s Tea Room/shop/post office/newsagent, the corner convenience store and the beautiful church all within walking distance. This is our sixth Winterton Cottage break and each cottage is of an equally high standard. Thank you to the owners, Linda and Gerry, for a perfect stay and for the thoughtful extra touches.

Norfolk first timers...

Winterton Cottages was recommended to me buy a previous customer. His recommendation was on point. Winterton is a picturesque village with everything you need for a short break. No. 2 Old Chapel Cottages was clean, cosy and just what we were looking for. It contained everything that we could of needed throughout our stay.
