We (wife/me/8 year old son) stayed a week at the Oceanfront Villa. We were on the 12th floor, with a magnificent oceanfront view. The suite is quite comfortable, essentially two hotel rooms joined by a small hallway. One room has a King size bed, the other had a queen bed with a kitchenette (microwave, stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, plates/cutlery, etc). Both rooms have TVs and ocean front balconies. The rooms are definitely not luxury level, but are clean, comfortable, and quiet.
The best part about these rooms is that they are part of the Sheraton Bougainvillea Resort. The resort has huge pools, jacuzzi, and several restaurants. There is a 20% discount for condo renters, so the resort was amazingly cheap for the high quality. We ate many meals at the restaurants, had multiple massages at the excellent spa, and even went to a mariachi show held on site. The common areas are delux, very high end. This is not the 4 seasons at Punta Mita, but quite nice. There is also a kids club (free!), where your kids can play while parents enjoy the resort without kids for an hour or two.
The resort is about a pleasant 15 minute walk to downtown PV, and we went out to restaurants multiple times. It was only a 60 peso ride ($3 USD at the current exchange rate of 20/1) and we really liked being close to the city.
My only advice to renters would be to 1) bring a bluetooth speaker if you want to listen to music 2) Bring down good coffee if you are a coffee snob. This is also a family focused resort, and almost everyone there had kids or grandkids. Not the place to go if you want to drink all day and party with single 25 year olds.
Loved our visit there, had a lot of fun, and would go back in a heartbeat. Great value too!
