Summary:

A spacious four-bedroom apartment in Les Carats, just above the centre of Val d'Isère. All four bedrooms have their own en-suite, with two separate living areas on the entry level. The south-east balcony looks across to Solaise and down the Manchet Valley. Three minutes to the Bellevarde and Solaise lifts, seven minutes on foot into the village. Garage and outdoor parking included. Room to settle in, in a resort where space is hard to find.



The Space:

The apartment sits in Les Carats, a residential cluster set high on the rock above Val d'Isère, with the Diamant building at the base of the complex. The location is the point: close enough to the lifts to ski back in if you're an experienced skier on the Face de Bellevarde, and a short walk down into the village for everything else.



Two floors give you the kind of room that's hard to find in this part of the Alps. The entry level opens with a generous cloakroom for ski kit and outerwear, then leads into the main living space. The kitchen sits at one end with a breakfast bar, and the dining table extends to seat eight. Leather sofas and upholstered chairs make up one living area, while a second seating space on the opposite side of the room means early risers don't disturb anyone still asleep. A south-east facing balcony runs along the front of the apartment, with views across to Solaise and the Manchet Valley.



A queen bedroom with en-suite sits on this same floor. Upstairs, three further bedrooms each have their own bathroom: two twin rooms where the beds can be configured as doubles, and a queen double. All bathrooms include heated towel rails, with a mix of baths and showers throughout.



Space is the thing here. Val d'Isère is a resort where most properties have you living close to one another by necessity. The dual living areas, private bathrooms for every bedroom, and the balcony with its long view down the valley give you room to settle into a stay without feeling on top of each other.



Guest Access:

Full and exclusive use of the apartment throughout your stay, including the private balcony and ski storage at the entrance. The building has lift access between floors. The apartment includes a private garage for one vehicle and one outdoor parking space alongside.



The Neighborhood:

Val d'Isère is one of the great Alpine resorts, sharing the Espace Killy ski area with neighbouring Tignes, around 300 kilometres of pistes between them. The village sits at 1,850 metres in the Tarentaise Valley, with an old quartier built around a stone church and a main street running through restaurants, ski shops, bakeries and bars.

Les Carats is up the hill on the south-east side, looking down on the village and across to the Solaise sector. Seven minutes downhill on foot brings you into the centre, and three minutes in the other direction takes you to the Bellevarde and Solaise lifts. Bellevarde climbs to the high pistes and the connection across to Tignes. Solaise opens onto long blues and more challenging reds higher up. Experienced skiers can take the Face de Bellevarde back down toward Les Carats at the end of the day.

Avenue Olympique, the main pedestrian street, is where most of the village's bars, restaurants and shops are gathered. At the far end of the valley, the smaller village of Le Fornet is quieter, with its own gondola and a different feel, worth the short shuttle ride for a calmer evening.



Getting Around:

A car isn't essential in Val d'Isère if you're staying within the resort, the village works well on foot and the lifts cover most of the rest. That said, the apartment includes a private garage with one outdoor space alongside, useful if you're driving in. The garage has a height limit of 2.1 metres, so taller vehicles or anything with a roof box will need to use the outdoor space instead.



The nearest airport is Geneva, around three hours by road in good conditions. Lyon and Chambéry are also options, both with similar journey times depending on traffic. Private transfers from any of these can be arranged, just ask. A free village shuttle bus connects the different neighbourhoods of the resort throughout the season.



Other Things to Note:

A few things worth knowing about the apartment. One of the upstairs bedrooms is an interior room without a window, worth bearing in mind when allocating sleeping arrangements between your group. The dual living areas with separate TVs work well for groups travelling with children, or anyone who wants a quieter corner to read in.



If you're planning to ski back to the property, the Face de Bellevarde piste is the only route in, and it's a demanding run best suited to experienced skiers. Less confident skiers will find it easier to walk the few minutes back from the lift base instead.

Practical details for your stay:



- Check-in is from 16:00, and check-out is before 10:00. Early check-in or late check-out may be possible depending on the schedule of stays around yours, just ask and we'll do what we can.

- Private garage parking for one vehicle (2.1 metre height limit), plus one outdoor parking space alongside.

- Smoking is not permitted inside the apartment.
