Five Star Stay!

Last minute business trip, very happy with this darling lake front house, extremely clean, nicely furnished and comfortable, beautiful sunsets, very kind and helpful hostess, even had coffee and snacks for us, would love to stay for a month or two in the future, highly recommend!

Great location for a Niagara Falls visit!

It was so easy to get to the Niagara Falls tourist spots on both sides of the US/Canada border. Yet it was lovely to be away from it all with a quiet spot on lake, great Toronto skyline view and beautiful sunsets.

Quaint home right on the edge of the lake. Surprising warm for being on a windy lake in December. Convenient to all areas we wanted to visit. And yes. There are good wineries, orchards and antique stores near the home.

The house was awesome, right on the Lake Ontario. Beautiful view of the lake. Everything we needed for our stay was there. Debbie is an excellent host. She provided extensive e-mails before check in answering all of my questions. Highly recommend this house and I look forward to staying there again.

the best experience ever

my trip was the best experience ever, the owner is so kind, she gave us a lot of useful informtaion regarding good place to visit, when it comes to house, everything is clean. we did campfire, chilling in front of the lake and went to niagara fall, niagara falls is just 25min away from the house by car. we have stayed a lot of rental house but, this one was the best time ever. i will recommend this place to my friedns wanting to go to Niagara falls thanks a lot

Nice but not right for us.

We left in the middle of the night being unable to sleep in the uncomfortable bed. It was extremely hard. We tried the twin bed mattress..too weird..army cot with a too big mattress. The place was very well kept with a great view of Lake Ontario.

In the future, it is to your best interest to look at full listing information; text and photos. I have gone into detail to explain the master bedroom's mattress firmness, and that foldable beds are used in one of the bedrooms due to space limits in that room. I provide thorough information in the listing so guests know exactly what they are getting at this lakeside home. Best!

A Very Nice Stay!

Since we came to the area to help our daughter's family move to a different home, we spent most of our days near Amherst and came to the cottage for nights. There were some draughts through windows on the west side. Once we had tracked down the sources (a window left open before our arrival one inch from the top; weather stripping falling down around another window), the house stayed warm through some very strong wind gusts from Thanksgiving through the following Sunday. The host was very easy to communicate with; she even called us before our visit to let us know of attractions in the area and sent a longer list by text. She was very understanding (in texts) when my arthritic male fingers hit the wrong button on a TV remote. The directions for cleanup were very clear and easy to perform.

Out of the way, safe area, great view of Lake Ontario

This house is in a quiet and safe area of a small town (Wilson NY) but is in an easy drive of the tourist areas in and around Niagara Falls. This was also a high time for fruits and vegetables in Niagara County. We bought sweet corn, tomatoes, sweet cherries, etc. from a local farmer's market (Hiller's in Burt NY). Wonderful! The house was very clean and had everything we needed. You can actually see Toronto Canada across the Lake which is probably 40-50 miles away I'd guess. We did drive over the Lewiston Bridge into Canada and went to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Again, an easy drive. Absolutely no problems or big lines at Customs on either side of the border, we were surprised. The home's owner was very open to providing any help needed or advise. We ate at both the Sunset Grill and the Boat House restaurants and had drinks at the Wilson House all in Wilson. Great place. We even drove up to Buffalo to eat at the Anchor Bar (the place that started "Buffalo Wings"). We did so much in our week while staying here that made us appreciate the location so much.

Pleasant stay on Lake Ontario

This is a fine place to stay for visiting the area. Niagara Falls is about 30 minutes away and Buffalo about 20 minutes beyond that. The property was clean and in order when we arrived. The kitchen is excellent with all the things needed to make meals. A bonus to this rental was the washer and dryer provided for use. That came in very handy. A George Forman grill came in handy as well. The furnishings were pleasant enough and ceiling fans provided good circulation. The downstairs a/c worked satisfactorily as did the upstairs bedroom a/c - although the upstairs one wasn't the quietest one we've experienced. But it certainly kept the upstairs cool enough at night. The bathroom was sufficient and clean. Unfortunately, because of the buggy situation outside we couldn't open the windows since the tiny buggers could get inside. The views were nice of the lake, although some of the plantings necessary to prevent erosion did block some of the vistas. Nevertheless, watching the occasional ship or boat drift by or seeing the numerous Canada geese swim by was fun to watch. Outside near the water's edge one can see the skyline of Toronto across the lake on especially clear days/nights. The owner was extremely cooperative and communicative - very easy to reach and returned inquiries almost immediately. Very pleasant to deal with from the first initial inquiry.

What a view

This is a cozy lakefront home that overlooks Lake Ontario. On clear days and nights you can see Toronto. Be mindful that you are in nature as there are some bugs and spiders around. If you aren’t a tight family, this may not be your best choice but it could help bring you closer. This is a quaint and cozy home that offers a queen bed, two twins adjacent to the master, and a futon downstairs. The home has two window AC units and fans in each room. The home has enough table space for our group to sit and eat. Plus ample seating to watch some tv together at night or during bad weather. Deborah is probably the nicest host we have ever encountered while staying at an online booked home rental. She was in contact with us prior to arriving giving us tips for the area and keeping us updated as to whether the border was going to open. Deborah went above and beyond when it came to making the house clean and ready for our stay, even including paper goods for the kitchen and condiments and seasonings. The first day one of our kids locked the keys in the house and Deborah was an hour away and she turned around ensuring that we could get back in without an issue. She has since replaced the lock with an electronic lock so that it doesn’t happen to anyone else. Deborah is a fine host and if we are in the area again, we can’t wait to stay in her Lakefront home again. She gave us a couple of great restaurant recommendations as well. We recommend Marty’s Pizza in the town of Wilson for a 1/2 sheet pizza with Cupchar Pepperoni and the garlic cheese bread. There is a little diner called Fat Papas that has a reasonably priced breakfast and lunch fair and a small gas station general store all close by in Wilson. There is also a wonderful ice cream parlor Brownies that serves wonderful Perry’s ice cream, hot dogs and burgers just down the road. Be warned though, they only take cash. You can see my reviews of the Anchor Bar, Matty’s Pizzeria, Brownies, Duff’s, The Silo and Rock Burger on Yelp. All were great experiences except for Duff’s highly disappointing.

BEWARE, Do not book!

DO NOT BOOK! We were surprised by our extremely poor experience due to amount of good reviews I saw before booking. - Overall, the owner did not take ownership for any of the home's downfalls, and said we were "falsely accusing her" numerous times. She asked that we not provide a review "neither should write a review about the other, just move on with life." Extreme lack of customer service. - We noticed the smoke detectors were missing and/or not working with no batteries. We contacted the owner about this and she immediately accused us of purposely tampering with the detectors in hopes of trying to get out of the reservation due to the more remote location. Far from the truth as we loved the location and purposed picked the location due to being in the middle of all the places we wanted to visit. The owner was very disrespectful and rude in her messages. - The owner leaves all personal items around the home. Personal cabinets are not locked or labeled. - We found matches and mineral spirits right next to each other while looking for batteries for the detectors - which is very flammable. We were then accused of going through her personally belongings, again which were not labeled or locked up. Had that been the case, we wouldn't try nor being able to open those cabinets. - There are post its all over the home with instructions. You are not allowed to close the blinds and states you must replace them all if even one is closed and broken. It states you do not need to close them since there are no neighbors. However, there is another note asking you not to speak to the neighbor as they don't like that she rents out the home. Other notes tell you to use minimal water and to clean the shower after each use. - The owner accused us of not locking the front door as we left. Two of us checked the door and it was locked. When we arrived to check in, the door code did not work and we had to contact the owner in order to get in. Clearly, there is an issue with the lock. - The home was not clean to our standards. Layers of dust and cobwebs. She mentioned she does not charge a cleaning fee as she cleans the home herself. - These are just a few of the issues we had.

Sabrina and her family were the WORST guests that we have ever hosted. Nightmare level guests! Before even entering the house, her husband called to say that they could not figure out the electronic lock, to which another unique code was issued to them for entry. He then said that they had just come from a stay in Canada, and had extra days, so they already used those days to do and see everything in the Niagara Falls area. It was obvious that they wanted to abandon their reservation on the day of check in-before even entering the beautiful waterfront house. I provided them with an extensive three part list of ideas featuring unique places to visit and things to do, locally, along with a list of restaurants, with the hope that they would find additional joy of being in the Niagara Falls area. Instead, at 12:40 a.m., when I was sleeping, I was woken up by Sabrina with three messages that indicated that they were unhappy with finding a restaurant for dinner, with false accusations about the house, that she wanted money "refunded" and wanted to leave. I called VRBO and spoke at length with them, about these unsuitable guests, about their false accusations, and reported to VRBO that I felt bullied, harassed, and unsafe with these guests in my rental home. I asked that VRBO place them in another house, but VRBO said that Sabrina must ask to be moved, and she had not called VRBO to be moved. As a VRBO Hostess of Distinction, I open my house to guests from around the world, I value my guests, and do everything that I can to provide a wonderful experience and a safe stay to each guest. Our house was open during covid, and because of the intense enhanced cleaning that we always do between all guest stays, no one acquired covid - the house is always immaculately clean! The views are magnificent - sunrise and a different sunset each evening. The sound of the waves is soothing! We use fine linens on the bedding and in the bathroom, the window shades are custom so there is a note not to allow children to play with them (up and down as they would be expensive to replace); there is a cute note reminding guests to please spray their shower after each use. We provide an immaculate house, and we do not charge a cleaning fee. We expect our dear guests to leave the house clean when they leave - that is mutual respect - and all waterfront homes in this area are on septic systems, so a note to remind guests not to overuse water when it rains, is not out of order. Sabrina was looking to find fault with anything, in order to try to pressure me to allow her to abandon her reservation, so they could go to a new area and see other things, and asked for a refund of money in exchange for a good review. I will not be bullied, or harassed, or extorted, so I reported everything to VRBO. They said that Sabrina had not called in asking to be moved, so that verified that she actually did not find fault with our beautiful waterfront house. The smoke detectors are hard wired, no batteries are needed/backup only. We do not have matches in the house. Personal closets say personal but one has cleaning products like Lysol wipes and Clorex in it, and the other has extra linens - they are not locked in case we need to direct a guest to extra pillows or linens or a cleaning product if they spill something. For five years, I have been a Hostess of Distinction on VRBO with all 5 star reviews, and a Superhost on Airbnb with all 5 star reviews. VRBO advised me that it be suggested to Sabrina that neither leave reviews for each other, so even though they were the worst guests in my hosting history, I did not leave a negative review for her, I just moved on peacefully; however, true to what seems to be negative behavior on her part, she choose to write a negative review based on no facts or on embellished perceptions on her part. This makes me very sad, that someone would try to create harm to my family and to our hosting. with a negative review in retaliation. Also, they did not follow the house rules as when they left, the did not even lock the door to the house, and they jammed the electronic lock. Such disrespect to us, the hosts, by them.... We welcomed Sabrina and her family into our beautiful rental home, we provided kindness, safety, comfort, and were met with negativity from her right from the start. Not following the house rules, bullying, and harassment to the Hostess should not ever be permitted. TO OUR VALUED GUESTS WHO ARE READING THIS BEFORE BOOKING: Please read all five years of the wonderful reviews that we have received from worldwide guests, all five star reviews, and please ignore the nasty review from Sabrina.... Please know that we sincerely welcome you to stay at our waterfront house and to enjoy a magnificent five star stay. WONDERFUL, PERFECT 5 STAR STAY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

As soon as we arrived and saw this charming waterfront house directly on Lake Ontario, WE FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. The property grounds were very nice, the sound of the waves was so soothing, & the sunset was magnificent. Entry to the house was quick, easy, and safety secure via an electronic door lock, which the hostess indicated is reset with a new number for each guest. It is winter right now, and the heat was on, cozy and warm inside. Upon entering, the first thing that we saw was the view of the lake from the series of seven living room windows, and it was breathtakingly lovely! The house is decorated in tranquil spa-like colors which reminded us of the sea. The house was comfortable, and everything was immaculately clean! The house is safe/has working CO & fire detectors & extinguisher. The linens were high quality. The living room was splendid with two rocking chairs which we sat in, while gazing at the lake. There is a desk & chair, and high speed WIFI, so we were able to get a bit of work done. The televisions in the living room & in the primary bedroom are smart tv's, and the house has cable with an array of special channels. There is an electric fireplace, to add to the charm of this gathering place. There are books, games, & magazines for adults and for children. In the bonus sitting room, there is a basket of new sandals available to use in case slippers were forgotten. The kitchen - what a dream for any traveler - it was so well stocked, just like our kitchen at home - pots/pans, Pyrex baking dishes, Corelle dishes and coffee cups, wine glasses, recipe books, bakeware, rolling pin, waffle maker, crock pot, blender, toaster, lots of kitchen gadgets, etc., assorted cleaning products and soaps - even dishwasher tablets and laundry detergent for the full-sized washer & dryer. Coffee, tea, sugar, powdered creamer, and spices were in the refrigerator; plus, assorted snacks for us were in the glass canister on the counter. We enjoyed a peaceful sleep in the queen sized primary bed, and enjoyed the selection of medium & firm pillows and the variety of blankets that were available. We were only two people, but there was a darling room off our bedroom that had two single beds in it, which looked perfect for children. The bathroom was well stocked with toiletries, and first aid necessities. There were plenty of towels, soaps, and a hair dryer. The hostess is wonderful! WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOUSE; it is superior, a true great FIVE STAR STAY!

Gorgeous views, perfect location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The host Deborah was very accommodating and the house was well stocked with the basic necessities and then some. The outdoor areas were perfect for relaxing. The sunsets were phenomenal. The location was perfect for all our vacation plans both in Niagara Falls and Olcutt for Salmon fishing. There is a pier in Wilson also we fished from. It was very close to wineries and there are many farm stands nearby.

Perfect central location

Debbie was a great host, very informative and caring. The house was the perfect size for our family of four. It was comfy and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for taking in the many different areas of upstate NY. It was easy to go from more rural areas to big cities and everything in between. That area of the state is absolutely beautiful and I'm so glad we visited.

Perfect location

We loved working with Debbie and found this to be the perfect location to enjoy peace and beauty by the lake while also being within 30 minutes of many attractions. We enjoyed Matty’s Pizza and Fat Papa’s local restaurants. We walked the path from Devil’s Hole State Park to Whirlpool State Park, picked apples, rode the Whirlpool Jet ride, visited Niagra Falls State park, went to the drive - in movie theater, and tasted wine and hard cider. We also visited the fashion outlet mall and a chocolate factory. We went to the beach at the Wilson State Park and visited Old Fort Niagra. Like I said, lots to do, all within 30 minutes of the house. Debbie provided tons of helpful information and had nice touches for us when we arrived. The views of the lake from the house are beautiful. We had a great time.

Lake front getaway

This was our first visit to Lake Ontario and Debbie made the trip very special. The house was spotless, with incredible views of the lake from both inside the house and the backyard. The location for us was great. It is a short drive from Niagara Falls and other attractions. Debbie also sent us lists of nearby activities , restaurants and markets to help us since we weren't familiar with the area. It was a pleasure meeting the owner Debbie and we look forward to returning in the future.

Perfect for Families

The only thing missing on our Super Host was a cape! Debbie was absolutely amazing. I'd rent a cardboard box from Debbie in the Tenderloin area of downtown San Francisco. She's that good! She is simply the best host we have ever met, and we have traveled all over. The property was great, too, especially for families. The view was fantastic, and the neighborhood was peaceful. Surprisingly, there were a lot of family-friendly activities within a 20-minute radius. My family and I had a great time, and we'd all happily return!

Excellent house

It was nice staying at the house which was very clean and comfortable. The check-in process was no contact and easy. Also the information provided by the owner was very useful to enjoy the area around the Niagara falls and Buffalo.

*Our family welcomes you to book a stay at our peaceful WATERFRONT LAKE FRONT HOUSE! On the Niagara Wine Trail! Stay 31 nights or more - please message to us for details! We do clean and always have cleaned with Lysol and Clorox and Bleach products to ensure that the house is always clean for our guests! We supply toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies for our guests, too!
*House is cooled with ceiling fans/plug in fans/2 window air conditioner units (the window units do make a noise as the air is being cooled at each unit, all window units make a noise). In the summer often there are small "no see um" bugs or harmless spiders or flies that slip through the screens, we do not want them in the house, so we ask that the windows do NOT open - cool the house inside with the units above. Your booking of this house acknowledges that we are located in a rural lakefront area, with an ecosystem that has mosquitos, flies and harmless spiders, and that you acknowledge and accept this, and that no refunds will be given for such.
*This immaculately CLEAN inside waterfront house is close to Niagara Falls, NY; Ontario, Canada; where you can enjoy The Maid of the Mist, Goat Island, museums, hiking, fishing, boating, wine trails, shopping, restaurants, etc. Also close by are the AMAZON Distribution Center, Stella Niagara University; Seneca Niagara Casino; Niagara Wine Trail, & microbreweries. Our Lake Ontario waterfront house is approximately 45 minutes from Buffalo, NY, and two hours to the Southern Tier Ski resorts - Kissing Bridge/Holiday Valley. It is approximately two hours to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, but you must have a passport (and possibly a Visa) to enter Canada and to re-enter NY State.

*Waterfront house (not a cottage), structurally sound, heat in winter, ac in summer plus ceiling fans in most rooms, new rental thus new linens, small appliances, etc., fresh and immaculately clean, right from the yard enjoy the sunrise and the absolutely beautiful sunsets! No pets and no smoking in the house, bring your house slippers/no shoes in the house/so acceptable to those with allergies. Cell phone note: Because this property is on an International border and directly on the Lake and a short distance across to Canada, if your cell phones "ping" onto a USA cell tower you will have cell service, but if your phones "ping" onto a Canadian tower, you will not have cell service; this changes from minute to minute/one never knows; however, if you drive or walk up a block or so to the main road/away from the Lake, then you will have cell reception as you will then "ping" onto a USA tower; this is an International cell tower problem and there is not anything that we can do about this; however, cable always works so at the house you will always have WIFI , email, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, etc. *Drones are NOT allowed on the property; NO pets, NO smoking in the house, NO shoes to be worn in the house, NO hair dyes, NO fried foods, NO cleaning fish, thank you. Guests are allowed a paid stay during the entry date and time, and exit date and time as paid for via the host site; extra unpaid stays are not allowed; there are NO squatter's rights. Only guests who are named on the reservation are allowed to stay at the house, for that specified time period, no exceptions.
