This is our 5th visit to Broadkill beach, and another great vacation. If you don’t know about this unique area, you can find some good descriptions on the web. This house is located on the more developed northern half of the beach, with several homes sharing a beach access point. The beach here is wide with a beautiful natural dune, just steps from the house. On a weekday in June, we usually had a couple of hundred yards of beach to ourselves. Uncrowded beaches are one of the main reasons to come to Broadkill.
The home is awesome as promised in the description. I was able to watch the sunrise from the top floor. The house has 4 outdoor decks, one which is screened in, which was a great feature. The bedrooms have lots of windows and get very bright at sunrise, so you might want to bring sleep masks. The property manager (a realtor) was professional and responsive.
The house was minimally appointed in terms of games, books, movies, kitchenware, and beach gear relative to other places we have stayed. Everything was as promised, but other places we have stayed were better outfitted. In particular, other VRBOs always had several beach chairs and umbrellas. If you are coming from the city in a small car (like us), this could be an issue. The kitchenware was generally minimal and needs updating. These things could be fixed by the owner with a single trip to Target/Costco. There were a lot of childrens sand toys (e.g. buckets and shovels) and firewood was provided, enabling us to have a bonfire on the beach, which was downright magical.
Overall, a great vacation house.
