I will preface this review by acknowledging that the owners will likely respond with something about how my group is young and reckless. For whatever it's worth, this review is from the perspective of a group of 10 friends (mostly couples) on a family-style vacation. We are all in our late 20s with professions including teachers, engineers, and nurses. We are not a club-going bunch, but we enjoy having a good time at the beach, BBQing in the yard with drinks and games, and enjoying the occasional late night at the local bars and restaurants the area has to offer.
One note about the size: sleeps 10 is a stretch. I would recommend no more than 6. Anything more is uncomfortable and cramped for more than 1-2 nights.
Upon arrival, you can feel that the house gets minimum cleaning and maintenance. Couches are old and dingy with stains and small tears (more on this later), loose cabinets, missing kickboards, cracks in the walls. Kitchens are stocked to the brim with martini glasses, but not much else. Grill was falling apart. One sunny day a gust of wind launched an umbrella from out of a glass outdoor table, shattering the glass. The umbrella was missing a stand, held loosely in the table which was missing a plastic liner for the umbrella hole, but the owners blamed my "lack of common sense" instead. Same thing happened to the upstairs renters on a another sunny, mild weathered day.
As for the owners, I've never experienced such rude and immature treatment. After what felt like friendly communication during the week including notifying of and cleaning the broken glass table and offering to help buy beach passes for the owners, and a full morning cleaning the space upon checkout, was unexpectedly charged for a small tear in the couch that was there upon our arrival. They pretended to care to ask if anyone had any knowledge of that damage, but charged me before allowing me to respond, accusing is of being too young, rowdy, and lacking control of our dog (extremely well behaved, no history of chewing, constantly supervised). Strangely, we had no issues/questions about our ages or dog when requesting to book. David ignored my calls while actively insulting me via text and made false accusations. Nancy will proudly point out how many properties they own around the country which made clear that this pair gets off on maximizing profits with minimal reinvestment in their property and will find a way to make their renters pay for much needed upgrades.
